“The weekend she disappeared, Maureen had taken the train into the city with friends, but she left them once she got to Manhattan. Cann says her sister usually worked from a hotel room and never saw johns at their places. Maureen was adamant about working only in Manhattan and never said anything to Cann about working in Long Island. At one point that weekend, Maureen called a friend from the Port Authority and said she’d been robbed of all the money she’d earned. She needed a ride home, but the friend couldn’t come get her. After that call, no one heard from Maureen again. For three years, the NYPD had reported no trace of her—except, in 2008, for one cell-phone-signal ping off a Long Island tower, just a few miles from Gilgo Beach. “Someone was trying to access Maureen’s cell-phone voice-mail,” Cann says. When she saw the news about Gilgo Beach, Cann knew Maureen had to be one of the bodies.”

The person " friend" who had said that was not even a friend of hers for a while and they actually where not getting along for a while.

I'm a bit confused. I was under the impression that Maureen got that money back. Is that not correct?
 
Could you be thinking of Melissa who deposited $900 in her account that day? We have Melissa depositing $900 and Maureen getting robbed of $900. We know Amber was offered $1000 and we know nothing about Megan. I'm thinking both Melissa and Maureen saw the SK during the day and he gave them $1000. Then he must have killed them later. I wonder if the SK was a regular customer of Maureen's and she called him after she was robbed. He could have offered to take her home and that was the end of the story.
 
The Atlantic City murders happened in Nov 2060. Maureen's family was in the casino business there. Seaslug44's discovery of all the other dismembered bodies has made me realize that Maureen was the first woman not dismembered, or one of the first. At the time of her murder there was no secret graveyard. It is possible that all the GB4 were placed there at much later times than when they were killed. If you believe, as I do, that the Manorville, Gilgo Beach and Atlanta murders are connected, then 2007 was a turning point for him. For some reason he stopped dismembering some of his victims. We have speculated that he did not kill in 2008 but I believe that he probably did kill and dismember other women, he just didn't put them in his graveyard. Seaslug44 discovered several women murdered in 2008 that may fit the SK's MO. And you might say 2006 was a turning point since the AC women were not dismembered.

The Foreigner discovered for us that Maureen in July 2006 was listed to an address 16 miles NW of the Golden Key Motel where the four bodies were found. (6358 Monmouth, Mays Landing, NJ). This address was found on Zabasearch. Mrs. C. also found an address for her in Mays Landing on Veromi.

My sister maureen Has been missinf since July 10 2007. She went to Ny and never came back. she would always call me in the afternoon. She never called that day. I called her phone and it said her voice mail was full. We reported her missing through our local police department. while I called Ny and reported her missing to them. They said that the last call ping off her cell phone was a water town on long island. Maureen has been missing for 3 years. Now with the four women remains they called us and said that maybe maureen could be one of the four found.. We are now waiting on the dna results.. She has a daughter and a son..

I was a little confused about the calls, but as I understand it now, Maureen called Long Island in the daytime on the day she went missing. Then two weeks after her disapperance someone tried to access her voice mail from around Gilgo Beach. LE claims this prompted them to search the area looking for her.

Could it be that Maureen actually met the SK when she was living in Mays Landing? Could he have been in AC scouting out the area for future victims. If he became her client then she may have given him a lot of information to use for his future murders. He could have arranged to meet her in NY at the Motel 8 the day she disappeared. He could have given her $1000 then. After she was robbed that evening she could have called him in desperation, and trusting him, accepted his offer to take her home, breaking her rule of no car dates. How could a man with a pronounced limp be harmful? Especially if she had spent time with him in Atlantic City.

These are my thoughts and MOO. Many of the links provided on our forum are now gone. I think there is a good chance this is what happened to Maureen and I am now looking closely at Seaslug44's list of victims leading up to 2007, particularly all the dismembered ones. Make sense to anyone?
 
Montain Kat you are right she did get the money back. As for the Mays Landing and her living in NJ. And her family in the casino business that is inaccurate. Maureen had never lived in NJ. I know one of the search site says she did but that is not true. A lot of what that search site says is inaccurate to say the least. She does not have any family in NJ either. I just want to clear a few things up Maureen lived in CT almost her whole life besides she lived in North Carolina for a brief time In 1999. See Maureen used Maureen B Barnes as her residence name. I belive you are a relative of Maureen, and we had this discussion over at LISK several months ago.
In al respect I will post the same information here as I posted over at LISK.com , and then people can decide what they belive.

Please understand that I am NOT saying that Maureen neccesarely LIVED in Mays Landing, what I´m saying is that she indeed was LISTED in Mays Landing.
Now, WHY she was listed there, I don´t know but she WAS indeed listed there and so was her husband Jason. (se added info)

The FACT that the persons who was ALSO listed at the SAME address in Mays Landing, at the very SAME TIME, as Maureen andher husband Jason ALSO share, both exact address and phonenumber, with Maureens in her home state CT, tells me that there INDEED is a connection between Maureens and her listing in Mays Landing NJ.


Here are Maureen and her relatives (or friends? Or Jason's?) DHS and DES at their common Mays Landing, NJ address.

IMHO it is VERY important that we don't just dismiss this possible connection, because a relative have no knowledge of maureen beeing listed at Mays Landing, because it might be some kind of lead.


Additionally, this family that Maureen is listed with in Mays Landing AND Mystic, CT, and several of their relatives, have addresses right nearby Golden Key Motel were the 4 Atlantic City murdervictims were found Nov 20 2006.
This IMO mean that Maureen Brainard-Barnes,and/or her husband, at some point possibly frequented this area surrounding the Golden Key Motel and the addresses/areas that the 4 AC murdervictims frequented, and were their bodies were found .

I´m NOT trying to indicate, in any shape or form, that thise people related to Maureen and/or her husband jason, has anything to do with any of the AC4 or GB4 murders.

I agree with you except the part about "a man with a limp". I'm not so sure about that yet. MOO You did clear up several facts I have been wondering about. Thank you!
 
I understand what you found but in all respects I rather the information you all have is right and not false. Maureen was pregnant in 2006 and she had her baby in 2006 she lived with me at that time. So the information you got is from and inaccurate source. You can believe what you choose to believe but I am telling you Maureen has never lived in NJ. And I am not saying this cause it might be evidence. I am saying this cause it is true. Maureen and her EX HUSBAND was already divorced by 2006. They did not even live with each other since 2003. I am just trying to correct what is false, to what is true in this matter. Than you or whoever following inaccurate and false leads that has not creditably to Maureen and what perspired before she went missing. Thank you!
 
Amber Costello was from NC, IIRC the Wilmington area. She left there and moved to Florida and later to Long Island, NY.

Yes, sorry you are right. Amber was from NC. Maureen moved there cause her husband was in boot camp Maureen was only 17 at that time. She had no friends down there she lived in the camp.She move3d back to ct 6 months after cause the boot camp was over with.

Additionally I today posted that Jason, Maureens husband, had addresses in the Clearwater Florida area, close to Amber Costelles 2009 address in that area, actually one address only 5 miles apart the other address ca 10 miles.

THEN, Right now today I just found out that another person of the Shanxxxx family, who ALSO was listed at 6358 MONMOUTH in MAYS LANDING, NJ, named Melissa Shanxxxx SHARE THE VERY SAME ADDRESS OF JASON BRAINARD-BARNES's IN FLORIDA THAT IS 10 MILES FROM AMBER COSTELLO'S ADDRESS!!!

OK, so now I am 99.99% sure that there INDEED is a connection between Maureen and the Mays Landing people.
It very well might be, actually seems plausible, that the connection is through her husband Jason.

No I don't have family with that last name it is just that search site that says that information if you got o lets say whitepages.com or people search it would not say it. That search site zabasearch is an inaccurate. You can not believe all that is out there. If you google inaccurate zaba search engine you will see how many mistakes that free site has. I just want people to have the right information that is all.
