I wish we at least knew what we are dealing with too. Should us local girls be scared for our lives? Or do we not have any reason to be scared? I just really wish we knew more
It doesn't necessarily matter what we are dealing with in Mickey's disappearance, it DOES matter that all of us become aware of our surroundings, and take whatever steps we must to avoid becoming a victim.
It is wise to take self defense classes, it is wise to be alert and to be willing to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to avoid being "taken." I remember from my self defense classes during the DTL days being told, DO NOT GET INTO ANYONE'S VEHICLE....this may or may not save your life, but it does insure that you will be found in a familiar location. Scratch, kick, scream, bite, do whatever you have to, MAKE NOISE! LEAVE EVIDENCE! Fight to save your own life, but in the event that you lose your life, make sure you've left as much evidence to find who hurt you as you can. -----
I don't know if we should live in fear but we should all live in preparedness.
I haven't seen or heard anything that makes me think Mickey was a specific victim, personally. I think it was random and I would be sure not to be alone, especially after dark. But I would always be sure of that anyway...JMO
I haven't heard anything either, but the fact that no evidence was found makes me believe that Mickey was taken by someone she recognized and was familiar with.
Tagging along on your comment, it is ALWAYS wise to be in a group of people, day or night. Unfortunately, we have now learned that even in Lafayette, Louisiana, you should not be biking alone.
Does it matter what the circumstances are? Nobody knows that right now, yes she had a breakdown recently around finals time that was 2 weeks ago. Her Dr felt she was ok enough to release her for out patient care. Her parents or friends have no idea where she is at and i'm assuming if this were your child no matter the circumstances you would be beside yourself. Yes let's all hope she is just
needing time to her self. My concern is, that is a rough area and i'm praying she did not come across someone or something that will harm her.
Sorry no dis-respect meant and i'm hoping that your comment got lost on me through text and you were not dismissing the situation.
OMG, I was afraid of this! Someone commented on Mickey's thread about another missing young woman, Linnea Lomax, who had gone missing. LINNEA'S FAMILY AND FRIENDS are the ones who said that LINNEA had recently had a breakdown. It is on Mickey's thread, but has nothing to do with Mickey.
respectfully snipped..
I do in fact know the video is not continuous but exactly like the traffic cameras. That is what a representative of the planning commission told me. I posted her contact information here to corroborate that information and it was removed by moderators. I did not call and represent WS or my business.
Mods: I apologize for posting that if it was against TOS.
Ashley Says said. "It's her silhouette, her body type. You can see the lights on her spokes. I've looked at it really closely and when you look closely, you can even see that big blonde hair.
She saw her silhouette, her body type and had to look at it closely to see her big blonde hair... but easily identified her. ok.
That tells me they see exactly what we see... conclude that how you will.
Well, we have a conundrum here. I was told by a neighbor who works in IT for the city government of Lafayette that the video was indeed continuous.
This is going to be one of those things we are going to have to agree to disagree on.
Mickey's friend did recognize her on the video, but so did Mickey's sister and her parents. It seems unanimous among them that the biker in the still shots IS Mickey.
There were posts this week on the page for Mickey that searches were being resumed this week...so I have a feeling they know little more than we do. JMO
I *think* those pictures of the searcher were from before we were told the volunteer searches had been called off.
All I see happening now, today, is a call for people to replace flyers that have been destroyed by our afternoon rains.
Exactly! People with "no fear" are completely naive, or they are the kind of person one should fear. (IMO) just like I don't get why someone would hang "truck nuts" from their truck, I never understood "no fear" stickers.
No Fear was a popular brand name of clothing WAY back in my sons' day!
It doesn't get much more "hard evidence" than them seeing her being put into a truck or getting into a truck. Thats plenty enough evidence to make an arrest if they know who the driver is. And if they know all that but don't know who the driver is, then it is irresponsible to not ask the public for help in finding the person. That would just be wasting time. Look at Jaren Lockhart's case. Video of two people seen with her, released to the public, boom, identified and arrested within days. If LPD wanted to make an arrest, they would. And then figure out the evidence after. They're known for that. When they want to make an arrest, they do. They're not secretly building a case against some perp. They may have POI's, but theres no hard evidence to go on. If there was, someone would be arrested by now. IMO they are still just lookinh for more clues and solid evidence to point them in the right direction. So people thinking they should just sit back and wait until an arrest is made because LPD already has wbat they need and are building a case, are wrong. People should absolutely still be calling in anything they see or hear, anything suspicious at all, to LPD and Abdella.
I totally agree that if LE had seen Mickey and/or her bike being loaded into a vehicle, that information and a thorough description of the vehicle would have been released to the public.
There is NO reason that Lafayette PD would have to keep that information away from the public. This is NOT a "podunk" organization, our officers are educated and experienced and believe it or not, they WANT to solve cases. If they had any evidence at all to solve this case, it would be solved.
I also don't believe that people should sit back and wait for an arrest.....Call in any information you have! Call it in to LE or to Johnny Abdella, but call it in!
I truly believe that Mickey can be found, and I believe it will be a member of the public that finds her or provides the evidence for LE to find her.
