COPPELL — Police kept searching Wednesday for a 49-year-old Coppell woman who has been missing for nearly a week, authorities said.

Meanwhile, Leroy Tellgren, 74, of Carrollton remained in the Denton County Jail, accused of killing Kathleen Garza.

While she has not been found, police suspect Tellgren in her death because they found her jewelry, purse and a woman's jacket in his possession.

They also found seat foam, upholstery and a seat belt believed to be from his pickup; they were stained with what appeared to be blood, according to search warrants.

An offer to manage three businesses — none of which existed, police say — may be how a Coppell woman was lured into a dangerous situation that resulted in her disappearance, her husband said Friday.

Kathleen Garza, 49, has been missing since April 16. Leroy Tellgren, 74, of Carrollton remained in the Denton County Jail on Friday, suspected of killing her.

This is very close to where I live. I wish that scum would just say what he did to her and where her body is so that her family can have some closure.

Missing Coppell woman's body thought to be near Oklahoma

Coppell police said Thursday that a missing woman's body might be in the Oklahoma area because TollTag records show the suspect in her disappearance may have driven in that direction the day she disappeared.
The key question for Coppell police remains what happened in the roughly 13 hours between the time Kathleen Garza, 49, was last seen with Leroy Tellgren, 74, in Coppell and the time she was reported missing to police.
"We really don't know where they went or what they did during that time," said Coppell police Deputy Chief Gary Nix.
Tellgren was arrested on a capital murder charge days after Garza's April 16 disappearance.
TollTag records indicate Tellgren's pickup passed through a toll both at State Highway 121 and Coit Road in Plano on the day Garza was last seen.

"Since her disappearance, no activity has been observed on Garza's phone or bank accounts and she has not contacted any member of her family, police said. Based on those facts, it is believed the woman is deceased, police said.
Tellgren has been charged with capital murder and is currently being held on $1 million bond."

Has anyone heard any updates on this case? I've been checking the newspaper online daily but haven't seen an update in several weeks.

Not a word for several weeks. This is all so hush-hush. My neighbor is a manager at the store and he even said the store is not encouraging talk.

The CPD is not talking either.

I'm sure they have the guy responsible for her death. However, I feel the family has the right to a proper burial and closure. Hopefully they can get Tellgren to talk but I understand he's being completely uncooperative. Even if he gets the death penalty he'll most likely die in jail before the injection can be given. Truly sad.

For weeks after her disappearance I drove around the area where Tellgren lives hoping I could find a likely dump spot. Then I learned about his vehicle on 121 headed north with Kathleen still in the truck. There are vast areas of trees and pastures in NE Texas. She could be anywhere between McKinney and Oklahoma.

Very frustrating. No developments, no news and no Kathleen still. :banghead:

(snip)

On Friday afternoon, Garza's widower said the found remains had been confirmed as those of his late wife via dental records.

We also talked on Friday to Tellgren's attorney, Phillip Hayes. He talked about the discussions Tellgren had with police, saying, "Mr. Tellgren wants the family to have peace and he wanted a fair sentence for himself."

The remains police found Thursday in a Lewisville field have been positively identified as a Coppell woman who has been missing since April, the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office said.

On April 16, Kathleen Garza, 49, never returned from a trip to the Market Street Shopping Center on North Denton Tap Road in Coppell, her family said. Her husband said she had gone to meet her friend Leroy Tellgren for coffee on the day that she disappeared.

I actually went searching in that area a few days after she went missing but I was just a little farther south. I had a feeling he didn't venture far to dispose of the body. So if he "wants a fair sentence" he's basically admitting guilt! I hope the sentence is fair as in the death penalty!

He told them where to find her body, there is no way around guilt that I can see. You normally don't know where the body is unless you put it there.

I'm sure they offered him a lesser sentence to tell them where he put her! But I'm also pretty sure at his age it means he'll rot and die in prison!

Rest in peace Kathleen. May the angels be with your family and friends.
