High school teacher Christina Bastian, 34, was last seen in the early morning hours of November 1, 2015 at a friend's home near Apple Valley, California. Her belongings were later found strewn along Highway 247 near Lucerne Valley. Her truck was located, abandoned, on a dirt road. The next day, her maltipoo dog 'Coco' was found by a stranger nearly 70 miles from where the truck was located, but the connection between the two was not made until weeks later.

For Cheryl Denny, any lead into her missing daughter’s whereabouts is worth following — whether it’s to a lonely casino, off-the-beaten-path thrift store, or a way station for the homeless almost two hours away.

Denny’s daughter Christina Bastian, 34, of Apple Valley, has been missing for almost three months...

Late to this case but this is so sad! I feel for this woman. I hope she is found soon. Looks like she had a complete break down. I hope nothing has happened to her and she will get the help she needs.

Christina's doctor approved her stopping the medication. She didn't just choose to stop.

Unfortunately, it appears that some cruel people out there have to cause Christina's family more pain. The ability to hide your identity on Facebook helps these sick people do just that.

15 hours ago, a fake Facebook profile named Esther Job posted on the Help Find Christina Bastian Facebook page. None of the post makes sense - why someone could be so heartless is beyond my imagination!

Interesting. I hope LE sees it and tracks it to the poster somehow. If they know she's missing why haven't they called the number on the posters?

Mother of missing Apple Valley woman clings to hope and prays for closure

On the one-year anniversary of Christina Bastian’s disappearance, her family still clings to the hope that she’s safe and will come home.

Cheryl Denny said her 35-year-old daughter Christina was last seen by family and friends on Halloween night 2015. Denny told the Daily Press she’s “praying for closure” and hopes that a reunion with her oldest daughter will be part of that answer.

“We’re still hoping that Christina comes walking through the doors or that we’ll find where she’s living,” said Denny, pastor of Apple Valley Faith Center on Bear Valley Road. “I just want to know whether she’s on this earth or living in Heaven with Jesus."

With signs posted outside inviting the public to this year’s Harvest Party at the church on Halloween, Denny sat at her desk and explained how the disappearance of her daughter has taken a physical and emotional toll on her and her family.

“My faith in Jesus Christ is the only thing that keeps me together,” Denny said. “I have my moments when my mind just goes blank and I have to ask God to fill in the blanks. I don’t know how people who don’t have Jesus make it.”

Her mother, Cheryl Denny, continues to post in the Facebook page 'Help Find Christina Bastian' and tirelessly searches for her daughter.

Found myself on this thread tonight. So I guess she still hasn't been found. I did see lots of articles that I will look at again to see if there are any recent ones.

I would like to know if they have done a thorough search in the area her truck was located. I can imagine her coming off of her medication, being upset by the break-in, having a manic episode in the middle of the night when she disappeared, driving without thinking where she was going, disposing of precious belongings along the way, including her dog (she is not in a healthy state of mind), and then driving who-knows-where only half aware of what she was doing, if at all aware. Perhaps in that confused state of mind, only half knowing where she was going, she caused damage to her truck. For whatever reason she abandoned it where she did and set off on foot and now no one knows where she is. Some people come off of their medication perfectly. Others not so much. If she was having difficulty dealing with the break-in, it could have exacerbated some of her symptoms. It was also Halloween. I cannot speak for Christina, but I know several adults who get major anxiety at Halloween.

I've debated whether or not someone was involved with Christina's disappearance. I keep coming back to it being a result of her having a mental break. I feel they will either find her in the desert not too far from where her truck was discovered or wandering the area as a transient, maybe not fully aware of who she is. Lots of places in that area have transient populations. I wonder if anyone has tried asking any of them about Christina.

Some important pieces from this article, some not previously pointed out:

"was saving to buy a home while finishing classes towards her master’s degree."

"With the guidance of her physican she stopped taking her medication for the condition this past summer and was doing well until recently."

“The weeks before she disappeared were very stressful for Christina,” Denny said. There was a car accident that totaled her previous vehicle, and the anniversary of her grandmother’s death.

Then on Oct. 29, she believed her apartment was broken into, which was when she began behaving strangely.

“Christina has a friend who lives in Morongo Valley, and I believe she was trying to find her house,” Denny said. “Unfortunately that friend hasn’t heard from her, either.”

Christina Bastian's disappearance reminds me of another missing person, Krystie Stuart: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...A-Krystie-Stuart-29-Apple-Valley-3-March-2015.
They both became missing in the same year (2015) and they were both last seen in the same town (Apple Valley, CA). They were both about 30 years old (29 yo and 34 yo), and other people found their abandoned trucks (although in different locations). Both women appeared to be very "upset" before their disappearance.

Does anyone else feel that these two missing person cases are connected?

Sad to say she may have taken her own life.
