Iwould be a mess, eyes swollen from crying, tears and snot. I tend to cry with passion and excess though. But honestly, she looks nice and put together. IMO.

In my experience if CPS involvement doesn't result in permanent removal, the dependency court reunifies the parent and typically reverts to the original custody arrangement. Then it's up to the other parent to go back to the family court and try to change custody.

It appears this dad sought custody in depdnency court but was denied as reunification took place and he lacked the funds to fight it out in the regular family court.

None of this is unusual and may say nothing about dad but a lack of resources.

Totally agree about bio dad and possibly nothing more than lack of resources. Each state has set guidelines/laws which dictate time frames for reunification. Termination of parental rights is not that easy. Unfortunately, the guidelines under which many children are returned is sub standard for lack of better wording, imo.

I think they are holding details close to their vest as they aren’t done just yet. IMHO, I expect more warrants to surface.

To no one in particular, since many of you are engaging in statement analysis here...but, I find some of the analysis more odd than her statements. I find it more concerning that commonly used phrases about children we care for are being conceived of as nefarious.

The problem with statement analysis is that it takes formal training and years of experience and feedback from other experts to make a determination. Too many people read a blog and then make judgement calls. As one person up thread said the language used is a flag to follow up to get more info. Not to declare innocence or guilt. I have taken a class from a person who works and trains police, FBI, insurance investigators, etc on interviewing and gleaning info. When something is odd to you it is flagged and you go back to gather further info.

Just because some people practice without a license doesn’t mean the whole profession is bogus. &#128522;

There are two. Paitin Fields and Kinsley Scott. A man was charged in the latter. Paitin is unsolved. That area seems to have some really horrifying residents.

What is the name of the other little girl down the road from Mariah that was also killed? TIA. I keep wondering if they are related.

the child was found in her home with her injuries. the family took her to the hospital but did not call police - maybe they knew who did it? But could EK have done it? I imagine they would consider him if they had no other suspects. I have a feeling that COD is similar if not the same. I could be wrong. Time will tell.

When my now 21 yr. old son was 3 he was staying at his Grandmother's house for the day. ..and he came up missing. Police were called, I rushed there and eventually he was found by an offficer curled up sleeping behind the A/C unit in the utility room. I was in sheer panic mode/ bewilderment the entire time. Thank God the news didn't show up because my reaction would've been scrutinized. .I wasn't a blubbering, sobbing mess....didn't shed a tear until he was found..however I was mentally to the point of losing all eloquent speech and saying God knows what in my panicked state. And I'm in Mississippi, so her words are not striking me as odd. We cannot really judge Mom's reaction in an interview until we have been in that position. And this was the first of 2 times he gave me a near fatal coronary by disappearing.

This is a completely erroneous assumption of DV victims. submissiveness is not a requirement. many DV victims will fight tooth and nail with their abusers, trying to protect themselves. walking on eggshells is common and trying to avoid triggering the abuser is common, but that is not the same as being submissive or cowering. Just bc a woman is strong or a fighter doesn't mean she can't be a victim of DV. victim doesn't mean weak - it means subject to controlling tactics by someone with more power. More power held by a man is the common state of the world in a patriarchal society. doesn't mean the woman is weak or not powerful - just that the man demands MORE power.

I don't know much about Paitin Fields case but the similarities that I do know are baffling. Mariah's dump site was located in between the 2 homes where both children we missing? Both last seen in their homes (mobile homes) in the middle of the night? Both very young girls close to the same age? Hard to find any more info on Paitin's case which is infuriating. Is anyone else bothered with these details? How are they so closely related? Is there just a big dose of evil hanging out in that area?

IMO, he knew of the Fields case and when Mariah was killed, he decided to stage it to look like a repeat, especially knowing a suspect had not yet been identified. Something along the way went wrong...either he planned to leave her in the adandoned home and backed out because his DNA was all over the home, or he planned to hide her in the dressers. My thought is that he was going to leave her but backed out, decided to hide her in the dressers to take her to the creek as he didn’t not want to get caught by LE moving her (remember the roads he used are typically well covered by LE) and then decided to keep the dressers after dumping her. I believe the location was well thought out so that it appeared to be a copycat of the Fields murder.
