OH OH - Zaden McKnight, 4, & mom Nichelle, 25 (fnd dec'd), Dayton, 29 March 2014

There have been searches by groups since Zaden disappeared but this is the best news I've read so far.

Texas EquuSearch to join Zaden McKnight searchers

By Breaking News Staff
The group searching for Zaden McKnight has teamed up with Texas EquuSearch and is planning another search for Saturday.

Monday night, local group organizer Victoria Moore said they are trying to get 100 to 200 total volunteers and will utilize 20 canoes and kayaks for the latest search scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on the holiday weekend.

“There’s nothing wrong with another set of eyes coming in and going back over. Plus the river is down some. What the river takes it will usually give back up at some point in time and, with the weather being as good as it and the water being down, this is the perfect example of — this is when we need to hit it hard,” said Rader.

Rader says it won’t be easy emotionally or even tactically to find Zaden. He says the little boy's small body makes it a more difficult task.

National group aids in missing boy search

A national group entered the months-long search for a missing 4-year-old boy on Saturday, joining with local volunteers for an all-day combing of the area around a north Dayton waterway. Texas Equusearch grouped with the ongoing effort, dubbed “Team Zaden,” to look for 4-year-old Zaden McKnight. The boy hasn’t been seen since March, and his mother’s dead body was found in April. Police have said the boy is also presumed dead. The group worked from about 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and did not find the boy. Dave Rader, Texas Equusearch search coordinator, said about 40 volunteers were involved in Saturday’s search.

The search for the body of Zaden McKnight made an unsuccessful return Monday to the Riverview Park Apartments on Riverside Drive in Harrison Twp.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Maj. Daryl Wilson said deputies searched more than 500 individual apartments for any clues about McKnight, whom law enforcement presume is dead...

Volunteer groups have aided in the search along the river banks. Efforts have included a search this past weekend by a dozen people from the Ohio chapter of the national volunteer search organization, Texas EquuSearch.

Harris found guilty in McKnight case

Tonisha Harris, 30, pleaded no contest in front of Judge Dennis Langer with family and friends of McKnight in the gallery wearing lime green T-shirts that read “Where is Zaden?” in blue print on the front and #daytonstrong on the back. Langer found Harris guilty on all counts.

Langer said there was no agreement regarding a prison term and he ordered a pre-sentence investigation report to consider before Harris’ Aug. 14 sentencing. In court documents, Langer ruled that only one of the eight counts would merge for sentencing, so the maximum Harris could serve is seven years in prison.

None of the eight fifth-degree felony counts are tied to McKnight’s death, but prosecutors have said that the investigation is ongoing.

I can only hope this brings the family closer to real answers. I truly hope real movement will occur over the next 10 months (or less) - as this defendant-now-convict continued committing her crime spree (ETA) with charges pending in other counties.

(snip)

The memo pointed out Harris’ “extensive” criminal history, including numerous cases in Montgomery County involving a firearm, receiving stolen property, theft and forgery. Harris has additional crimes in Butler County for theft and forgery, Greene County for identity fraud, Miami County for theft and passing bad checks and Fairborn Municipal Court for petty theft.

Langer recounted that history in court and said that despite eight separate theft convictions since 2007, Harris has failed in her attempts at Intervention in Lieu of Conviction and probation.

“Even though you served nine months in prison for a theft offenses, you continue to commit these theft crimes, and you even do it, as I’ve indicated, while you were on supervision for probation or ILC,” Langer said.

I am going to have faith that this is a piece to a larger picture LE is putting together :please: Otherwise ten months doesn't seem like much when the DA was asking for 7 years. :twocents:

Coupons Towards Zaden McKnight Reward Fund

Organizers are hoping to up the reward fund for the search for Zaden McKnight.

The four-year-old has been missing since March of 2014.

[snip]

Team Zaden is now moving forward with their search efforts by increasing the reward fund for information. Midas has reached out to the group in hopes to help them raise money. They have given Team Zaden 500 $20 coupons for a free oil change or 25$ off any service. All the proceeds will go to the reward fund.

"If we can sell all 500 of those cards, we will have raised the reward fund to $10,000," said Moore.

Tonisha L. Harris was “intimately involved” in the deaths of Nichelle McKnight and her 4-year-old son, Zaden, Dayton police Chief Richard Biehl told WHIO TV during an exclusive interview this afternoon.

The McKnight homicide investigation concluded and was turned over to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office weeks ago, Biehl said. The chief said Harris — serving a 10-month sentence until late March for charges related to using McKnight’s credit cards — is the only remaining living suspect.

“We are awaiting a response from that review of the prosecutor’s office and we are anticipating additional charges against another individual,” Biehl said. “And that individual would be Tonisha Harris.”

1 year later, questions remain about Nichelle & Zaden McKnight

Not knowing how her daughter really died, not knowing if her grandson is alive– not knowing this is what Williams says is the worst part of her grief.

These are the answers she needs, though police have already presumed that the little boy is dead.

Police Chief Richard Biehl says he too wants answers; his staff, partnered with the city’s prosecutor’s office, has worked tirelessly to find the truth.

“It’s a case that needs justice. And we– obviously, we know the individuals who was intimately linked to that crime– that person did kill themselves as approached by police,” Biehl said. “But another individual (Harris) who is also involved in this crime and we’re waiting for the — Prosecutor’s Office and for justice to be served.”

And until that day, Michelle Williams is pleading for information.

“I mean just go ahead and speak out what they know, what they think they know,” she urges. “You know, so we all can come with some closure now.”

If you have any information on the McKnights’ case, you’re urged to call police.

She was scheduled to go on trial Oct. 5, but she waived her rights and entered guilty pleas for the first two charges and pleaded no contest for the gross abuse of a corpse charge. However, Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Steven Dankof found her guilty on that count.

3 years later, questions remain in Zaden McKnight disappearance

http://wdtn.com/2017/03/22/3-years-later-questions-remain-in-zaden-mcknight-disappearance/

This week marks three years since Michelle Williams last saw her daughter and grandson.

Williams is frustrated after so much time still many questions remain.

“Each day I’m living hell. That’s what I’m doing,” said Williams with tears in her eyes.

The case cuts deep for law-enforcement too. No one has been charged with the murder of McKnight or the disappearance of Zaden.

The main suspect in this case, Antwan Anderson shot and killed himself after a police pursuit. Police believe Nichelle and Zaden may have been murdered in Anderson’s girlfriend’s basement. The girlfriend, Tonisha Harris is serving a 10 month prison sentence for credit card theft.

“We want this case solved. An attack on a child is an attack on our community,” said Crimestoppers coordinator Elmer Querubin.

Querubin says detectives have exhausted all leads in the case.

Michelle is holding onto hope that they will find Zaden alive, but police say they are looking for a body.

this case is so heartbreaking. this single mom seemed like she was trying to do right by her son and hold the two of them down and this skeezy, disgusting character stole from her and conspired with this other chick and KILLED A CHILD and his mom! it sickens and breaks my heart thinking of how afraid they were in their last moments. did they kill mom first? how scared Zaden would be. did they kill Zaden first? Nichelle probably didn't even want to live after that. all for under 3k. wtf. burn in hell antwan!

and even if harris didn't kill them or wasn't in that basement, she CLEANED UP. omg. im going to be sick.

Zaden McKnight - The four-year-old’s body has never been found but is presumed by police to have been killed along with this mother, Nichelle McKnight by her ex-boyfriend Antwan Anderson. Anderson fatally shot himself during a shootout with police about a week before McKnight's body was discovered in March 2014 behind apartments near the banks of the Stillwater River in Harrison Twp.

Property of the McKnights was found in the Birchwood Avenue Dayton residence of Tonisha Harris, who was later sentenced to three years in prison for tampering with evidence, failure to report a crime and gross abuse of a corpse.
