59-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in Baltimore's Roland Park neighborhood as she was walking her dogs Friday night, police said.

Officers were called to the 600 block of W. University Parkway around 11 p.m. and found the victim, Molly K. Macauley. She was transported to an area hospital, where she died.

Police have not identified a suspect or provided a description of one. Detectives talked with nearby residents Saturday morning and have increased the police presence in the community, police said.

Her colleagues that commented seemed to have truly loved and respected her. The article did not say anything about family. She sounds like the kind of person that took care of responsibilities and would want her dogs to be okay. I hope someone rescues them.

It is so hard to understand when exemplary people are murdered like this. It sounds like it could have been a street ****. I hope they see the news and realize what they did. Even though I believe every human life to be equally important, and murder to be always undeserved and wrong, it is harder to understand when it is someone who appeared to, not just take the high road, but live on it.

I moved from that area 3 years ago, so this case is particularly tough. It's such a quaint area but very close to the Baltimore city line.

A true loss to the Space community. My daughter hopes to be an astronaut someday. I just shared this with her and she literally burst into :tears:

Its always a loss for wider community when such a brilliant person is taken away in such horrible manner. Its also a loss for Baltimore, which already has a terrible image nationwide with soaring murder rate (went drastically up after race riots last year).

They are not solving many murders in Baltimore, good if ca 30% of victims get justice.
Molly presumably had 2 big dogs with her, (one of them rather old presumably) but dogs didnt defend their owner against attacker/stabber. Nor was the attacker afraid of the dogs, maybe someone who knew the victim (and also the dogs).Seems likely?
