When it comes to math, you might as well be speaking German to me! ; )

I think recognition is important. Informing the public and police more about the realities of SKs would go a long way . Dahmers neighbors complained @ the smell coming from his apartment but chalked it up to the idea that he must be cooking chitlins

:what:

Even the cops that were in his apartment didn't recognize the smell and obvious signs that were there!

Sowell's neighbors thought the smell was the sausage factory down the block!

Really?!?

Cindy Anthony recognized (initially) "It smells like a damn dead body in the car!"
Turns out she was right. : (

People deny to themselves things that they don't believe can exist in their world.

Math can be a damn sucker. Because like in every area of expertise, it is garnished with $60 words to hide that things are quite easy. Bottom line is, if the number of missing persons in a group suddenly spikes by 25% or more, something is foul and someone should look for the reason. 10% more and the number of possible reasons is usually reduced to one option: An SK is hunting in this group. The trick is, to look at each possible victim groups on it's own because no possible victim group alone is big enough to change the numbers in relation to the whole population significantly. 20 missing boys are in the statistical noise when I compare that to the number of people going missing all together. Twenty missing boys in one jurisdiction compare to the number of boys who went missing average over the last five years ... that is a spike.

And smelling dead bodies ... people see, smell and hear more what they expect. A little bit trivia from another area. In WWII, there were for three years every night the E-boat fights. German e-boats against British MTBs mostly. Now, what they did is, they lurked, they just stopped next to a buoy. Others looked in the maps and saw, exactly where their radar showed them "something" had to be an old buoy, so everything was okay. They expected something to be there, rarely they noticed, what they had in the radar, it was too big. Well, suddenly the motors went on and before anyone could do something, one or two ships went down, 60-80 people died in a few minutes. Because, as I said, people see what they expect to see. And smell what they expect to smell. Dead bodies are normally not on that list.

But the relevant point is, PDs need first better technologies and methods to recognize an SK is working in their area. Because if they know, they have one at thier hands, they can still call people who know SKs, but if they have no idea there is one, they can't do a thing and they can't call anyone. So IMO, the issue of recognition has priority. Which is rather a math problem than anything else.

Peter, Would you say a communication problem would be near the top of the list?

I am really busy on a monster cold case that goes back some many years ago. A relatively young man was killed in a ritualistic manner. Evidence supports others were killed by this method as well.

There have been no end of suspects in this case. It seems to be split who the killers are depending on where you came from. The Jews think the Italian Mob killed the victim. They called them Romans back then. My side of the fence believes the Jews killed this young man.

It is very clear to me that the Jews hired an Italian hit man to kill a Jew.

What makes this case even more interesting is the Italian Mob buries this guy in a tomb. They roll a big rock in front of it and mob soldier stands guard. 3 days after the Jewish guy is put in the tomb he disappears like a puff of smoke into the sky.

This case is two pronged. Who killed the kid and how did the kid disappear. The voting is split. About 1 Billion believe the supernatural and the other billion or so believes it never happened.

I guess there are some things we will never prove. Deny that this happened and the believers will tell you, Sorry, Charlie, no room for you up here.

Oh My God. Lololol. Thank you. I needed to laugh today.

I did not know this about Rifkin.....

http://m.cbsnews.com/fullstory.rbml?catid=57576616&feed_id=1&videofeed=null

In an exclusive 2011 interview with CBS-2's Mary Calvi, Rifkin talked about his killing spree."Certain things are very hard to stop," Rifkin said. "You think of people as things."

He said he disposed of the bodies in threes."There were mini clusters, little sets of three," Rifkin said. "Three were dismembered. Three were in oil drums. Some were in water. Some were on land. It's like my own little nightmare scenarios."

Rifkin painstakingly covered up his crimes. He researched past crimes for details."Water is harder to investigate than land because it washes everything," he said.

Throughout his trial and incarceration, Rifkin still could not explain one thing: why."I don't know. Why do people try to quit smoking for their entire lives?" Rifkin said. "As much as I say I wanted to stop, there probably would've been others."

Joel Rifkin, 34, is transferred to District Court 29 June, 1993 in Farmingdale, NY after police said he confessed to killing as many as 17 women./ BOB STRONG/AFP/Getty Images

Although he denies it, I have wondered if some of the dismembered victims aren't his.

The point of the post is: YOU REALLY CAN'T PROVE ANYTHING WITH A CERTAINTY. The only thing I can think of we know for SURE is EVERYBODY DIES. And, then, 1980 years ago somebody said that wasn't true, and billions of billions of people for 2000 years have pretty much bought into it. BTW - I am Catholic and today is Easter.

Funny story? One day at about Noon my boss was telling me I will argue about most anything. He said if he said the sun was shining I would say it is night time. I told him you are right - on the other side of the world it is midnight.

I suggested a certain individual in the PD abused prostitutes and was so charged with same by the PD. Tried to prove that was true by requesting a FOIL. Won't give it to you. Forget about proving he impregnated a prostitute and had a child. The Family Court records, if there are any are sealed.

Prove? Prove what? When the SUV was broken into the press reported a bag was taken out of the car. It didn't mention anything about child *advertiser censored*. Can't prove the owner didn't go into the precinct house and cleared the room and beat a handcuffed man - then he took the bag with him.

More than 300 people have been exonerated with DNA. At least 78 of those convicted and now exonerated gave 'confessions'. No one in LE has been charged with malicious prosecution or charged with perjury. How are you going to prove it? How about just following the yellow brick road and see where it leaves you.

I don't think he'll ever be caught. I think that if they really wanted to catch him, they would ask the public for help. And that's including other girls in that profession.
My daughter has lived that lifestyle for about 11 years now, she has worked the streets and also works as an escort. I think a little different that most here. I think its the same guy.
My daughter explained to me that when she first started back in 2002 the internet was almost nonexistent so they worked the streets or the "track" as she calls it. Around that time the police didn't really care but about a year later they took to cleaning up the streets and she moved on to the internet, she still works the streets when its slow for her. I think if they really wanted to catch him, they would interview the girls on the streets without arresting them. There are probably a whole lot of victims out there that are alive and probably hold the key.
MOO

I didn't get it until I got to the part about the rock in front of the tomb! :floorlaugh:

Thanks, MK. I was just trying to use humor to make a point. There is NOTHING that can't be disputed if you care to do so. NOTHING!

I CAME ACROSS one poster that is one of our better posters. I believe this very well spoken poster's' day job' is delivering pizzas for a Nassau County restaurant.

What you folks think you see is something you might really be getting.

Regarding this case by shooting from the hip? What I see is 5 different bodies in one place. 4 were dumped. The last one we still aren't sure how she really got there. We know how one of the gals got there (SG) and we know where she went and how she got there.

We also know SG used Craigslist to advertise her wares as the other 4 gals did. Using Craigslist means there was a lot of communications between the customers and gals.

We also know that at least 2 of the gals worked out of The Holiday Inn.

I will tell you one thing - if I had that much information to work on before I even started I would think I hit the Lotto. A great place to start even if it was later shown to be spinning my wheels until something better came along.

I agree with you so much.

And I have to add:

Most of the "Confessions" to murders that get exonerated by DNA were those confessions that came after being interrogated for 12 hours straight. In my opinion that is a form of torture and we should have some sort of law against that.

Neither JB nor AD are credible, but both claim SG did not use Craig's list.

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/06/jersey_city_prostitute_still_m.html

"It’s been widely reported that Gilbert and Brewer, the john, linked up through Craigslist that night. But Brewer hinted that those reports are incorrect. He would only say that he was on a “social networking” website and saw a photo of a woman’s face, a face that later did not match Gilbert’s."

"Her boyfriend, Diaz, said if she didn’t use Craigslist, she would have used backpage.com, an online marketplace where customers can book an escort, a stripper or dominatrixes, transsexuals or specialists in fetishes".

You're right, they said it wasn't Craigslist. I mentally lump all those types (online escort ads - no matter the specialty &/or fetish) of social networking sites together. Maybe I'm wrong... maybe the detail of exactly which site they used does make a difference.

I'd tend to agree, especially since MBB also answered "model shoot" gigs--there is that MM site ;o
