Found Deceased UT - Paul Swenson, 30, American Fork, 27 July 2017

So I assume LE pulled the video footage from the O'Reilly's and surrounding businesses to see if he went in there?

Or to see if he drove the car to/away from there?
Or to see if he was alone?
Or to see if the car was stolen or he was robbed?

I assume if he had been confirmed to be AT the O'Reilly's they would know that.
It sounds like they are just giving a landmark along with intersections.
So people can orient themselves to where his phone last pinged.

Unless of course something that they saw ON the video footage is the reason they are still pushing to find him.
I'm still sticking with my theory of some sort of mental break, Schizophrenia, psychotic break.... something.
There is a small chance that he just wanted to leave his life behind, sure. Just seems more uncontrolled to me I guess.

I don't know how big this has blown up in MSM but I was just led to this case and his FB missing page from a tweet out of Senator Hatch's twitter account. I would imagine it takes quite a bit of effort to get a Senator to tweet about a missing person.

In my 15-20 min glance, I think he needed a life break and split. Hope his family gets answers.

It's more the continued MSM coverage that is unusual.
Missing adults just don't generally get that. Especially not missing men.
I do think the family has some connections, and/or there is a big piece of information we aren't being told.

Now I have a theory i could be way off. I read on the find me page that he like to go to a town in Nevada to relax. What if he had a gambling problem and owed some money? Or was embarrassed because he lost so much? I know he is a mormon and family seems very religious.. jmo

Was it wendover? That's the closest place to go gamble.

Edit: like the place is notorious for it. There are "party buses" that make a business out of driving drunks to and from casinos in wendover from SLC.

Yes! Thats it. They might have even said the family had a cabin there.

If my husband wants to go to Wendover to relax, I see it as similar to Las Vegas.
He wants to go drink and gamble. (He's really good at Blackjack.)
Generally I go with him anyway, but that is what going to Wendover to relax means in our family.

Something seems off to me about this case and I can't pinpoint it.

Curiouser & curiouser. I truly hope he's ok. Beginning to seem like a major lifestyle change for him. Hope I'm wrong & he comes home safe & sound.

There are so many unusual holes in this story. I also believe the family knows A LOT more than they are sharing. I'm hoping this is for Pauls benefit of getting home and not something else.

I find it very uncomfortable to watch any of his family/close friends in videos/interviews. Does anyone else? They are always full of smiles and very upbeat. If someone in my family was missing, I'd be devastated and could barely talk. I would have no motivation to get dolled up either. I'm very confused by their behavior.

They all seem to talk as if he will be back and maybe that's why they aren't "devastated", another reason to assume they know a lot more as well. But then I can't figure out why they are saying the things found in his car weren't his. That indicates there is more going on than him just walking away.

I read the father made a point to share that Paul took his wives car that day, not his. I don't understand the importance of this but I assume it is important since the father made a point to mention it.

Are these "sitings" of him around town really him? Is that why the family is okay? But why would he stick around town? You'd think he'd get out of town for a break. Also... if all these people are "seeing" him, why don't they get a pic of him, watch him, follow him in secret? I wouldn't just let him get away.

There has to be so much video surveillance they can pull up on his route that day to see who he was with, what he did. There has to be DNA on the items found in his car. They also need to pull his phone records to see who is may have called and texted with that day.

Does anyone know what kind of appt he was supposed to be going to that day? Why is it such a secret?

I could keep going. This is all disturbing on many levels.

Perhaps the items found in the car were not HIS or his wife's but women's clothing they did not recognize or another man's...just an idea.

If he wanted to get away he's got to be so embarrassed by now that he doesn't know what to do.

How come we aren't allowed to share opinions? Couldn't it be helpful in finding him.

I believe, you can 'share' something and state it as 'your opinion', 'MOO, my opinion only, IMHO, in my honest opinion, etc. You get the idea.
You can't 'share' that you read it on FB or Twitter or Reddit.
You can share his missing FB page and tell us to 'read comment at x time on x date'.

MOO, Mods hopefully will correct me if this is mis-information.

I just want to say here,

I have a sister in law who is Mormon, her husband is high up in the Church in their community. They are both very positive bubbly people. Even with some of the
major medical challenges my sister in law is dealing with, she still remains positive and bubbly.
If she had to appear on camera or MSM for something like this, many would not understand why she is being so bubbly and positive, it is simply who she is, if you can stay positive, the darkness won't enter.

MOO

How come we aren't allowed to share opinions? Couldn't it be helpful in finding him.

Opinions are allowed as long as they are victim friendly. And remember Paul AND his family are considered victims. You can't say anything that slanders them here. We also are not allowed to sleuth the victim's family members or discuss their social media posts (including blogs).

I agree there would be DNA on the items found in the car (like the bottle of alcohol) but I don't get the impression that the police are doing a serious enough investigation to be running DNA, etc.

I do understand this and I also know everyone reacts differently but.. regardless, it's still strange to me. Not everyone can be upbeat always in a devastating situation. Maybe some but not everyone.

Am I crazy or is this PS's Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/paul.swenson.9237

Edit: done sleuthing for the day. I have another exam and I'm becoming increasingly less convinced there's something actually wrong. I'll keep you guys updated if anything wild happens locally (highly doubtful).
