Toronto homicide Det. Mike Carbone said 22 division did a "thorough investigation" of Laura Babcock's disappearance.

Shawn Lerner, Laura Babcock's ex-boyfriend, told the Star he gave the phone records to police last summer.

Police said they only received Laura Babcock's phone records a few weeks ago, but Laura's ex-boyfriend told the Star otherwise.

Police conducting a comprehensive review of phone records and have confirmed Dellen Millard had phone contact with Laura Babcock.

He seemed very unorganized IMO, like someone who was just thrown in to say something to try to redeem the TPS lack of investigating into either LB or WM. His public speaking skills were poor, he seemed to lack information regarding either LB or WM, and quite frankly where is his media person to facilitate? (HPS has someone, why not TPS?)

A total waste of time and a CYA press conference IMO. Sad.

This was exactly my sense--like he drew the short straw and was forced to go talk to the public against his will, and resented it.

the whole thing cracked me up - when asked if WM had fiancé he said he wasn't going to deal with rumours ((sounds like a no to me or a lot like I don't know or don't bug me)

Now we wait a few days to give LE a chance to catch up with the information media gave to them today during the pc, then LE will give another pc to confirm what info was given to them today by media. LOL

the human trafficking angle is ugly.....

Someone just asked about the *advertiser censored* photos that DM took.

Oh god, the LE representative hasn't even heard about them.

I think we are all on our own folks. Jeesh, we will have this case solved and the presser will be they found the stolen wood chipper from Oakville works department.

"I can say that [Babcock and Millard] were romantically linked, although I would not say they had a traditional dating relationship," said Det. Mike Carbone.

“There appears to be contact on July 3, 2012, between Laura Babcock and Mr. Dellen Millard,” said Det. Mike Carbone at the news conference.
“We are attempting to speak to other individuals who have been identified as having contact with Laura.”

A dedicated phone line has been set up for the Babcock investigation at 416-808-2280.

Toronto Police are not investigating any other crimes in connection with Millard.

Records indicate Babcock and Millard were in touch on July 3, 2012, Carbone said, nine days before Babcock was reported missing by her ex-boyfriend.
Carbone said police became aware of the phone records after Millard’s arrest in relation to the disappearance of Ancaster, Ont. father Bosma.

maybe we should just go to Tim's drive thru and hit the road looking for her -- better odds

AFTER we pick up the reward $$ for locating the stolen chipper

Good grief. Maybe we better start sending in some stuff to the tipline. Never assumes LE knows.

Where are these new photos of Laura that were released? (releasing?)

Your comment just about summed up this whole entire investigation in a nutshell.

I swear if I am ever murdered you guys have my permission to take over the case. I live on a farm, if I go missing, I need 300 people to go over every inch of this property to look for me. Not just 10 feet from the barn and 50 feel from the house. OK??

So does this mean that they are not looking into theft crimes on DM?
What about the chop shop?
Or is Toronto Homicide not investigating any other crimes?

Funny my spouse just said the same thing. So what, they got a tip, dug a few holes and called it a day, nothing to see here? It's a FARM for crying out loud. You can bet they didn't comb the entire farm with the "high tech" equipment they had at their disposal" And why not?!?!?!?

I'm thinking "the better our sleuthers get, the worse these pressers are to us!"

:grouphug:

Yes Virginia, there really is a World beyond Websleuths

;)

Never mind hitting the road, lets get all of us over to that damn farm and start our own search. Bring dogs, shovels and go over every square inch of that property. Instead of being reactive LE, be a little proactive.

And, yes, it is time you guys called in your tips.

Would LE ever hold a press conference to say that they have NOT found a missing person, or to state that they no longer believe there is a connection to their original suspect?

I'm just curious if anyone has ever seen something like that happen?

Never, until I came to Ontario.
