I am from Indiana, about 30 miles south of Delphi and we use the term "guys" all the time - for male or female. I think it's a Midwestern thing.

I agree about the religious references. Superintendent Carter also spoke about death and eternity in regards to a book he read and the killer. I feel as if he's speaking to someone who has had a belief in God and tries to appeals to their conscience. This has to be someone involved in clergy...
