Juries I have served on, the forepersons usually have leadership qualities, or prior to deliberation, are perceived as being fair and open-minded, or independent thinkers by their juror peers. This has been my experience only.

IMO, unlikely that he was able to "manipulate" anyone given the 8/4 split.

I've viewed 3 of the foreperson's interviews. Personally, I don't detect any signs of "affection" for convicted murderer Jodi Arias.

Members may be media/trial junkies, but jurors may not be.

3 interviews? I thought there was only one! The Good Morning America

Any links to the other ones

Yeah, and I am really confused now...because they couldn't agree....but then the Foreman said that they thought that when they got called into court, that was the judge telling them that now the judge would take over and decide LWOP or LWP. So does that mean that the 8 for death were okay with that? Or is this just the Foreman making things up on behalf of the rest of the jurors?

From what he said on AZcentral interview, it sounded like a lot of them just wanted to take the burden off them and put it on the judge. But then that goes against what they signed up for!! I thought they were death-qualified?? I do not get this at all....

I wonder if thats what the foreman hoped for. Its my understanding that the judge could have chosen that or to retry the penalty phase with new jurors. They 8 that held out for dp were counting on this imo.
it is my understsnding that if the 2nd jury cannot come to a unanimous verdict then dp is off the table and the judge will decide her sentencing.

I will show my age but this was my first favorite song ever! and still to this day one of the best movies from my younger years.

Hope I'm not being a buttinski. I've only posted a little over the trial but I've been following with all you guys. Today's news was just too bad.

I just downloaded Gone Girl! Hoping to clear my head with it.

Two movie suggestions for another time. They are a little quirky (Big Bang fans might enjoy) and definitely very sweet and feel-good.

Robot & Frank (2013)

Safety Not Guaranteed (2012)

I love your Oscar avatar!

He's on a media tour to rival that of Arias, talking about how the poor poor manipulative murdering evil ***** was emotionally/verbally abused. How he wants to "reach out to her"

It's not making much sense at all. I hope they'll have some lawyers address these issues on all the shows. I have a feeling he's REALLY going to regret speaking to MSM.

Im thinking if he checked the verdict box, then that is what he meant to do. Check the verdict box. Its interesting that in doing so he thought he was going to get his way imo

Mr. Foreman is shocked that the penalty phase was ruled a mistrial...

He thought it would go to the judge and she would decide lwop or lwp...

It blows my mind that the jury had no idea what would happen...

They thought they had spared Arias...

yea i don't understand, even i understood that from the jury instructions the judge read - only thin i can think or is that i read this is a new law only for the last 8months, so maybe some relied on previous experience or previous court cases they had read about??? just don't know

Thanks for posting all these. Will get to them tomorrow. I'm wondering if all these jurors were not really death qualified to begin with. How can this be investigated?

I'm not wanting to bash anyone but if the jury didn't know that coming back to the Judge would mean a mistrail/hung jury on the penalty phase, then there's a failure to communicate and a understanding on how the procedure works. gah & bad words...

I know all the news said it was a question, how did a question from the jury turn into a hung jury? Judge S? got me?

I think there's a lesson to be learned somewhere in this sad decision. jmo

She was sooo damn CALM then. I wonder when her raging whack-attack side started.

I know nancy really sensationalizes cases, but I try to put that into perspective. I think she really cares and is a good person.
