I wonder if the TBI guy is there as a 'just in case' there's a verdict. Just like many of us may believe Fridays are great verdict days. I dunno-- I don't trust anything from the TBI after this case.

:seeya:

BBM: Yep ... it's Friday ... it's football season ... it's fall ...

 And you know the :judge: is hoping they come back with a verdict today so he does not have to come up with some "entertainment" for the jury for the weekend ...

I love that they asked for a whiteboard. That's an excellent tool to organize.

I wonder what this means. Could Zack be making a last minute deal?

hoping the the jury will be offered counseling if needed after they are done with their duties. I can only imagine the horrific nightmares after sitting on this jury. Justice for Holly and her family!

Not sure what ZA wanted but what baffles me is ZA told this to KB in July 2011. I am certain Karan would have told this key info to Discus who probably just patted her on the head and said, "There, there Miss Karen...leave this to the big boys...Have you ever heard of Terry Britt??" I mean the dude identified by name the person that took HB! What else was said? I thought for sure the prosecutor would have probed that point a little further. "ZA told you what?? How did you respond? What did you do KB with this info?"

Ah okay TBI director has been there since lunch.
Also knowing the question does not give us any such insight considering we've been down this road before as experienced trial watchers, and what questions or evidence a jury asked for or be clarified can go either way.
Appears they are working it out with the white board. Usually used to write down comparison or lay out stuff. I was on a jury and we used one too, to map out the time line to make it clearer for some on the jury.

BBM: Naw ... what would happen is the Prosecutors would be running to :judge: chambers ...

Sounds like it might have had something to do with the different charges, maybe

I wonder what question would not be appropriate for the judge to answer because it would be commenting on evidence? Strange.

Hi SteveS,

I agree - there was no logic to Zach stating "That was Shayne".

Zach could have blurted it out, not realizing that by incriminating SA, Zach was incriminating himself.

I believe it was because "Miss Karen" asked him this question. Zach was, after all, answering to Miss Karen who was his fourth grade teacher. Zach may have said "that was Shayne" without even thinking about his close association with Shayne.

People have been known to reveal things unwittingly, especially in periods of great pressure.

I believe that Zach did not realize in that moment how he ended up revealing or incriminating himself by saying Shayne's name.

Solely my opinion - I think Zach said this without thinking. Perhaps showing "Miss Karen" that he was being helpful and concerned and then blurted that out.

Was Zach trying to show "Miss Karen" that he wasn't such a "bad" person - that he could be "good and helpful"?

Then did Zach suddenly realize what he had done?

I don't think Zach would have said that statement to any law enforcement - but being in the presence of a former teacher from grade four, I think he forgot himself and said that. I think he wanted to "look good in her eyes" because he hadn't looked good in anyone's eyes for quite awhile.

Yes but the judge should have been able to clarify a charge or at least tell them to re-read his instructions, but according to reports (which can be inaccurate) the judge refused to answer because the question pertained to evidence, not the charges.

He said he couldn't answer because it would be a comment on the evidence.

If the jury does not remember something that was testified to, are they allowed to see a transcript?
