Just wanted to add to this post.

Often in prison other inmates that have been through the process or that are more versed in law will help prepare the documents.

And I'm struggling with Civil Code to pass the Notary exam! Maybe I need a jail house tutor !!

I live in Opelousas, Louisiana and there is a casino here called Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino. I frequent a bar there to listen to band s play and hear the local DJ. When I saw his mugshot on tv I was chilled to the bone, because I would see him there quite often. As more details come out I become more creeped out, it's just scary, especially with my younger sister being Mickey's age. Rest in peace angel.

Maybe you should let the police know about this. It might help them to know about areas frequented by BSL. So very scary that you crossed paths with a monster. I'm glad you're okay.

Yes, I agree.

Another reason would be the timeline. So many reasons why they need to know.

Sorry if I broke a rule. I was only being hypothetical, not trying to spread rumors. I was trying to think like BSL.

Oh no not you!

I was the naughty one that should know better to check and make sure it had been stated in MSM :giggle:

Dang never do know. The bar exams can be tough and they do seem to know the loopholes in the law. Might be worth a call :giggle:

for some reason since they have found the body it seems like its been forever. maybe bc the forum was busy in the 81 days that mickey was missing and i had lots to read. we shouldve known it wouldnt be today. they have taken their time processing everything. and well technically it was rushed to announce it was her, even if done in a tacky way.

sending prayers and love to mickey, the family, volunteers, law enforcement and prosecutors. that God's will be done from here on out.

Don't know which thread this question should go into.

Could bsl own some kind of small machine/excavator that could be placed in the back of a DWT, that would dig large holes? I don't know if anything like that exists. It has been theorized that he might have dug several graves. Not familiar with the soil in LA but if you went in my back yard and dug a hole deep enough to burry someone even 3 feet it would take a while. It would take me a day, my bf...maybe 2 hrs.

Foxfire

[Do you really think that BSL would have attempted a successful mugging ruse on 05/19/2012, in NOLO, or a stolen/burned DWT in TX on 05/31/2012..etc?..
If not for an aware citizens tip to LPD on 06/14/2012 when BSL attempted to replace the DWT from the insurance claim. Imo, BSL would still be unidentified & preying on innocent victims as we speak..

I agree with you on that if it had not been for the person that called and told the detective everything he knew about BSL I believe BL would still be walking around. Its ashame no one will ever know what a hero he was.

I am going to pray that the full story comes out since it was the awareness of some of the public that were intregal to this getting to the point it has this fast. There are alot of untold stories that do need to be told starting with one lady that had the courage to tell hers in a Court of Law in the first place.

As long as this case may have seemed to take to resolve, I cannot thank LE and the volunteers enough for this heroic effort. To get a suspect to lead LE to his victim is a magnificent victory for LE.

And this was clearly a team effort -- many people helped. But I do tip my hat to LE for being able to organize and analyze the huge amount of information (good and bad) that they were receiving. And then to secure the win with, I am only guessing, an interrogation or plea bargain (one which, I trust, will not let BL on the streets again) that, from what I have read, amounts to a de facto confession. I have to wonder if local LE secured the confession. If a local did, this is a lucky city. If it was someone brought in, I must also also cheer this LE for choosing a good solution to an important problem.

Just saying, KATC had a snippet of news basically stating that 2 days later, we still have no confirmation. No surprise, just letting y'all know if you missed the newscast and wondered.

Hope we hear something tomorrow.

An announcement of when there will be a media briefing by LPD would be great..

BayouBecky, anything on the 5PM KATC TV 3 news on the interview of the former cellmate of BS Lavergne?

From what I could tell (and I'm not 100% certain because I'm popping in while cooking dinner since we've got TaeKwonDo tonight), it seems to be the same stuff that was posted already by WAFB. I didn't hear anything that particularly stood out to me as "hey, that's new." Ya know?

ETA: Just went to check the video again from WAFB, and yup, I'm pretty sure it's the same. I think KATC repackaged it with their reporters' commentary, but the video of the former cellmate appears to be identical.

The Find Mickey Now website has been updated to include links to search for sex offenders nationally, by state, and locally.

It has been a very long 82 days since we were all brought together to bring Mickey Schunick home. Although the outcome wasn't what we had all hoped and prayed for. It was simply meant to be. We all have a destiny in life. I think it is now obvious what Mickey Schunicks destiny was.

I would like to share an ellegy written for Meredith Hope Emerson; Blood Mountain Hiker, by Winton Porter, after she had courageously sacrificed her life, so that others may live:

Mountain Crossings a hikers’ paradise

Winton Porter owns the Mountain Crossings outfitter and hostel at the Walasi-Yi Center on the Appalachian Trail near Blairsville, and, though he’s technically in the wilderness, there’s a lot of human wildlife on hand.

The Mountain Crossing Trading Post is only a few hundred yards from where Trail Angel Meredith Hope Emerson, was abducted on 01/01/2008

In a new memoir called “Just Passin’ Thru’: A Vintage Store, the Appalachian Trail and a Cast of Unforgettable Characters,” Porter writes about collecting what he calls the “wackos, heroes and friends” that have made that journey. It is this crew that makes Mountain Crossings the Algonquin Round Table of the hiking community.

Elegy tribute for Meredith Hope Emerson: Blood Mountain Hiker:

An Elegy by Winton Porter
January 2008

Out on the trail, when a comrade falls, a trail angel rises.
Meredith, whose kind and loving spirit was cruelly taken from all those who knew and loved her, has joined the ranks of trail angels.
She will forever be our guide.

Because trail angels dance along the path of peace and joy forever.
Because trail angels watch over those who merely want to walk forever.
Those who simply want to live.
Those who want to live simply.
And beautifully as Meredith did.
Merediths light once illuminated the path of hundreds of friends and family members as well as among the many, many she touched along the graceful trail of her life.
The light Meredith brought us has not been extinguished.
It has risen.
It now illuminates the path of millions
Across our nation.
Around the world.
And as her light rises, we come to know its source.
A source inextinguishable.
An inner source.
It came from Merediths compassion.
Her kindness.
Her love of outdoors.
Her love of animals.
It now fires our love.
Our compassion.
Our resolve to live better lives.
Kinder lives.
It warms us, consoles us, unites us here and now.
And as her light rises,
It ignites in us the good of our natures.
It reveals to us the beauty of these mountains.
It fires in us a renewed joy for living, for those around us, for the walks we share today.
Her light reminds us not to wait but to love while we still can.
Now….Stop.…Listen.
Hush and truly listen.
Hear the drums?
Feel them on the wind?
Hear the human tales of triumph and sadness that echo through these vast and ancient mountains?
These are human tales, bouncing off the cliffs,
Reverberating among the high tree lines,
Following the deep gaps.
Filling our hearts.
Separateness is an illusion, my friends.
There is no me.
There is no you.
There is only We.
We of this earth.
We the one.
I am you.
You are me.
Together , we are bound by common experience:
Love. Life. Hope. Joy. Sorrow. Pain. Memory.
Meredith Emerson is you.
You are Meredith Emerson.
Follow her light.
It will guide you well.
Remember.
Out on the trail, when a comrade falls, a trail angel rises…
