I have followed this case as best I've been able, but RL has been quite busy.
I have a terrible gut feeling that this is going to turn out to be one of those bizarre cases that are never solved.
I sincerely hope I am wrong. Whoever killed those youngsters with their whole lives ahead of them...
Burma. I voted for Hemmerling for this reason alone.
I followed Rebecca's case from Day 2 at the earliest, and when it was ruled suicide I said to myself, this stinks more than a room full of rabid skunks.
Now this is interesting. DePape entered the country legally. He stayed then stayed past his visa expiration date.
In a world of limited resources, I figure in the last 14 years, tracking down a Canadian who overstayed his visa would be way down on the priority list...

With all due respect, I don't interpret what you bolded as cause (talks with KK) and effect (RA's name resurfacing) as much as simply a statement that the two things happened at roughly the same time.
It would be interesting for sure to know why RA's name came up when it did.
With all due respect, there's nothing about abuse in the story. It describes a domestic incident where RA's wife took him to the hospital. If it were a domestic violence incident, the article would have said so, and if RA was beating on his wife I doubt if she would have been taking him to the...
