this dismissal is very interesting...how could all these charges just be dismissed? too many strange things going on in this entire case.
JMO

Ita.

On the one side we've got the CSI crew -solve it in 60 minutes!

On the other there are those who think "this mess is only just starting to be untangled" - myself and possibly LE who clearly have no intentions of rushing this far-reaching investigation, nor of releasing detailsof their progress.

Its one thing when its a single perp but how long do investigations take when you have multiple offenders all lying for each other?

Seems to me a shortcut would be - arrest someone involved for something minor, then offer a PLEA BARGAIN in exchange for blabbing.

JC got off on his road rage incident. Dimissed, all 5 charges.

There was no trial in the state case. The state charges were dismissed when the grand jury indicted him in federal court. Trial is set for February. Here is the Waterloo Courier article that shows the federal charges:

Maybe they will close the BURGLARY 3RD DEGREE charge out as well but it's still open as of today. The other two were 9/3 for road rage/gun/knife & this one came on 9/4, iirc. I'll keep checking on it anyway. Once he's sentenced on the federal charge, that little burglary charge won't matter much though.

Iowa’s county attorneys are pressing legislators to expand state law in the wake of kidnapping tragedies in Dayton and Evansdale in the last two years.

Under priorities sent to the Legislature by the Iowa County Attorneys Association, anyone who is convicted of kidnapping a person under the age of 16 would be guilty of a Class B felony and face 25 years in prison. The change would make kidnapping a child a specific criterion that could lead to a longer prison sentence, said Corwin Ritchie, executive director of the association.

BBM Here's where it gets interesting.......

Wayne Nathem operates CBC Freight in Waterloo. Like so many people, he's hoping for the best, yet fearing the worst, for the two young girls missing from Evansdale.

"We hope everything turns out the best for the whole family. And as parents, I feel saddened the girls haven't been found by now," Nathem said.

As part of the investigation into their disappearance, police went to CBC and looked through every vehicle. Nathem's co-worker Katie Torrey says her son was also questioned by police because he drives a white van. Torrey says that's just another way the missing cousins case has hit home with her.

"I have grandkids that are small, 18 down to four, and yes, I worry about them. I grew up in Evansdale and nothing like that every happened," said Torrey.

But Torrey and Nathem don't mind the minor inconvenience of searches and extra attention by police.

"Every leaf has to be turned over for the safe return of these two girls, you know. We're more than willing to cooperate with them. We had already check our vehicles prior to them coming over, and we encouraged them to go ahead and check again," Nathem said.

I don't recall reading this info before, but my memory is faulty at best!

I'd like to know if this unnamed son of the co-worker mentioned in the article has been on anyone's radar.

According to the link I posted, WN had his trucks searched around 8/2/12 according to link.. This is the same person connected to JC's charges :scared:

Why? + NCO.

eta: I don't understand all that legal mumbo jumbo

Here is what was discussed on thread #34. I went back to try to dig something up to jog my memory on this. I was thinking we had discovered a connection more specific than JC and WN just having some issues.

BBM.

The article in the Courier posted the company as GBC...it is CBC. The owner and Jeramiah have "issues" apparently, and Nathem is the "harrassed". One of the employees was questioned back in August, as you can see from my snip of the article.

MOO

One day we will find the perp that did this if it is not Klunder I wonder why they have not released a statement to the fact either he is connected or is not why so long in knowing ?? Strange ...

Usually a greased wheel get's running better I just do not understand why Klunder has not been ruled out or in . What seems to be taking le so very long . ???Maybe they need a new focus and some extra help .

They dont need help.

:moo:

If they did they would ask for it just like the early dsys.

I want LE to take their time & have all their ducks in a row when they make their arrest/announce the person(s) responsible for this horrendous crime so the charges stick.

I live in the area and I remember, right after Klunder's suicide, the police said they would announce within 3 weeks if he was involved or not. They never did.

I wish I understood that...

Why would LE be happy to keep the residents in Evansdale in the dark regarding Klunder?

There must be a compelling reason - I suggest that they are happy to have this question mark because it suits them.

I did believe Klunder "didn't even come on the radar" due to incompetence but a bit more thought makes me believe he wasn't looked at because they have their perp and it is NOT a random crime.

Silence fits with an undercover op which also fits with certain people being arrested then plea bargaining their problems away.

I've been reading a little bit about Forensic Hypnosis which is an interesting subject. Below is a case in 1976 where it was used.

1976 Chowchilla kidnapping - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Ray was able to remember the license plate number of one vehicle under hypnosis, which led to the capture of the kidnappers as they attempted to flee to Canada."

I wonder if they could use this on the three people who saw the "white boxy" vehicle near the park that day. Maybe they would remember more details. As far as I can tell right now Texas is the only state that is using this. I have to go back as see what case they used it for. It seems that it is more effective with incidents that have happened recently opposed to long term memory incidents, but it can still be used in long term memories if there is information in the memory recall that can be checked out for accuracy.
