This is more than likely the type of bridge they were trying to jump. You can see in this picture that when the floating part of the bridge is out for the boat to pass the edges that connect to it are up. They probably tried to use that as ramps to jump up.

Anyone could have made the mistake. I live in Houma now too, but I used to live in Lafourche parish and the only reason I knew that Thibodaux was in Lafourche parish is cause anything we needed to, we had to go there to do it.

Acrually, Thibodaux is in Lafourche Parish. Assumption is to the northwest of Lafourche. The incident itself actually took place in Pierre Part But, I do agree... as an educator, I'm appalled. I could not imagine putting my hands on a student. I don't see how someone could do it.
