GUILTY TN - Four dead in car along rural road, Renegade Mountain, 12 Sept 2013

Sorry, just let me know if I need to remove the link or edit my post to say that it's not an official link. I love the site, so I don't want to start off on the wrong foot :)

I did find this link:
http://www.heavy.com/news/2013/09/jacob-allen-bennett-renegade-mountain-murder/

It also says she was related to one of the victims, has their photos, and a map of the location. A few of the news articles I read said that he knew the victims to some degree. I wonder how? He seems a bit older in age as a former classmate.

One question I have is, did the 4 victims live on Renegade Mt.? Could Ms. Jacobsen have been driving the group to work or school?

And thank goodness her little boy was not with them!

This is interesting from the link:
Bennett Was Suspected Immediately

The latest info from a Knoxville news station...

Authorities are not releasing exactly what occurred on Renegade Mountain because they believe it isn't appropriate at this point. TBI, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and the district attorney said their investigation is continuing, and they're still collecting evidence.

I read that one boy went to another boy's house with plans to go four-wheeling.

How horrible. I cannot imagine.. especially in such a tiny community.

I read that too. It kind of sounds like he lured them there with the promise of four wheeling. Maybe a robbery gone horribly wrong?

...Michael Rick, who lives with Lajeunesse's family, said he dropped the 16-year-old at Presley's house on Wednesday afternoon.
Lajeunesse mentioned that the pair were going to go four-wheeling at Renegade Mountain and spend the night at his friend's house.
The next day, Lajeunesse didn't call Rick to be picked up.
"You just get that gut feeling when nothing is right," Rick said.

I have a question - was the car on the side of the road facing towards the community or away from? In other words was RJ driving the teenagers back home after their outing or were they perhaps on their way out for another reason?

Hi team
I note that the victims were found 7am. Has there been mention of when they were shot? Possibly just before MN?

Good questions! Here is some info that may help answer. From what I understand, it looks like they were headed into the subdivision, and they had been deceased around 12 hours when found at 7AM:

Burgess added that all the victims were believed to be from Cumberland County despite them not being positively identified at press time. It is believed all four died from gunshot wounds and that their bodies had not been at the scene for more than 12 hours when discovered.

A man and woman on their way to work noticed a car parked on the gravel road leading to Eagle Nest subdivision and thought it odd, so they stopped to check on it. The man walked up to the vehicle, spotted four bodies inside and notified 911 of the discovery. -

Thanks Reader. I'm still looking for a reasonable time-frame.

Next step plse. We can therefore consider that RJ has possibly picked the boys up after their 4-wheel outing and was heading home for supper.
(excuse me... I'm on the other side of the globe) How's daylight time there - when's sunset? When's supper time - don't tell me - teenage boys eat all the time, but you know what I mean.

Car headlights were probably not on or would likely have been mentioned for the reason to stop.
No-one was reported missing that night were they? If not, then we can suggest the carload may have all been heading back to RJ's for the night.

I note that there was no security at the complex anymore which leads me to question - Can we consider that the POI was on his way out after a robbery and the victims were potential witnesses? They all knew each other so would not have been 'on their guard'.

"The suspect knew the victims to some degree,” District Attorney General Randy York said during a news conference Friday but would not elaborate.

-cut-

TBI Director Mark Gwyn declined to say if drugs were involved in the slayings but said drugs are involved in 90 to 95 percent of all crime.

Both of these statements were very calculated. They don't want to go into details yet, but this is the focus of the investigation.

I found these 2 pieces of info interesting:

Four people found shot to death on Thursday in a car near a former Tennessee mountain resort were deliberately targeted and not the victims of random violence, authorities said.

Angela Presley, mother of Steven Presley, 17, says her son left
Wednesday to go to Renegade Mountain to hang out with friends.

"I just had this gut feeling that something wasn't right when he never came home," said Presley.

Did they all go together or did they meet somewhere? Was the POI part of that group? Nothing was said about ATVing and they didn't have one with them.

Mountain Misst, nothing has been said about any of the victims being reported as missing so far. As far as daylight, I checked Knoxville and it shows sunrise a little after 7am and sunset about 8pm. For supper/dinner just depends on the family, but usually around 7-8pm. Also, 7pm would be close to 12 hours before they were found at 7am the next morning.

I'm still wondering about LE saying the POI was 'immediately suspected'. Did he leave something at the site that ID'd him? Had he made threats toward one/all of the group before?

This seems like a long time to have reported almost nothing about such a sensational crime.

Just from my strictly going by the world wide web in scouring for any/all info IMO what I have gathered from the local comments on the local news media sites is that there was a history btwn the killer and atleast one of the victims(quite likely more than just one of the victims)..but that especially with one victim in particular the two had a recent history of trouble and conflict ..jmo and just from scouring to read every bit of info that I could find this morning on the web.

Its my opinion that it is this known connection btwn Jacob and one of the victims, along with the known major conflict btwn the two in the very recent past..it is these reasons that LE "immediately had suspicions about Jacob."..jmo, tho.

**Please forgive the limitations that come w/my posting via mobile ATM**

re POI Connection to one possibly two of the victims - we know that RJ is the aunt of DD. I thought POI may have a connection to that family rather than the teens due to the age difference. POI is 26.
There has been no mention anywhere of RJ's 4 year old. I gather she was a single mom and not living with the child's father. Would RJ not be missed when she didn't turn up to collect her child after being out with the teens? If she had left the child home alone all night there would have been all sorts of ruckus in the media wouldn't there? Is the little one the centre of this?

"Renegade Mountain resident David Schlabach ..."Saw a suspicious vehicle in the cul de sac there and stumbled across it," he said.

Inside, Schlabach found the bodies of Rikki Danielle Jacobsen, 22, Steven Presley, 17, Dominic Davis, 17, and 16-year-old John Lajeunesse.

"I was shocked, very shocked to see dead bodies," he said.

Schlabach said he had seen two of the individuals before around Renegade Mountain. He also said he had met 26-year-old Jacob Allen Bennett.

Schlabach said Bennett seemed like a normal individual.

"We rode four wheelers together," he said. "We hung out."

That's part of the reason, Schlabach said he was surprised to hear Bennett was connected to the case."I would have never guessed something like that would have occurred," he said."

So.... Any news? Any more from our locals? What's with the crickets around this case?

Just saw this case-been away a while....now I know why. It's so hard to take.

Perp looks like a meth-head Aryan Brotherhood type to me. Mods if you need to-delete my post. It's just my opinion and I am so sorry for the deceased families. I am especially angry for the teenagers slaughtered.

No words. What a heinous crime.
