Officials said 68-year-old Kay Atkins Raines, of Mobile, AL, was last seen Jan. 29 at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi and the Home Depot in Gulfport.

About two dozen people spent the better part of Saturday combing an area around Dog River, within three miles of Raines’ home. They hoped to find some indication or some evidence, just anything that would tell them what happened to their friend...

An MPD spokesman told News 5 via e-mail they are uncertain at this time whether she is in danger or if foul play was involved.

I used to live in the Mobile area and am familiar with the Mississippi casinos. I wonder if Ms. Raines won a big jackpot and someone was watching and followed her? But there is so much we don't know: how did she get to Biloxi? where is her vehicle? did she go to the Beau Rivage first or to the Home Depot first? why do her friends think that she went back to her home in Mobile (they are searching around Dog River which is in Mobile)? no information on credit/debit card usage? This is strange and troubling.

I spoke to a casino host at one of the Biloxi casinos who stated that Ms. Raines' belongings were found in her hotel room at the Beau Rivage after she was reported missing. Not verified. Just sounds like someone grabbed her at the casino. But I'm still puzzled as to why her friends are searching close to her Mobile, AL home.

I just don't think she was grabbed from the casino. There are so many cameras and security at the casinos, especially the Beau Rivage. I go there every few weeks from Pensacola. Its very upscale. I am very curious as to why friends were looking around a River in Mobile, if her belongings were found in Biloxi, about 45 minutes away. I can't find much information on her at all.

WKRG 5 in Mobile had an update on her at noon according to the alert on my iPhone, but when I was too late in tuning in and missed it. Maybe again at 5:00. And they have not posted an update to their website or to Facebook.

Raines was staying at Beau Rivage Resort & Casino before she went to work that day, Biloxi Lt. Christopher De Back said.

A co-worker who contacted the Sun Herald wanted to make sure police were still looking for Raines, described as a “private person” who was nonetheless friendly and cared about her job. Raines did not strike the co-worker as the type of person who would just “take off.”

Stanley Ladnier of Mobile said information indicates Raines returned to Mobile after she left work at Home Depot on the afternoon of Jan. 29, the last time anyone reports seeing her. He said he could not elaborate.

She was last seen on Sunday, January 29. She was spotted at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi and the Home Depot in Gulfport. She worked at the Home Depot and was on surveillance at both locations.

Investigators believe she left Mississippi heading towards Mobile and hasn’t been seen since.

Son Of Missing Woman Questioned By Police After Body Found In Baldwin County

A high-ranking official within the Mobile Police department confirms that investigators are questioning
Clark Raines, the son of Kay Raines.
Kay Raines went missing in January. She was last seen on Jan. 28 in Biloxi.
The body found Monday in Baldwin County has not been positively identified as Kay Raines,
but the clothing does match what she was wearing last.
Investigators from Mobile and Baldwin Counties are working together on an ongoing investigation.
