GUILTY MO - Monica Sykes, 25, Berkeley, 27 Oct 2016 *Arrest*

It always depends on the perp and their area of awareness - a person may have ties to the area she is eventually found, or be the the of person to just pick a direction to drive in as far as they feel they have time for, find a secluded spot, dump, and go.

I am really surprised there has been no updates on the first body thought to be her. Whatever the case, I hope her mother can get closure soon.

Though shocking, Regina says, that isn't the only way the system has made everything much worse. You go to the police, because you think they know what to do and how to handle it, but they don't.
Regina and her family met with the Berkeley mayor last month. Regina learned the lead detective on her daughter's case had been being removed.
She feels the mayor was much more concerned with the city's image. She recorded the meeting with him.
“Low and behold here comes a team from out of town and made us look bad. They found skulls, remains. and that's why we removed [the detective,]” said Mayor Theodore Hoskins.
“He kept going back to how the City of Berkeley would look,” Regina said.

Remains found in Kinloch confirmed to be those of missing Berkeley woman
By Kim Bell - St. Louis Post-Dispatch
March 30, 2017

Snipped:

Jackson told the Post-Dispatch earlier this month that if the remains proved to be those of Sykes, police would likely seek charges against a man already in custody.

But on Thursday Jackson declined to talk about a suspect. "I'm going to leave that up to prosecutors," he said.

A spokesperson for the prosecutor's office could not immediately provide an update on potential charges Thursday morning.

From your link...

Sykes was last seen in the 6300 block of Fay Drive in Berkeley on October 28 around 7:00 a.m. leaving her home and getting into a white van, police say.

I'm at a loss. I thought it was a white car?

I'm so sorry to the family. I know they were posting on here before. I'm glad you at least can put your daughter to rest and this monster can get locked up for life. What a horrible thing to go through.
