GUILTY Canada - Guang Hua Liu, 41, found dismembered in Toronto area, 10 Aug 2012

The woman whose body parts were found in Mississauga and Scarborough worked at a body rub parlour for a year before leaving to start her own business.

Described as a quiet and reserved single mother of three, Guang Hua Liu, 41, began operating Forget Me Not holistic spa on Eglinton Ave. E. near Midland Ave. in May.

Until April, she worked as a licensed body rubber at Asia Studios, one of the city’s 25 body rub parlours, near Warden Ave. and Sheppard Ave. E.

Need to look up Asia Studios. sigh.

I am confused....

Two found dead in car north of Toronto, deaths not being treated as suspicious: police

I must have heard the above news report completely wrong
It must be the same two men

This older case reminds me of this one somehow, not just because the victim was known to " have green hair one day and orange hair the next"..

http://www.torontosun.com/news/torontoandgta/2010/05/26/14108106.html
"When a barrel containing a corpse encased in concrete was pulled out of Lake Ontario on Sunday, it led to a trail of assassinations of Asian gangsters stretching to 1991.

The body of Quang Lu, a dai lo or gang leader, was pulled out of the water after Toronto homicide detectives were mysteriously led to the spot."

"Prior to Project Orr, we had probably between five and eight murders we couldn't account for and that's how we found out later it was over loan sharking," the source said. "They didn't pay the money and they sent people here to do them."

The "people" were members of a Boston-based gang led by Trung Chi Truong, a violent gangster used as muscle by various Toronto gaming house operators and loan sharks, including Tran and Lu.

No murder charges were filed during the project and Truong, who left a trail of violence in Toronto, is now in a U.S. prison.

Lu, a divorced father of a daughter, never offered intelligence officers any information they could use, the source said.

The source said Lu lived a flamboyant life and while a big roller in Macau, he was more subdued in the Ontario casinos but loved to play the Italian card game baccarat.

"He was down in Niagara every night," the source said. "He always showed up with different coloured hair, he'd have green hair one day and orange hair the next time.

Jong Soon Suh, the owner of a dry cleaning business located in the same building, says Liu was planning to leave Canada just months after opening the spa because her former husband had decided to return to China

Thanks for posting that, Dushi.
Was somebody forcing her to leave, or trying to force her to stay?

The suitcase found 2 blocks close to the remains and hotel: were these things Liu's belongings? Was she seen carrying a suitcase? Does it belong to her murderer who was trying to convince her to be (away) with him?

It is VERY odd that a full suitcase would be abandoned. There has to be some connection; it's too big a coincidence.

Can the owner of the motel who was interviewed about room 39 ID the suitcase? Does he remember it?

Are Lui's prints in that hotel room -- from an earlier visit?

She had an appointment with a prospective buyer on the eve she was killed. Did that person or persons show up? Does LE know who they are?

From http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2012/08/22/guang-hua-liu-body-parts-victim-china_n_1822044.html

"Suh also said that she had become aware of Liu taking over the property in mid-May and was concerned with the spa because she never saw any customers enter and the front window was covered with a curtain.

"The store never opened. There was no opening sign and nobody was in there," she said.

"When I passed by, the curtain was a little bit different shape than the other day. So I (kept) an eye on it and the next day it was a little bit different also ... So that means someone gets in and gets out."

Suh said she had spoken with other business owners who also said they had never seen the spa open, while the previous owners had signs in front of their business to attract customers.

Toronto Coun. Michael Thompson said city inspectors checked out the spa after receiving a handful of resident complaints about the business.

When inspectors arrived at the business in mid-July the spa "didn't appear to be operating," he said. Zoning and bylaw officials found nothing improper, but noted they had trouble finding Liu at the spa.

"When our officers were able to speak to her she did inform them that she was in the process of selling her business," he said.

Shan Shanmugavadivel, a dentist at Rainbow Village Dental Office in the same complex, said he would see the previous owner in the parking lot, but never saw Liu in the area.

......................................................................

Shanmugavadivel said that he rarely saw customers or employees of the spa entering or exiting the building.

"I have seen some people hanging around outside, going in and coming out," he said. "Not many, just on my way to work and on my way out I have seen some men going in and coming out but usually they had painted glass or something and I never cared to go in."

But Imran Bachcha, a pharmacist who works next door to Liu's former business said he often saw both men and women come and go at the spa, though he said it had been closed for the past three weeks. He said he believed it to be a legitimate business.

Last weekend, police officers contacted his pharmacy to see if they could obtain surveillance footage from cameras he had installed inside and outside the store. They never came back to get the tapes, said Bachcha.
..............................................................................................................."

I hope those tapes are protected. WHY wouldn't the police come for them????? Do they have them now??????????????

Also: was Liu still with her bf, while planning to return to China with the ex/husband? Is the boyfriend a (new) husband? Or was there a breakup?

It would be pretty dumb of the perp to dump an entire suitcase that could be found so easily if it was his. Why not scatter the contents like he did the body parts? Or burn it? Wouldn't it even be safer just to keep it with him?? I have a feeling the suitcase could be Liu's. What if the story about going to China with her estranged husband was just a cover she told her neighbour? Maybe she was going somewhere else - could the suitcase have been packed and waiting for her at her business, and that's why she went there?

I have no idea if it is appropriate to post this so you can delete this post is necessary but, after google searching asia studios (her former workplace) I found out that they do a lot of illegal things there and that she was likely involved in these activities in 2011 and maybe part of 2012. I hate to speculate but an asian woman who worked at asia studios named "Heather" had ads for her "massage sessions" on sites with names like "tosluts.com" under the "toronto escorts reviews" section and she had an ad for "sensual massage fun" on another website for escorts and massages. There were also reviews about Heather on a massage forum describing some of the services she offered. Here are some links (these sights make me so uncomfortable btw):

I hate to wonder this but, was the forget me not spa also offering illegal activity behind the scenes? was she posting ads online recently that would attract the wrong person? Did she ever go to other locations to give massages, like hotels?

Hmm... if she was involved with this type of thing, it is possible she ended up servicing... the wrong person (understatement, I know). Perhaps a client became obsessed with her and couldn't take rejection?

I don't really think there is anything 'wrong' with being in the sex trade. Sometimes, you have to do what you have to do to make money. Especially when you have children to provide for. The problem is that the clientele is sometimes... 'wrong'. And people get killed. Unfortunately, it seems that sex trade women killers rarely seem to be caught. I don't know if it is because they are hard to track down, or authorities don't care enough about these women... but something needs to change. I hope the authorities don't waffle on this if she was involved with this type of business. This is brutal and sad, no matter what she may or may not have done for a living, and the killer should NOT get away with it. Her children no longer have a mother. Her friends are missing their friend.

"Jean identified Ms. Liu’s son as Danny, believed to be about 19, who works in a hair salon. He often dyed his hair red or blue.
“Danny don’t drive,” she said. “His friends pick him up.”

A short time later, a white car driven by a young woman stopped in front of Ms. Liu’s home. A young man with short blue hair opened the passenger-side door to exit, but changed his mind when he saw reporters milling about. The friends looped around the block twice and left.

Jean also said Ms. Liu had been renting her basement out to a man who only spoke Chinese for three months. The tenant arrived home in a black Honda CR-V, but declined an interview"

Yeah, I totally agree with your philosophy. Women in the sex trade are humans too, and need to stop being treated differently. People are very complex and cant be defined solely by what they do to get by. If Heather was involved in this sort of activity its possible that she had a sketchy/bad client. Maybe a client who felt ripped off in some way, or who was upset about her closing the spa and leaving Canada? I also wonder if the men close to her including her bf and oldest son ever found out about what she may have been doing.

It seems if the spa never seemed to be open for business, it may have been by appointment only.

It could have been a cover for something not quite legal.

If that is the case, could they track her clientelle?
I also read the reviews at a site for Asia Spa.

I have no issues with women in the sex trade at all.
I just wish it were made legal so these people would have more protection and didn't have to do things under cover .

they are extremely vulnerable

I try not to judge other people. Because, really, who am I to judge anyone? It's a well known fact that working in the sex trade industry can bring a person into contact with some unsavoury and downright dangerous people. My gut feeling though is that she WAS involved in with body rub parlours and nothing more. I think by opening Forget Me Not, she was trying to get into a legitimate business. The pictures showed pedicure chairs/basins, decent quality facial products, etc. But for whatever reason, it didn't work out (and that reason may be a key to solving her murder). I wonder if she borrowed any money to buy the business?

It breaks my heart that her son can't even go home because of the throng of reporters. Why can't they let people grieve in peace? :maddening:

Thats a good point
And if she did, who knows what type of person she borrowed it from

Perhaps she fell behind in payments or they heard she was going back to China

LE have been awfully quiet today - I wonder if that's because they have a suspect in mind? :waitasec:
