Great thread here; I love hearing all the different viewpoints.

In an advisory to American doctors, the CDC says that the flu vaccine may not work against the most common strain of flu that’s making its way through the U.S.

The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have warned doctors that flu vaccines may not be effective against the most common strain of flu circulating in the U.S..

(Reuters) - The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday it is too late to make new flu vaccines for the current flu season that could better protect against the predominant flu virus now circulating in the United States

I retract EVERYTHING I said, and will explain when I feel better, but I'll never miss another.

It has to be better than death's door.

It's 40% effective instead of the normal 60%. It's because the virus mutates.

I haven't got sick yet, even though I have been around others that were sick. My daughter who works in the food industry and is constantly exposed to many people, hasn't got sick yet. My granddaughters who have been in class with many children that are projectile vomiting, haven't gotten sick yet.

I am going to say that I think the flu shot has helped to prevent us from getting sick, so far this year. (knock on wood)

Interesting article, thought I would share.........

So,, if this happens with this vaccine, it very well could with others.

I have seen so much false and even dangerous information posted on that website. A lot of the "authors" are individuals that write nothing more than opinion pieces and twist things according to their own beliefs or for their own agenda. I would never believe anything from that site without much further research.

Read about becoming a author (blog poster) http://blogs.naturalnews.com/write-for-naturalnews/

We are late getting them this year because we couldn't afford any downtime prior to the holidays, but I plan to make appointments to get the shots in early Jan.

.

I have a question .... does anyone know anybody who got the flu shot and still ended up getting the flu ???

Yes, my husband and I both got the flu shot and both still got the flu.

They aren't 100% effective due to the flu virus' ability to mutate. It is still a possibility that you can get the flu after the vaccine. Also if a person has a weakened immune system they may not develop immunity to the virus from the vaccine, same with all vaccines. The vaccine also makes the flu less severe however if you catch it but received the vaccine for that year's closest strain.

I didn't save the notes , but the other day I came across a medical study that said...

--Out of 100 people in the USA 4 will get the flu if they were not vaccinated

--Out of 100 people who were vaccinated only 1 will get the flu

They then used those figures to state a person has a 75% more of chance to get the flu if they are not vaccinated ... sounds scary at first glance , it is technically true , but it is also a play on numbers.

I look at it a different way .... to vaccinate 100 people in order to prevent flu in only 3 people sounds like a big campaign which produces miniscule results

And to look at it in the truest sense 96% of the people were never ever going to get the flu in the first place

Yet I suppose if I got one of those nasty strains of flu I would regret not getting the shot

Trust me~ You would! I think it was the 24th or 25? I posted in here. I'm still not able to sit up & type a longA$$ post, but I will never ever again, miss one of these shots. I would get sick with the flu, but I have never had anything hit me like this thing has. I can't remember Christmas just bits & pieces, and NYE? Forget it!

Hubby caught this and passed it to me 3 days ago. I HAD the flu shot, but I feel like I could just die! This one is an A$$-kicker!

That's not the only thing it kicks. I'm having to eat pedi pops to keep from becoming
dehydrated.

Thankfully, they taste good.

Sending you healing vibes Tulessa! This is the first season I worked at Kohl's where I didn't get sick.

Everyone I know who has gotten the flu shot this season has gotten the flu. I have friends who got the shot who are laid up sick as a dog as we speak. Jmo
