No. Petersburg is a low security prison. Victorville is a medium security facility.

Victorville is high security, extremely violent, and has a high amount of gang activity both in and out of prison there. Since it was just built in 2004, my guess is WH was moved either for a higher security, or due to crowding.

There is apparently more than one Victorville. The one listed on the BOP report is actually high security. There is another Victorville fed pen that is medium.

Wonder if he started at Petersburg and was moved due to an issue? Seems like if the judge recommended Petersburg and it was closer to home, they'd have at least started him there. Then again, I know nothing about prison (thank goodness!)

I am glad other people wondered this too, it has been something I have meant to ask. We brushed on it joking about the dates in relation to the McStay's but never really questioned why HE would be way out there.??

From what I can tell, the link you provided is for Virginia state facilities. His was a Federal crime, therefor he would be sentenced to a Federal prison.

So- together with that other thing maybe he was- but I was hoping to find some documentation where a court said so.
