Curious, was an actual time ever reported for when family, or whoever it was, arrived to pick the girls up? I read the girls were reported missing at around 5:30 pm and I thought I read they were suppose to be picked up around 3 - 3:30 pm, but when I search to see if the actual time their ride got their was reported all I keep finding is the time when they went missing or just comments about them not being there at the time/location when they were suppose to be.

jmo

Yes, I remember reading that they were supposed to be picked up at 3:30, also. But I don't know where.

Honestly we don't even know if the girls were accosted on the bridge do we? Could they have walked back to the pickup spot and been abducted there? Taken somewhere else and dumped back behind the cemetery? It doesn't seem likely, just crossed my mind.

You know, that actually sounds quite plausible IMO, at least on first consideration.

As a rule a try to find papers or news stations in the town/city where the crime happened. I do not trust out of country souces as they just pull info from articles that they read and yes then add to sensationalize on the crime.

ok it's time for mods and admins to do something about this site. From wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News.com.au

News.com.au is a fake Australian news and entertainment website owned by News Corp Australia. It specialises in human interest stories as well as reproducing content from Buzzfeed and Reddit, spelling and grammatical errors, publishing fake news, promoting social division and pushing political agendas.[1]

Wow, I'm kind of surprised that wiki doesn't get sued for defamation! (Not that I don't agree with what they say!)

I believe that this Wikipedia entry on news.com.au is a victim of article vandalism. However... News.com.au is owned by Murdoch's Newscorp; It is frequently host to sensationalist / click-bait / fear-mongering article headlines. e.g. On more than one occasion, they have reported videos from the Youtube channel Secureteam10 as actual reportable news.

That's my digression out of the way!

thank you for this, I just checked with a friend in Australia who agrees with you that this particular wikipedia article is incorrect, and that the website is generally known for real and quality news. However, some articles are submitted by freelance journalists and may have less quality to their sources and "facts" and they do encourage readers to report those articles to their parent company so they can evaluate their continuing to buy articles from those particular freelance writers.

I apologize for any incorrect information I may have posted this morning regarding that website being fake news, and I would suggest that people who find the article to contain blatant untruths should contact them and alert them to that as detailed in their "about" section.

thanks for alerting me to this in a factual and civil manner! :)

I remember days gone by when mods told posters not to act like mods

Hey Rocket, you would be a good one to ask: I have lurked here off and on for years for various cases, not all the time. In my memory the first time I ever came here and lurked about was during the disappearance of Laci Peterson. Could that be right?

Saw an electronic billboard today in Roanoke, VA Unfortunately, it flashed back to a regular advertisement way too quickly. No one would be able to study the photo very much.
I travel through a heavy traffic area every day in Indiana, 69 S to 465 South down to South Indianapolis from NE Indy. No billboards seen.

well - americans don't mind posting or quoting from their own sources on aussie cases. this is getting ridiculous. It feels like anyone outside of America can't cast aspersions or try to look at stuff from a different angle...is that what has happened here at websleuths? that you can only talk about cases from your own country and not add anything new to the mix as you are an outsider?

I'm an American and I can't cast aspersions on this site either.

Hope this makes you feel better. :)

Please don't take it personal. I believe people in the US are much more sensitive these days to what is real news and what is "fake" news since we have been bombarded with articles and reports of "fake" news since the elections and afterwards. Instead of casting blame we all need to have personal responsibility in this matter and make intelligent decisions in what we are reading and the source it is coming from. Personally, i enjoy reading other countries takes on situations.

Huh? How would I know when you first came here?

Not what i said. If i were on a thread that was about a victim in Australia i would be google searching for papers or tv stations from there and not from other countries news, because that to me is second hand information and when it becomes blurred, or words added or left out. Jmo

It's gonna be a late one for me tonight but that's nothing new. I'm really looking fwd to Tricias radio show! Ask and thou shalt receive :)

...Also, IMO, if I were the family members of two girls who were very best friends who died together, I would want the date of death to be the same if I were given the choice. It would be a poignant tribute. So I would find them choosing different days odd unless they know it to be true. But that is just me.

If the families had talked before publishing the obits they probably would have chosen identical dates for that very reason. But each family just found out their child was murdered, and even though the families shared this common tragedy I doubt discussing and coordinating which date to put in the obit was on their minds at the time. Think about it. Each family was probably individually consumed with shock, grief, and the monumental task of making arrangements.

ya know...just embrace that we can all share information and what is being said in different countries....and that the attention in the media is still on these girls!

I wonder, if the 3:49 time is, in fact, correct, could this woman have heard the girl's relative calling for Abby and Libby??

Interesting thought. IIRC, the time is from a photo the woman posted so it should be very accurate.

I have wondered why the girls didn't call 911?

It seems like Libby started the video of the perp on the bridge when he was very far away (based on the poor quality of the photo of BG which was taken from the video); then it seems that LE have audio recording, also from Libby's phone, but LE are not able to confirm that the voice on the phone belongs to the man in the video. The audio also has the background noise, presumably of walking, as if the phone is in Libby's pocket, or bag. So from that I am gathering that the video was started, but then Libby put her phone into her pocket or bag, before the perp could know she was recording everything. By the time they were face to face with the perp, 'political correctness' probably set in, and she couldn't grab her phone and dial 911 without him seeing her doing it, and at that time, she probably wasn't sure that 911 needed to be called. By the time she knew, it was probably too late. And she couldn't make that 911 call with the phone in her pocket or bag, without looking at it. It is terrifying to even think about what Libby must have been thinking/feeling at the time she felt the need to record. Hero indeed, but yet so disappointing that to date, LE has not been able to determine the killer, even with all the evidence Libby was able to secure for them. moo.

As an Australian I can provide another insight. News.com.au is the main website for a collection of nationwide newspapers. All are Murdoch owned papers. He has a monopoly on news in our country which is problematic at best. The local news on the site is reasonably correct, when they are reporting actual events. The opinion sections and editors are very right leaning and one sided tripe(imo)

The articles about Libby and Abby here have been hastily thrown together regurgitated murder *advertiser censored* in my opinion. While they do contain certain facts, the site uses sensationalism to get readers. For more balanced Australian news, head to abc.net.au
So in short, real site, pretty awful reporting.
Hope that helps a little.

The down under equivalent I think. Bolt= Hannity lol.
