I'm no forensic expert, but that seems like it would be plenty of time to scrub a vehicle clean, especially if there was little/no blood involved - I don't say it can conclusively ruled out as a transport vehicle. I was interested in seeing how capable it was in terms of terrain, it looks like...
Wow, not a lot to go on, it sounds like you guys are taking the right approach to searching though - has any actual ground searching been done in those areas?
I'm still getting up to speed - assuming it was a "DIY" job - what sort of window did the SiL have to dump the evidence, time-wise and is it known what type of vehicle he might have used?
I can't say that I'd know, I guess you'd just make discreet verbal contact with some sort of unsavory character (drug dealer, ex-con, etc) and see where it led - maybe I watch too many movies though...
