(I might be rehashing things here or missed something said over and over, sorry)...also, looks like a face-on scratch, not from behind - you would have to be behind AND above to cause that scratch....not likely (scratch over left eye, which is on right side of photo). Again, he could not go out on search or show his face for a few days because he had facial scratches. No emotive pretence would disguise scratches. In my honest opinion only.

The thing about the scratches and the beard etc that confuses me a little, is that in that dreadful, pathetic interview he was clean-shaven right, or fairly? I don't want to look at it again but I might have to now..... I just don't recall any scratches being evident. Perhaps they were just shooting at a lucky angle for him?

What on earth did his family think of the scratches (OW, parents etc), if they are indeed not "in the know"???? Did they honestly believe they were from a blunt razor?

Several threads ago I recall a poster drawing our attention to this mark in a different photo, and it looked like it had been covered up with a circular bandaid and perhaps makeup. Interesting.

Great photo Regret! To you and Thinking, I can definately see the scar on GBC's cheek, just under his eye. Yes Thinking, I can also see the mark you're talking about near his hairline. Good pick up. It has been argued that GBC grew his beard to hide scratches/scars, but IMO I'm sure that his jawline wasn't the only place on his face that he was scratched!

With all due respect, I think there may be a little bit of jumping to conclusions going on. I'm sure that isn't a scratch or a scar on his left side, and the little thing up near his right hairline is just the typical solar keratosis we males get in this climate by a "certain age".

As I pointed out earlier, that photo was taken at the funeral, so any scratches would have healed up and pretty well disappeared by then.

I think perhaps we may be reading things into that photo that aren't there.

Now don't get me wrong - I'm sure that there WERE scratches on his face somewhere, as well as on his trunk - after all, the police had to photograph them (reactions to caterpillar bites, no less). But by the time of the funeral, there would have been not a lot left to see. And I think trying to see scratches on a photo taken at the funeral is perhaps a little bit of wishful thinking, IMHO. I certainly can't say with any certainty that there are any traumatic marks on his face in that photo.
 
It could be a scratch, or scratches, we just don't know for sure obviously, but in my experience scratches can be noticeable for some time, and some do scar.

I have a scar on my boob, which I got over 30 years ago, from a scratch. A girlfriend with long nails accidentally scratched me in the pool and that scratch was well noticeable for months. The scar hasn't really faded much after all these years and some people still notice it as it's right on my cleavage.

I also have some little scars on my hands from cat scratches, so they don't all just disappear.

Yes, I will agree with that. :) Sometimes the ones that end up scarring can be the most simple of scratches to start with. So, you just never know, do you? I think everyones skin is different and so is the way it reacts to scratches.
 
Yep Lyn, my booby scar from the scratch is just as noticeable as a scar on my knee where I got 6 stitches.
 
Since the scratches on GBC discussion earlier on.......I always thought that they made him shave his beard because they wanted the hair samplings also. (not just for the hair samplings, but that was another reason.) My opinion only.

Interesting.
 
Marlywings, how do I search for a photo? I remember early on there was one in which you could see scratches. I don't remember seeing a scratch round his eye... But thought I could look back. Thanks in advance :)

Feeling a touch sick having zoomed in on too many photos :-( but still can't find the picture in which I think I saw scratches.

Cheers Alioop. The photos of the specialist dogs are gorgeous. I'm going for "Venus" as being part of the search for Allison. She's a beautiful girl. Or Jazz perhaps. Did Allison do Jazz Ballet as well?.

But don't forget that pic is the one taken at the funeral - about 2 weeks or so after the murder, so I doubt we'd be seeing any scratches by that stage. Scars maybe, where scratches had healed up, but I can't see any in that picture, to be honest....

I've had another look at that interview (with the sound down) he is indeed reasonably clean shaven but Allison had been missing for five days at that time.
 
In the video of the funeral Allison's dad does a real recoil away from GBC- I'm on the iPad so hope this link works - the recoil is right near the end

There were not, to my knowledge, any photos published, showing the right side of GBCs face where the scratches were clearly discernable. If you look back through photos, you will only see the left side of his face. As he immediately commenced growing facial hair from 20/4/2012, it appears to me that most of the scratches may be concealed by the beard line where one has any glimpse of the right side of his face. Perhaps MSM had instruction not to photograph that side. One taken in a car obscures the right side with his phone. I have posted a photo, which if enlarged, appears to show yellowing marks in the beard line. We have had photos posted previously, which were discussed at length here, which appear to show healing marks. QPS will now have the photos of the scratches/scars which really matter for the committal in the future. IMO.

A government medical officer advises police a shaving cut is "usually a epidermal nick and is not likely to scar given that they don't break the dermis. A non-intimate forensic order is requested to shave the relevant part of Mr Baden-Clay's face, examine and take photograph of the injuries".
