Giordano's attorney Michael Lopez filed a petition on Monday at the Court of First Instance of Aruba, "in which the Judge of Instruction was requested to set client G.Giordano immediately free from his detention or at least to postpone his detention until eventual sentence against him has been passed after trial," the firm Lopez Law informed RadarOnline.com in an e-mail.

Why would GG think that JB could ever be of help to him?????

This is so sad and infuriating. I really hope that Aruba LE are not sitting back waiting for media attention to die down so they can just let this case go, just like Natalee. I pray this is not the case. :(

I think media attention has died down
There is nothing to report
I can think of no benefit to Aruba to just let this case go
Why would they not want to solve this mystery?

Giordano can be legally held for questioning until October 31, at which time he could be allowed to go back to the United States, unless a judge decides there is evidence produced to continue to keep him there.
While no body has yet been found, authorities say Gardner is presumed dead.

In a little over two weeks GG could be free to leave Aruba
It will be up to LE to produce further evidence to detain him longer
Even if LE presumes RG is dead, they must produce evidence that will persuade a judge
IMO, they don't have any or they would have charged him.

I wonder when the judge will rule on the petition to release him?

Stein said the results of forensic and electronic evidence sent to the Netherlands for examination are expected back this week. Of significant interest to investigators is what information may have been contained in a computer and two smart phones that were confiscated.

Authorities say a search done by specially trained dogs brought to the island from the Netherlands is complete. The dogs did give some indications of areas that may warrant further examination by investigators on foot. But these hits were described by Stein as "nothing major."

Maybe they are awaiting these reports

"The reconstruction we are confident that the accused a number of not telling the truth." Giordano late October to appear in court again. This will decide whether his detention is extended again. This can then be up to 30 days. Moreover, it is not certain that the PPS will apply for this extension, says Stein asked. He says that the burden of proof on each renewal which is bigger. "We look at it step by step." http://www.amigoe.com/aruba/86977-om-wacht-advies-speurhondenteam-gardner-af

The above bolded comment may be why Lopez has petitioned the court, imo

Unless you have been to Aruba you can never understand why it would be very difficult to keep someone there without people knowing about it. It would serve no purpose. They have females escorts if you chose to have one for the night. There are no basements, crawl spaces and frankly no reason to ever deal with that type of trade in Aruba. It's not Mexico or South America.
-----------
South America is pretty close by.

Again, has anyone determined if there was a tatooed man who met RG and GG at the restaurant?

And, Robyn liked tattoos. So could GG have introduced Robyn to a "business partner" who had tattoos in order to establish some kind of trust?

IIRC the only mention of the tattooed man was in an article in NE
No other news sources picked it up

How do you think Robyn would have gotten to SA?
If she left the Island, someone else would have to be involved
There has been nothing to date that convinces me that there are others involved JMO

So you think she was A) swept out to sea by currents B) eaten by sharks C) both?

I don't know where she is or what happened
But until I read otherwise, for me whatever happened involved two people, Robyn and Gary

Aruba is one of the few countries that have US Custom Agents living on the island. If there was a hint that Americans were being brought to Aruba for human trafficing it would have been brought to our attention immediately. Aruba does not deserve this type of bad press. RG did not "just" disappear. GG claims to have been with her when she "drowned", "disappeared under the water", whatever you wish to call it. He could only get paid that money if her body had washed ashore pretty quickly which I bet he was counting on. This is a case of an American committing a crime on a foreign soil and trying to get away with it.

But for speculation purposes anything is possible but knowing Aruba...highly unlikely. And sometimes the most obviously is really what it is. jmo

The US operates border preclearance at a number of ports and airports in foreign countries

Its supposed to streamline the process
Probably locations are chosen with the amount of travellers in mind

Some in bermuda, The Bahamas, Canada, Ireland

Do you happen to have any idea why that is?

Yes, because US has customs set up in Aruba as a point of entry into the US. There are so many Americans on the island all the time that it is easier to go through US customs there than to wait until you hit US soil. There is one whole terminal just for departing US citizens. I know I love it. Much easier than San Juan, Miami, any of the US ports of entry. You can relax and there's plenty of time to make your plane if you are there by the two hour cutoff time. jmo

Thanks to both of you. So it's just a question of the volume of US travelers to the island? Just seems kind of odd to me. I always thought there was a large volume of travelers from South and Central America, and a fair amount from the US, but I would have thought there would be more US travelers to a number of other Caribbean islands. I was just curious if there might be some other reason they set up in Aruba. Doesn't much matter, I guess.
