Thank you! I love the person who wrote this. Read more of the piece at the link below.

"OK, first of all, Thomas wasn’t lost. She didn’t wander away or take a wrong turn. She was stolen. But look at all of Butt’s wishy-washy language — ”lost,” “what happened here.” Like this is just some kind of accident that befell Thomas because she wasn’t being careful, instead of something Cummins did to her.

And then, this “I’m not surprised she’s safe.” A kidnapper who may have sexual designs for you takes you to the edge of the continent, and that’s “safe”? Why? Because he didn’t murder her? And my God, how low is the bar for “good man” that you can allegedly kidnap a girl, and as long as you don’t kill her, your state representative will still say nice things about you?"

I haven't been able to keep up today but I wanted to suggest...

My guess is, IF he actually "procured a small watercraft" and took it for a test run, as stated in the legal docs, he did that before he discovered the Mexican alert. Since we all know now, he was in fact monitoring the news coverage via a "device" (disposable phone) we know he probably saw that Mexican alert and thought "nope, change of plans - we're headed north". So then on the way, somewhere in Berkley, heard/read about the commune up north and that became plan B.

From all I've read today, that makes the most sense to me. I do wonder though, if ET even knew he had a phone the whole time. I'm guessing she didn't.

I agree with you. You can't believe what you read or hear in the news; these reporters write the story and correct the inaccuracies later. "Procured a small watercraft" turns into "bought a boat". Burner phone turns into "device".

How delusional do you have to be to imagine that you can sail (paddle?) from San Diego, (population 1,394,928, metro 3,095,313), to Tijuana, (population 1,696,923, metro 1,895,797) without being noticed???

(Note: Subtract the cost of the phone and the minutes from available spending)

I dunno, that's the first confirmed MSM report of it that I've seen.

I also said it before, prior to his arrest, I think he might have blown money at a few out of the way casinos.

I can't believe he, according to this report, drove north from San Diego ending in Berkeley. He must've been traveling at night on major roads?

There is also immigration check points between San Diego and LA. Not that them being white wouldn't easily get them through the checkpoints, but their license plate number would likely be scanned. I think something is wrong with the boat and San Diego part of the story. I think we will have to wait to get more details, before we know what that was all about.

Between San Diego and LA? Really?

One of my children went to college in Santa Barbara, we often went between several major cities depending on where we flew in and never went through a check point.

This was 7ish years ago though.

Me too. I can only imagine how many relatives, church friends, politicians and colleagues from school will be traipsing down there to pray with him and load his jail account. Poor guy must've just had a mid-life crisis. Let's not be too hard on im'. He's a good ol' boy and a Christian to boot. We all know how those teen girls can get! He didn't HURT her after all, like we could've predicted. #Sheila Butt. I mean we know he did wrong but 10 years is absolutely ridiculous. She WANTED to go with him!

Sorry for the extreme sarcasm. I am NOT a fan of Maury County.

No apologies necessary! Couldn't agree more with you!!

This says he gave a post-arrest confession. I wonder if the confession was for trying to evade LE and/or having inappropriate relations with a minor?

Some of it IMO to groom his captors, thanking them for their professionalism. This guy doesn't stop, he gets off trying to manipulate people.
MOO

as usual i'm late to the game but does anyone here seriously believe (IMO despite anything the feds, prosecution nor family members state) he arrived at a northern california commune penniless with a legitimate plan to procure a "watercraft" in san diego taking route to mexico?

this, JMO, is beyond laughable...he didn't have a pot to piss in, literally...as referenced by the roll of toilet paper in their, ahem, cabin...

IMO said reference to southern california to mexico is simply a story. a fabrication like many others...

If he spent $500 on gas, that leaves him with ~$4000. Divided by the number of days (39) that they were gone, he spent $102.56 per day on food, lodging, and other expenses.

How much does it cost per night to stay in the Super 8 in OK?

He ran out of money long before he was captured, though. The guy from the cabins said he gave Cummins $40 to help them get up to the commune because he was broke. For planning this whole thing, he sure sucked at budgeting his funds.

While I agree with you...LE according to news reports is that he "procured a boat" and "did a test run".

Now is this him lying or is this him being stupid who knows. I'm sure we will find out more, he could have gone from OK to San Diego then up north as they were missing for 39 days and we only know where they were 3 days after missing (OK) and then the last two weeks when they were found Northern CA.

Regardless I agree his "plans" were laughable!

Seems to me that if the reports of going through 8 states are true, they might well have gone through San Diego. Take a look at the US. If you figure that they were - as documented - in TN and AL and travelled through OK - there is only one way to make it to CA without going through nine states. And that is to cross into CA directly from AZ. So if the report is accurate, they took a very southern route.

I got the AA in MS on 3/15, so maybe they came through here?

So the CA lawyer said TC is anxious to get back to TN?
No the CA lawyer is anxious for TC to get out of CA because he has a depo and a spa date later.
Holding the door open and saying "bah bah now"

thanks johunt...totally agree.

but at this point i don't believe the reports...that is the most DUMB excuse for a fugitive path i've ever heard. "gee let's hide out in a commune begging for money but i'm going to tell LE i had a plan to buy a boat and sail/motor to mexico"...OMG, in all the crazy cases we've heard over the years? really?

for all the back-and-forth discussion over TC's sister's interview, i agreed with those who said hey, she was just reiterating what she heard. unless i hear it from the horse's (*advertiser censored*) mouth, on video, i could care less about heresay. I just don't believe this jackass ever had the wherewithal nor means to make it to san diego nor afford a friggin canoe to mexico. IMO this was just another pipe dream that he formed into "reality" for his family to believe he was truly trying to "save" ET.

JMO not even worth a debate. if LE or FBI really believe this was his "plan", flat broke, amber alert in effect, no outside means of communication nor financial means...well, hmm...i don't have much confidence in the trial. but i don't believe LE is stupid enough to believe it. Thoughts?

I've passed a check point going north out of San Diego. You pretty much drive through. I've also seen people (presumably illegal immigrants) leap out of vans and sprint off the freeway to avoid going through the checkpoint.

I think we have to bear in mind that TC may be the only source of this information and he is a known liar.
:liar:

The part about him arriving at a northern California cabin, penniless, is true. The "watercraft" I will believe only when a) I see it or b) a credible eye witness states that he sold/rented it to him.

IMHO
