A really good example of how just ONE molester can change the path of a LOT of family members, including how they view sex and incest, is the documentary "Just, Melvin" which aired on HBO in 2001. When you're molested from a very young age, you might grow up thinking that all families engage in this type of sexual activity, especially in an isolated rural community. The film is on youtube, it is very graphic and disturbing so be forewarned, but everyone should see it. It pretty much describes a lot of what we see in the Wood case with interfamilial, intergenerational child abuse:

Very powerful, disturbing stuff. It gives great perspective into Brittney's world, I believe. Thanks so much for posting this. Definitely worth watching, but not while eating. It's that disgusting and awful.

All the info we have is coming from family and could all be bogus information!
Did she really leave Chessies house at 7 30?

Who spoke to her (not text)?
Who last saw her and where?

Heck she could have been gone long before. Just because a phone pings does not mean the person is with the phone!

I live in the Mobile, AL area and this case has us all sick at our stomachs. There are 6 family members so far who have been arrested. This may have already been discussed, but one of the "fathers" in this ring took his little girl to meet another family member and he sat there and watched the man rape her. This family is sick. How in the world did all of them become this way? I just know that Brittney's disappearance has something to do with the family ring. She may have been trying to protect her little girl from molestation and something happened to shut her up.

It's funny. I remember a year ago, being at home and preparing Thanksgiving dinner while we tried to source these same facts. The debate went on for about a week, as I recall. I'll look through my notes to see if I can fill in any of the blanks here.

From the case facts thread, first correction I see already - 6/1/2012 Donald Holland attempts suicide.
6/4/2012 Donald Holland dies.

Wood was last seen May 30 heading to Baldwin County and the Styx River area with her uncle, Donald Holland.

Deputies said Holland was found two days later with a self-inflicted gunshot wound on June 1. He died in the hospital June 4.

The uncle who molested the filmmaker is a particularly good example - he was abused by his stepfather and watched his stepfather abuse all of his sisters, thus saw nothing wrong with abusing his nephew, and also thought nothing of propositioning his half-sister as an adult. His mind was warped to believe that if you're isolated and lonely, your sisters are the next best thing to satisfy your sexual needs.
