I just got back from a lunch where I asked US Senator David Vitter what he could do to toughen the laws on RSOs and what I could do. He said that the laws are in place but he feels that enforcement and verification when released needs to improve. This is on the state level. Awareness of where they are located especially by schools and day cares. Back ground checks for employees.

I am thinking about BSLs glowing recommendation letters from when he was in prison for 8 years and let out 2 years earlier than his sentence. I am thinking about a warrant for domestic abuse that could have added years to his sentence that was dropped. I am thinking about how a Jefferson parish sheriff deputy was taking a statement of a RSO with stab wounds and a crap story and let him leave without further investigation. I am thinking about how this monster went for his RSO verification days after the attack with new wounds and a truck that was in the news for a kidnapping and let him leave his office. WTF?!

I want names and heads to roll....

Just a tip to the wise: Whether or not Mickey happened to be listening to music during her ride, this is just a good time to remind folks not to tune out. Several years ago, a police officer came out to talk to my running group about a rash of early morning attacks at a popular Houston running park. The victims had this in common: All were running alone and listening to headphones or earbuds or whatever.

Please be fully aware of your surroundings and be safe! :eye::eye:

But maybe I'm preaching to the choir here. I've just gotten a lot more aware of my surroundings since following this case...

i'm not a cyclists, but i've never seen a cyclists with earbuds in. it's dangerous riding a bike on the road. you need to be able to hear what's all around you to avoid cars, etc. you're not even supposed to have earbuds in if you are driving inside of a car. Fellow sleuther cyclists, is it common for cyclists to wear earbuds and be listening to music when they bike while riding on the road?? (not off roading)

It is a very chilling experience to have a young girl vanish one night in your neighborhood. Everyone is shocked, anxious,...afraid.
Especially the young girls of Ms. Mickey's age. It could have easily been any one of them. They are more aware now. More alert, and aware of their surroundings. That's a good thing.
Although I am not the fearful sort... I hope for all girls/women to be alert. Be aware. Exert caution. But...enjoy life! Hit the beaches! Travel to Spain! Tailgate at Rajin Cajun games! :rocker: And ride those bikes and horses...as Ms. Mickey did...in freedom, and without fear.

Yes he was. It is also part of the area searched by LE with dogs and crime scene tape. From the locals that posted that was the only area in that vacinity that specifically had dogs and crime scene tape.

It as well takes me back to the May 21st statement released by LE that they were not ruling out foul play.

I hope Mickey's family was fully aware of what would be revealed in court yesterday...I know that Mickey's mom is said to have cried out when they revealed she had been shot...I hope she already knew this hideous fact...I know I kind of cried out too when I read it for the first time. Just hoping she knew already...you never know for sure how much LE reveals to families in these situations...

The girl who read the family statement after the hearing told me they knew. I asked are you sure and she said yes. I suspect they were told she was shot, but hearing the full story was traumatic.

What rage could he have been feeling when he saw Mickey on her bike and decided to hit her. He didn't even know Mickey . He must have had something on his mind to follow her and hit her off of the bike. And i don't think rage was his frame of mind.

For certain individuals, anger triggers the libido. The sexual attack is a means to overpower and humiliate. If BSL is this type of rapist, Mickey, herself, did not invoke the rage. It was already there.

Certainly BSL was not the only lonely man in Lafayette that night. Yet, how many forcefully attacked and raped, or attempted to rape, a helpless, unsuspecting victim? BSL had a gf, so why was he calling escort services? It's actually pretty typical for an "anger rapist" to have a normal relationship with a wife or gf, and to rely on the sex trade for a different kind of experience. Since last week when we learned he was calling escort services, I've been wondering if he had a history with escorts which caused him to be blacklisted.

This rapist is strongly identified with anger and retaliation...
getting even with women for real or imagined wrongs.

They are angry with women and they use sex as an extremely potent weapon to punish them.

This type of rapist uses the blitz approach, subduing the victim with the immedate application of injurious force

C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center does not offer a work release program... And BSL was there until September 2005. He was then transferred to Avoyelles Correctional Center, which does offer a work related program. So, apparently if he did any work release it would've been after Sept. 2005

His hatred of women I don't think it is because of his Bio mom gave him up for adoption. He was adopted at a very young age from what I gathered from the statement his adoptive mother put out. Not saying he didn't have gay tendencies cause I don't know him but where did this come from?
He would fight his problem with being gay by killing women? It seems like he'd take out his frustration about being gay on other gay men.The serial killers that I've read about who were homosexual serial killers killed other men- Jeffrey Dahmer, Herb Baumeister, Ronald Joseph Dominique, John Wayne Gacy, Andrew Cunanan. Those are off the top of my head.
I'm sure there are some who killed both sexes but the ones I'm most familiar with were men on men killings.

I was thinking about BSL's motivations and what seems to be important to him. It seems like it is very important to him not to be seen as a sexual predator. He tried to remove his RSO status and tried to bribe someone at the DMV. He told people that what happened on 1999 was consensual, he did not admit to rape in his plea deal.

Yes, K.jill, and he unsuccessfully appealed the rape conviction from 02/2000, either 3 or 4 times.. Now, that is persistence..

K.jill, there is an area of the north ga mountains that was called Wolfscratch Wilderness by the Cherokee Indians. Back when, during the 1800s/Cherokee era, the dark forest of virgin white pines & hemlocks was densely populated with wolves.

The wolves; as predators, would scratch the leaves over their feces to camoflauge it. This was done to hide it from their prey, which enabled the wolves to remain stealth, and making their hunting much easier.

Imo, by trying to remove his RSO status, BSL; a predator, as did the wolves, was simply attempting to remain stealth from his unsuspecting prey..
