Pretty much one of the dumbest things from that link, like really did he have no idea "a counter-culture subset of residents" isn't exactly what he'd find at the commune. If this wasn't a tragic thing involving a teenager I'd lol...

"Prior to coming to the commune, Cummins and Elizabeth allegedly spent time in Berkeley, California, about 340 miles south of Cecilville. But according to Lopey, they were surrounded there by “a counter-culture subset of residents and transient people,” and these people made Cummins uncomfortable.

“They scared him,” Lopey says. “Some of the things they were doing scared him and they decided to leave, and then they heard about the commune and thought, ‘Gee, why don’t we go there?’ ”

This makes as much sense as kayaking to Mexico, IMHO.

I estimated an average of $75 and allowed for several days of camping.

According to my precise calculations  he really blew through that $4500. Either they spent a bunch of money on lodging, or they didn't eat at Chez McDonalds very often.

He had 5 weeks to plan but could not stretch a dollar.

He's lazy too. Hell, Jodi traveled 2,834 miles in 5 days and spent less than $400 iirc

Me too. I can only imagine how many relatives, church friends, politicians and colleagues from school will be traipsing down there to pray with him and load his jail account. Poor guy must've just had a mid-life crisis. Let's not be too hard on im'. He's a good ol' boy and a Christian to boot. We all know how those teen girls can get! He didn't HURT her after all, like we could've predicted. #Sheila Butt. I mean we know he did wrong but 10 years is absolutely ridiculous. She WANTED to go with him!

Sorry for the extreme sarcasm. I am NOT a fan of Maury County.

. He bought a small boat to sail from San Diego. http://abc7news.com/news/teacher-accused-of-kidnapping-student-in-court/1911575/

That could add a chunck fo change. So he went from Guymon, OK to San Diego, then most likely headed north through California ($$$), ending almost broke in Berkeley before ending up near BBR.

Cummins appeared at an arraignment in Sacramento, walked into court wearing an orange prison jumpsuit that said "Sac Co prisoner" and he was shackled with a chain around his waist.

He didn't say a word aloud and listened intently to Magistrate Judge Kendall Newman.

Cummins turned his head toward the prosecutor, who argued he was a danger and a flight risk. The US attorney said two guns were found in Cummins' vehicle.

Benjamin Galloway was appointed as his public defender in California. Galloway said his client was not a dangerous flight risk because the allegations against him do not include threats or coercion and that this is "not an abduction or kidnapping."

Galloway said his client looks forward to going to Tennessee as soon as possible to fight the charges against him.

I'm guessing you don't think too clearly when you've only been eating flowers.

Yeah I'm wondering about this. If I recall this came from ET.

There are edible flowers and one can even get them at the grocery store now days. I'm thinking perhaps in Berkley or the ranch someone made them a salad or food with edible flowers which isn't out of the realm of possibility for a "hippy" type, heck I'm old and I've eaten flowers, and this must have stuck out as weird to her since she is only 15? idk

I don't imaging them foraging in the woods for flowers to eat for some reason. I feel it was just something odd to her maybe?

Seems to me that if the reports of going through 8 states are true, they might well have gone through San Diego. Take a look at the US. If you figure that they were - as documented - in TN and AL and travelled through OK - there is only one way to make it to CA without going through nine states. And that is to cross into CA directly from AZ. So if the report is accurate, they took a very southern route.

JMHO, so please, be magnanimous. Intolerance does not help analyzing societal issues. A) Are public defenders “more” negligent when the defendant is male? B) Are sexual impropriety more harshly vilified when the perpetrator is male? C) Does the ethnicity of the victim in American cases of sexual crimes matter? Tad Cummins is an offender. Let us crucify him! While doing that, could we also analyze what is going on in our American society?
“Benjamin Galloway is the Federal Public Defender assigned to the case. He argued that Cummins has no history of violence, threats, or coercion and that the 15-year-old "left of her own free will."
http://www.capradio.org/articles/20...amento-for-kidnapping-of-15-year-old-student/
Benjamin David Galloway - #214897, Esq. is an attorney with zero record of disciplinary action at the Office of Federal Defenders in Sacramento, CA 95814. Was Benjamin Galloway present when Mr. Tad Cummins incriminated himself as alleged in the federal affidavit? Why did he, if applicable, let Tad Cummins speak at all? Is the question of Tad Cummins’ gender at play here? Mr. Tad Cummins with ET is a male perpetrator case. For a female perpetrator, there was the case of Letourneau. “Mary Kay Fualaau (née Schmitz, formerly Mary Kay Letourneau; born January 30, 1962) is an American former schoolteacher who pleaded guilty to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child, her 12-year-old student, Vili Fualaau. Her plea agreement called for six months in jail, with three months suspended, and no contact with Fualaau for life.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Kay_Letourneau Why is it that Mr. Tad Cummins is vilified so much as a monster? While Ms. Letourneau initially got away with 6 months in jail with 3 months suspended? Could the gender of the perpetrator explains the gap?
Another question is about ethnicity. Does our American society punishes the perpetrator more severely when the victim is a Caucasian female? The child Vili Fualaau was a 12 year old child when he was victimized by Ms. Letourneau.
JMHO, open mind about societal phenomenon helps us comprehend why these disgusting events happened and what could be done to prevent them. IMO, we are educated adults discussing societal issues in America. Don’t be offended with questions. Just slide and ride away if you disagree.

Shouldn't he be heading south to SD if he was going to take his small sail boat across the border to Mexico instead North to Berkeley?

Unless one excludes TN the home and starting point. Am I counting that right?

AL, MS, AR, OK, CO, UT, NV, CA

One of the news items had a picture of the Rogue and it was still silver, but had no license plates. I'm wondering what he altered?

Maybe something simple as magnets? My husband is a graphic designer and makes SO many magnets for people. Stripes, shapes, advertisements, etc. Probably doubtful, but just a thought.

Jodi Arias turned hers upside down. [emoji33]

What did he pay for the boat and where is it now?

I dunno, that's the first confirmed MSM report of it that I've seen.

I also said it before, prior to his arrest, I think he might have blown money at a few out of the way casinos.

I can't believe he, according to this report, drove north from San Diego ending in Berkeley. He must've been traveling at night on major roads?
