I can relate to her angst. I’m one of a few holdouts in our small neighborhood gradually bought and transformed by a church starting about a decade ago. First they built a huge sanctuary, then a high school, then a preschool, then a football stadium, then a baseball field, now a field house is under construction. They own about 90% of the city block.

Perhaps some of her photos provide clues about what happened to Mary. She would have known her house was in foreclosure.

Written words on back of photo:
Sell Sell Sell – the white house occupant is a holdout like me – the building company make very poor offers to us – but I bet we both wished we had moved – Bulldozer + backhoes everywhere! Sometimes all the cats can hide from me.

Mary Cerruti poses with a tribute she created for her parents as part of the annual Day of the Dead celebration at Casa Ramirez, a store where she occasionally worked. The store owners estimate the photo was taken around 2010. The basket contains images of her parents, a wood folk art skeleton, marigolds and small candles.

in my opinion the workers that told police she was deceased were the ones that Knew she was really deceased.. those are the ones that should of been investigated.. Its sad that everything in her house was thrown out. so there was no way to search for any clues.. Also I read she had 8 cats. But there is no mention anywhere of what happened to her 8 cats

Police entered her home this summer after receiving calls regarding the residence. Officers did not report finding Mary in the home at that time.
Nearby work crews have told residents that Mary is deceased and that they saw her body removed from the property. So far, both police and private investigators have been unable to substantiate this claim with any public or police records, so neighbors remain hopeful that Mary will be found alive and well.

In the article it stated that glasses she wore were found near skeleton.

In the photos, felines blend in everywhere. A tabby sprawls on a wicker table. A kitten snuggles in a shoe box. Five curl between the items on her desk. Little Spot, Sweetie, Slim.

Mr. Buddy, a big gray cat, was "everybody's pal," she wrote - especially when it came to the rescued kittens. "Nothing is cuter than a Siamese kitten," she scrawled.

But they also got into trouble, biting the phone line ("the dead phone problem"), destroying panties and shoes ("all are fair game") and pouncing on each other after eating wet cat food ("like a shot of adrenaline").

"Eight cats is way too many cats," Cerruti wrote.

Later, when Cerruti went missing, six were reported dead.

Is a home inspection required before taking ownership or just suggested or is it different by state?

They are, but you'd be surprised by what is often missed during a home inspection.

This is extremely sad
It just makes me feel sad for Mary and her cats

This article doesn't specify how many, but the poor cats she had did not make it.

Lidell lived across the street in 2015 when firefighters went inside Cerruti’s house and found a bunch of dead cats.
“When the fire trucks were there, they said the smell was so bad in the house,” Lidell remembered. “They figured it was from the cats, because God knows how long they had been in there without food or water.”

Oh I hate reading about her fur babies.

I wonder what happened to her car?

This articles also says renters vs home owners. I thought the couple moving in had bought the house. I did read this a while back and may have remembered wrong.

I know, poor things. 😫 I had to stop going through all of her old pictures her neighbor provided (Mostly of the kitties) in the article someone posted earlier, too heartbreaking knowing that was their fate.

Omg that is horrible! This really breaks my heart! I guess with the smell of all her dead cats it masked the smell of Mary... This is really heart breaking her cats starved to death. When was she reported missing? Didn't any neighbor or friends think about getting her cats? Or was she reported missing after they found the dead cats. This case really disturbs me. Was there any sign of a break in?
