I know how to find the coordinates, and also found intersections on Portugal Island & Bermuda (much closer), but I can't determine if a vector of 125 degrees ESE intersects with east of AC4 at any significant site. I can't find anything in the Atlantic yet that fits, but I just wondered if you could explain how to do this? Please?

You want to indicate a direction? Are you using google maps engine? I would use the draw a line or shape tool. is that what you meant?

ETA: Re above post. You can use the measuring tool too, to measure any distance in any direction within google maps engine

I am referring this question to two of our great mappers here, Forager and Skibaboo. Sending them a note, hopefully they can take a look. :wave:

Docrocker,

Mags forwarded me a link to this question of yours. Google My Maps doesn't afford a direct way to set vectors based on exact bearings, but it does let you plot lines, and its projection is nicely Cartesian, so you should be able to plots the two straight lines you describe relatively accurately. Use the squiggly line icon to draw the line. (The icon is the one at the top of the straight black line drawn I drew using the tool in the screen shot below).



I'm afraid that you have to eyeball the directions, but a horizontal line will be true east west. You'll have to eyeball your east-southeast line (a plastic protractor laid over your screen should help), but it too would be straight on this map (not curving with the earth as you would have on some other map projections). Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding your question an you need more. I'm not well enough up on the LISK case to identify the Gilgo Beach 4 and AC4 points and plot the lines myself, but I'd be happy to if you posted a map of yours with the points identified. I could then copy it and add the lines (without changing your original) before sending a link to the copy back to you.

GROWING up in Queens, I had an intense interest in astronomy. I was given a telescope and learned the constellations. Older, I moved to the East End of Long Island, along a belt of woodland where the lights of scattered neighbors were far fewer than the stars above. There are two ways that one can watch the show: from the beach or from a boat. Some have asked me if the show can be seen from other surrounding beaches, and the answer is probably yes. However, you will be nowhere near airhsow center (where all the action takes place and the acts are centered around) and you will not hear Mr. Reider's commentary. So for the best viewing experience, stay with Jones Beach itself.
For those with boats, the show can be viewed from Zach's Bay or from the ocean. However, there are restrictions as to where in the ocean the show can be watched. I was able to find these parameters for the 2005 show, and I can only assume that they will be the same for this year. And if they aren't exactly the same, the worst that can happen is the Coast Guard will yell at you and tell you to move. No biggie.
