I don't have them on my map. Got a link to these cases handy? If not, I'll just google. But if you could save me time, I'll owe ya one. ;)

They're in the Long Island Press article, on the last page: http://www.longislandpress.com/2011/03/24/long-islands-other-serial-killer/

I got the Blue Point location off a site I can't post here, and it might not be accurate. Couldn't find a thing about them on line, but maybe the newspaper archives would have something.

Oh, okay. So fantasy or attractiveness plays no role in the prostitute-john interaction. No john ever says, for example, "please wear a red dress" because he wants to imagine her as the cute marketing intern that he sees every day at work who looks so sweet in her red dress that he would love to unzip her out of.

No, the prostitute can show up wearing no makeup, baggy sweats, even, and it makes no difference, as long as the sweats come off.

Really?

Not being a working girl myself, I can't answer this definitively, but my experience with men is that yeah, the clothes guys like the best are the ones that are already on the floor. I don't imagine an exchange of money changes that :D

That said, I'm sure that yes, there are many occasions when the john wants a certain look, a certain kind of apparel, a certain kind of role playing, et cetera.

It wouldn't surprise me if ALC had another and much more...interesting...outfit on under the jeans and hoodie.

It also wouldn't surprise me if the jeans and hoodie was the look this particular john was looking for. If you look at her advertising picture on the escort sites, she's got a very casual girl-next-door look, quite unlike the more glam-and-bare shots.

I wonder if any of these girls could do all their business with a Cell Phone? This way a person could be in a Coffee Shop in Penn Station or GC terminal and hookup very easy. It would add a sense of Security meeting in or around People. Flash, give a large amount of Cash up front a girl would go anywhere. It works for the John at the same time. He could check out if she is alone what she looks like in person if he thinks she would be a problem.

~above BBM~

Me neither Mountain_Kat. BUT, There sure are alot of commonalties and coincidences in these cases we are studying......buses, bus stations, working girls of small stature, People's mamas.....etc.

I agree we should keep an eye on it though. If SK was tracking the movements of these ladies thru websites, he could have travelled I guess. Perhaps he had a close call around home base which compelled him to go elsewhere. Specualtion only.

For now, I will go with not related until we hear more info.:twocents:

In a case full of coincidences, the fact that this woman and MW went missing from the same area at about the same time is another weird coincidence that might be no more than that.

Was MW the one who was robbed on her way back home? ETA: No, that was MBB. Thanks, internetgirl!

i wonder if now that certain people might be sitting in jail , if certain missing girls bodies may begin showing up......

still reeling.

I find it really hard to believe that he could be in police custody for the last 2 days and nothing has been leaked to the media.

I THINK it was MW but I may be confused. Per the following link, MW's bf and baby's clothes were found in the hotel room the next morning. That is a new tidbit that I didn't know.

Actually, what I was mapping was somewhat different (but the same, it turns out). Patterns of travel can't be hidden. Like I said, our SK is who he is. He works where he works, lives where he lives, frequents the places he frequents. So I plugged in known locations, and started to see what the travel pattern was. I assumed he would have travelled to the dumpsites on his way home. In other words, he wouldn't travel to Oak Beach to dump, and then double back to a house on the mainland of LI. That's when the "loop pattern" stood out to me. What I didn't do, until yesterday morning, was add in other unsolved murders. I can't focus if my map has too much info that might night be connected to the case I'm working, so I don't usually include "might be related" locations. But yesterday morning, the Manorville and Hemstead cases just grabbed me, so I figured what the heck, map it and see. It fit perfectly within my loop.

But without Carbuff's mapping, I still wouldn't have had the full picture. He added info from cases I wasn't even aware of, and figured out the roads (which was really stumping me!).

So this morning, I need to do some research into the unsolved cases he mapped that involved prostitutes being strangled. Exact c.o.d of the 4 known victims, so very interesting to me. I had never even heard of those cases. Carbuff is the man (or woman)! :)

LOL. I'm a she-carbuff, not that it really matters.

I just mapped all the locations, then moved them around until Google gave me some routes that looked logical and convenient. It looks to me like he probably leaves from Manhattan or the Bronx, possibly picking up a victim on the way out, then commonly drives out the LIE before looping back. I think he dumps on his way back to town. The Manorville bodies and all the Gilgo/Jones/Oak Beach bodies are on the north side.

One death that isn't on the map is the UID torso in the suitcase that washed up on the other side of Long Island sound. The feet washed up in Cold Spring Harbor. I didn't include it for the reason you say -- no telling where that body went in the water so the one location we have is probably more misleading than helpful.

*IF* these deaths are all connected -- then he doesn't have a "typical" victim. There's a preponderance of very petite blondes, but there are also 5'10" 180-lb women, and all races.

I believe it was Maureen Brainard Barnes who claimed she was robbed:

"Maureen Brainard-Barnes got the train from Connecticut to Long Island with friends on July 9 2007. That night she called a friend from the New York Port Authority Bus Terminal. She was upset and said she had been robbed of the money that she earned that day. She told her friend she was coming home. She never made it."

I heard MW and her bf's clothes were left in the hotel, and thought that was strange. This is the first I've heard of baby clothes being left. So, after MW didn't return, AC just bolted from the hotel room without bothering to take his belongings? Doesn't add up. Unless he was arrested the same night, then he'd have to leave his clothes, I guess. But why on earth would there be baby clothes with them. If they took the baby with them (ewww!), who had the baby that night. Not Megan. If AC had the baby, then he obviously didn't get arrested. Unless he did and the baby ended up with social services, which may be the case, we don't know.

Oy.

The interview with ALC's roommate was touching. You can't fake that kind of emotion. You can tell he really cared about her.

An interesting contrast to the coldness of the Oak Beach residents, isn't it?

Very touching, I am sure his "roommate" really "cared" for her.
i guess when you really "care" for a female friend it is normal to help her sell herself for drugs..
it would never cross my mind to get her clean.
What a guy.

btw, her "roomate" conveniently forgot to mention in the interview the reason why many of her clients had "threatened to kill her".. because the little scam he and her "BF' were running in that house.

If he "cared" so much for her, why didn't he keep track of whom and where she was going to?
he was the one taking the phone calls..
why didn't he make sure she took her phone with her?
Obviously this was more interested in scamming people and making money off than anything else.

MBB was the one who was robbed and disappeared from NYPA Bus Terminal.

MW is the one who travelled from ME with her boyfriend, and was last seen on tape walking away from her hotel in Happauge.

Hi Filly,

No, I am not a psychic and I don't believe in them at all. Trust, a real psychic would be able to predict lotto numbers and until somebody can accurately predict mega millions for every drawing then that's when I'll believe in them.

Things just come to me. I can't explain it but I've learned to recognize and appreciate it. It's nothing that I can turn on or off like we do a light with a switch. I don't seek it out--it just comes when it I need to know or be aware.

I've been told that it is the gift of insight. I'm not sure what to call it but it ain't psychic.

No matter the name for it I say it's a gift. Plus you're a compassionate person.

Meanwhile look at your post time to me. 3:33.

Or maybe the baby had been left with AC's family. I think I read somewhere that he would go visit family while MW worked. This is what I am hoping cuase like you said, EWW!

Thank you internetgirl101 and Mountain Kat for clearing up the question carbuff asked.

OT Dear bf is off work today and I am playing secretary helping him type letters, resumes, cover sheets etc. for his next project so I hope you all excuse me for being slack with links today! :innocent:

I had totally forgotten about that! Whew! I sure hope that's where the baby was.

So then, that puts us back to what might have happened to the pair that they wouldn't check out and take their clothes. We know why MW didn't return for her stuff, but why didn't he? He had to have come back to the room at some point, right? Otherwise, how would he even know she was missing? Maybe he did get arrested afterall and wasn't able to come back and retrieve their stuff.

Add this to another of those mysteries in this case that we'll probably never resolve.

I totally agree with you, Aleph. Not at all what I was expecting. That must be a huge emotional burden to bear, to know that something you could have done differently might have saved a loved ones life.

That said, it still bothers me deeply that ALC was never reported missing. I mean, I get it. Many of these people live on the fringes of the law, but there's just no excuse for not doing everything within your power to find someone you love who is missing. There just isn't. But I'm sure ALC's friends and family deeply regret that now, and will have to live with choice for the rest of their lives. It's just sad from every angle.

In other news, one day I'm going to take the time to learn how to quote more than one person in a post so that others don't have to read back to back posts from me. However, today is not that day, apparently. ;)

"He is most likely a white male in his mid-20s to mid-40s. He is married or has a girlfriend. He is well educated and well spoken. He is financially secure, has a job and owns an expensive car or truck. He may have sought treatment at a hospital for poison ivy infection. As part of his job or interests, he has access to, or a stockpile of, burlap sacks."

“He has to be persuasive enough and rational enough that he is able to convince these women to meet him on these terms. He has demonstrated social skills. He may even be charming.”
