Furlough denied!!!!!!!

TC_MN Will you please post all the details of what happened today !! This is the only article I see: http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2015/04/23/pierre-collins-to-appear-at-hearing-thursday-afternoon/ and the article doesn't state what the purpose or purposes of the hearing are! Are you saying Pierre Collins' Public Defender asked that Pierre be let out to attend the Sat. funeral ??? STUNNING, JAW-DROPPING if that's what happened imo !! Also, was 'Pastor' present?? Present wife, of course... ? Still no delaying the funeral and burial a few days 'til bio' mom arrives?? I read that Libya government pleaded with 'Pastor' to wait for Little Edwin's Mom to arrive !!!

I just saw that channels 4 and 9 were present. Pierre Collins wanted to go spend time 'all alone' with Little Edwin (Barway) after the funeral and prior to the burial. Prosecution said 'big flight risk' and 'great likelihood this is murderer of the little boy' and judge agreed.

Yes, that pretty much sums it up. :)

He tried to get a "get out of jail" pass, he failed

Aha. Gee, I wonder why it didn't work.

Was his reason because he wanted to attend the funeral?

ETA: Or was his reason because he wanted to get a job to support his family obligations....

The only people there were two women from Hennepin County, not sure on name/title. Two reporters, another guy I have no idea who he was but the prosecutor did come back and talk to him. A Hennepin County victims advocate, pastor Dotson, one of Edwin's friends mom and myself

He wanted alone time with Edwin before the burial. I think he's smart enough to know he's not wanted at the funeral.

They said he wanted to say goodbye, but I think he wanted to say sorry.

Or maybe because an innocent man would want the chance to say goodbye and they are trying to convince the public? Now they can say "This poor man wasn't even given a chance to say goodbye..."

Ugh...

TC_MN: Will you please describe all you saw and gut-felt about Pierre Collins today??? Did you perceive today that he truly feels tremendous guilt??? That would NOT make sense to me, because, my understanding is that Pierre Collins is 'excited and looking forward' to trial and says he is innocent !

Was PC's public defender present?? 1 prosecutor and 1 public defender up at the tables??? Did judge actually say something about how it seems likely PC killed this precious little boy??

Bingo.

Judge denies Pierre Collins' request to see son's body
3:19 p.m. EDT April 23, 2015

A spokesperson with the Hennepin County Attorney's office tells KARE 11 News that Pierre Collins had an emergency hearing that last about 10 minutes Thursday afternoon. During that hearing Hennepin County Judge Tanya Bransford denied Collins' request.

"His attorney's asked for permission to have him taken to the funeral home before the funeral so he could say goodbye to his son," Chuck Laszewski said.

Bond for Pierre Collins has been set at $2 million. Pierre Collins is steadfastly maintaining his innocence.

TC_MN: How did you learn about this hearing when they say it was an 'emergency' --- how long ago was it requested???

I saw a post on FB by Rev. Dotson. He said someone from Hennepin County had called him. When I saw that post I cruzed over there.

This is a very condensed version and I'm paraphrasing alot:

Ok, so the hearing started by the defense (two gentlemen) stating their request was for PC to be granted a furlough to view his sons body before the burial.

Judge asked if they requested the same from the sheriff, they responded no.

Prosecution (Amy S.) requested their request be denied based on flight risk, that during the course of the investigation, law enforcement spent alot of time and resources on tracking his movements which proved to be very difficult. He is very sneaky.

She also reminded the court of the bail amount and there is good reason for that amount and that the investigation has resulted in alot of evidence to prove PC killed his own son and therefore should not have the privilege of saying goodbye.

Sorry, off topic, but that judge did my first marriage. I thought she seemed very nice. I like that she was the judge for this. I feel good about her.
I don't know how judges work, but she did state that this was a last minute addition to her docket because she's in the middle of a different trial right now.

ETA: I got the feeling that she was good as well. I also got the feeling her mind was made up before she sat down, we just went through the motions.

I think that would be trumped by the fact that Pierre denied Edwin's mom a chance to say goodbye. My opinion on that is Pierre doesn't want to share any (more) donation $'s with anyone other than HIS "associates". If he's so broken hearted and wants to be alone with his son then he can get in the grave that, IMO, he sent Edwin Barway to. Save the taxpayers some money seeing as we'll be paying for his upkeep along with his offsprings for years to come.

Right, I'm not saying I feel sorry for him, but I do think it might have been an attempt to appear innocent.

Can you please elaborate and tell us ALL you remember the pros' saying about PC being 'sneaky' and how the police were tailing/following him 24-7 and he would evade them or go to lengths to attempt to evade them??? Was it things like PC trying to sneak away in his car? Give the tailing-police the slip while he was driving his car? Using someone else's car? Giving the police the 'evil eye' while driving? Driving somewhere but not taking his cell phone? Turning off his cell phone? I assume you heard it said that the police did tail/follow/watch him 24-7 until the arrest, right??? Did the pros' use the word 'sneaky' --- what other words did pros' use (deceptive? tricky? hide? evade?)

Do you know of the Scott Peterson/Laci Peterson/Calif. murder case? Scott would evade the police, and taunt them, give them the finger, dyed his hair red, grew a beard, baseball caps way down low. Also, on arrest, in his trunk, Viagra, shovel, camping equipment....
