A friend of mine in Kokomo has been posting about this for several days and I was waiting for a mainstream article to come out so I could start my first thread. I asked if she'd been reported missing. My friend said yes, AFASK, the right things had been done.

I felt like the clock was ticking, like, why hasn't Kokomo said anything about this?! The city is not bursting with heavy hitting news that would preclude getting the word out about a missing teenager.

Glad she has a thread here. I'll see if my friend might consider joining us for potential local insight on the city and surroundings.

Her grandmother said her son is in Illinois checking to see if a female body found is that of Karena.

The body was found in the Kankakee River, and police are asking for help in identifying the woman who is believed to be in her late teens or early 20s.

I don't think it fits Karena's description completely as the UID was said to be only 5 feet tall and around 100 lbs. Karena is listed as 5'4" tall and 130 ish lbs. Either way, this is someone's loved one and I hope they can identify her quickly.

I would think if the body was in good enough condition to release the details they did, they would be able to identify or rule her out by her tattoo.

The body found was not Karena:

“The preliminary description matched that of a woman from Indiana, but that missing person had a tattoo, and [the body] does not,” O’Neil said.

Karena McClerkin, 18, of Kokomo, Indiana, was reported missing in October. According to the newspaper there, McClerkin’s family initially believed that the body found in the water could have been hers.
