Detectives are now looking at them in relation to the murder of a teenage girl three decades ago in Shelton.

Seventeen-year-old Tracy West disappeared while on her way to work at a Taylor Towne restaurant south of Shelton on Oct. 20, 1988.

i have a sickening thought  what if these perverted monsters did what john wayne gacy did and buried some of their victims under the hoyse in the basement. :tears:

Cannot seem to find a thread for Tracy, but this is a 2016 link about her murder. LE must be pretty excited about the possibility of a connection to the brothers.

Mason County detectives have never given up the search to find her killer and now they’re hoping you can help them crack the case.

Tracy’s motorcycle was turned upside down. Police believed it was staged to look like a crash. Her helmet was found with marks on the side, and her glasses were also discovered nearby. But Tracy was nowhere to be found. “It wasn’t until October 17[SUP]th[/SUP], 1994 that a hunter, hunting across the woods came across a skull, brought it into the sheriff’s office and just down the ridge from where he found her, they found a bunch of personal items, matched personal effects that we were told Tracy had with her when she disappeared,” Detective Rhoades explains. It was almost six years to the day that Tracy’s remains were discovered in a wooded area a few miles away. And for the past two decades, police have been trying to figure out how she got there. “That’s the million dollar question. If we answer that question, I think we get a lot closer,” Rhoades says. Police believes she was abducted on this trail, but because it was a busy area, that brings challenges to the investigation. Rhoades explains, “It’s not uncommon at all to be driving any of these roads and encounter vehicles at some point on them; brush pickers, mushroom pickers, or it could have been somebody back here if this was a targeted incident.”

When I first heard about these brothers, my first thought was about that missing girl from about 10 years ago.

Reading some of the comments on MSM (I know, I shouldn't) makes me feel heartsick. I don't know all the clinical language but I do know that in certain situations, family members who were SA by other family members at a young age, tend to put it away in some "that happened a long time ago" place and forget about it - as best they can. For many, it's not until they're adults that they remember and/or realize just how awful it was. It would appear in this case, the niece realized she likely wasn't the only one, and the severity of potential victims is unthinkable.

I fully commend her for going to LE when she did. It couldn't have been easy.

I wonder if maybe the victims were all told, and believed, that it was their fault they were being sexually abused. I think a lot of kids would be so ashamed and never say anything, so maybe that is why the one family member seemed surprised, or why another was willing to send her own daughter. How freaking sad all around. :(

I hope detectives go back and search the land where Tracy's remains were found. If they killed her, maybe they thought that was a good hiding place and brought other victims there too over the years.

I also agree with y'all that we'll discover a long history of abuse by these brothers. I can't help but think of John Wayne Gacy. I also saw a program (maybe on ID? I don't remember) about a girl in Tacoma who went missing in 1961 that may have been linked to Ted Bundy - when he was... 14?!

have to wonder where these brothers were when that happened. perhaps one of them had something to do with this instead of Bundy.

I think her name was Ann Marie Burr.

I agree. I'm sure forgetting, minimizing and normalizing the SA is a survival mechanism. I can't even imagine how the niece felt when she realized the magnitude of the damage these uncles have done to other children. She showed tremendous courage calling 911. I hope she, her mother and daughter are getting help to process this horror story.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, your fine assessment again stresses the importance of treating SA cases with the impact on the victim in mind. What I mean is that it sometimes takes years for a victim to to understand what happened to him/her wasn't their fault, that it was wrong and in fact was against the law.

To put a time limit on bringing charges may allow perpetrators to continue abusing while victims are struggling to understand what happened to them and may not yet be ready to speak to LE. These brothers skated under the law at least once before - that should never, ever happen!

I think we are going to need a road map to get through this case with all these houses, possible victims and some way to sort out the names and aliases.

Here are a few bits and pieces.

The fourth brother Donald (Don) Emery who was the owner of one of the houses died last year at age 85.
It sounds like he was just as involved as his three brothers.

Donald is the only one of the four brothers who married, although it ended in divorce. None of the brothers had children.

There is no telling how much money they had coming in along with social security.

Charles Emery received a monthly pension of $3,100 from Boeing and has an estimated $250,000 in the bank, the petition says. He also stands to inherit one-fifth of his deceased brother’s estate, which has an estimated value of $200,000 to $750,000, it says.

These two Dailymail links carry some of the same material but there is additional info in both.

I show 2 possible marriages for Donald. In 1970 to SLE and in 1987 to YSB. In 1991 he was the respondent to a petition for "support" in family court in King County. So he has a child? Or could it be for spousal support?

The Shelton, WA property is located at 2111 E State Route 3 (WA-3) according to Mason County Assessor.

Good find. The 1991 case was filed "PET FOR SUPPORT UNDER URESA/UIFSA" Doing some digging, this means whoever filed the petition lives out of state and it *could* be for child support but it could also be for a court order for spousal support. My guess is, it was for spousal support for YSB.

And according to the "treasurer" link for both properties in his name, there are unpaid taxes due for both, for 2017. Not sure if that means anything, just something I noticed digging around the page.

Investigators say the brothers visited the Mason County property often. Search crews could be seen Saturday night unloading a large backhoe onto the property's backyard.
Officials haven't said yet if anything has been found.
From the ground, all that appears to be on the land is an old, run-down house and thick woods. From the air, however, it's possible to see other buildings and several cars on the property.

This is horrendous. They were all born in the early and mid 1930's, so the sexual abuse probably started in the 1940's. Their oldest victims could be 70 and the youngest?

Here are more details. Read at your own risk. One victim is quoted in the first article. It's quite possible there were murders IMO.

I'm just hearing about these 3 .

WTH on the penny loafers? What known missing girls were known to wear penny loafers?

Sometimes there are no words.

I believe the girls were provided with the penny loafers by the brother(s) for photos. I'm not sure why though.
