MISSING PERSON: Search is on for 23-year-old Delmar woman

DELMAR — Police are seeking the whereabouts of a 23-year-old Delmar woman who was last seen by family on Dec. 3.

The family of Whitney L. Bennett, of the 3600 block of Susan Beach Road, contacted police on Dec. 9 after becoming concerned about her welfare.

Delaware State Police learned that Bennett may have visited a friend in Fruitland, Md., on Dec. 4.

MANOKIN, Md. - Maryland State Police recovered the body of a Delaware woman who has been missing for four months and have arrested two Wicomico County men as their investigation continues into what caused the death of the woman.

I am a friend Whitney's cousin and attended the vigil on Friday night. Really wished there was brighter outcome. RIP Whitney and prayers to her family. Also kudos to WMDT 47 news for their continuing coverage when Wboc didn't report anything until a body was found.

Two men indicted in woman's murder

Two Fruitland men implicated in the murder of a missing Delaware woman have been indicted by a Somerset County grand jury.

Claude Henry Hill, 49, and Steven Louis Akers, 36, have been charged with accessory to murder after the fact and obstructing and hindering, according to charging documents.

William Hill was arrested in April of 2011 and allegedly confessed to killing 23-year-old Whitney Bennett of Delmar, Delaware by choking her; her body was found in a shallow grave in Manokin in Somerset County, Maryland last April; her family had reported her missing in December 2010.
