I just think it is backwards to be finding fault with the families who stepped forward and cared for the babies, because they were not 'the same skin color.' JMO

All parents have their faults and although we don't know everything about these white parents who adopted only African-American children we know plenty. Certainly enough to make me suspicious of their motives and methods.

These Are the most recent photos of the kids. So fit abyibe looking out for the missing kids these photos are updated and how they most likely look now.

I read a news report yesterday that stated the highway patrol estimated the vehicle speed to be 90mph. It did not state how they determined that. That is one reason they believe it to be intentional.

We've determined earlier in the thread that it is inaccurate due to tires spinning in the air with no traction.

Is it possible they drove off it accidentally, like not realizing which direction they were going and thought they were headed to the road? No skid marks or signs of breaking could be because they were accelerating thinking they were headed back on the road?

Is it the three youngest who are missing? Is it safe to assume they were the smallest/lightest and were pulled out to sea?

I'm so glad we're off the subject of schools and dissing cities and cultures and educational methods!

No, I don't believe that would be possible. The report said they initially stopped 5 feet from the highway. Came to a full stop. Then drove straight ahead for 70 feet, and over the ocean cliff.

When she turned off the highway, and stopped, there was no question that the highway was behind her and there huge vast ocean was straight ahead. They had driven for many hours, with the ocean on their immediate right. No way she would be confused about where the cliffs were. JMO

First I have heard about the cross burning. Is their actual proof like police and media reports?

Why is there no way she could be confused about where the cliff is? How could you say that? We don't know what time of day, weather, state of mind, etc.

I am totally suspicious of THEIR motives and methods. Absolutely.

But does that mean we should be suspicious of ALL white adoptive families with kids of other races?

Wouldn't that be like now being suspicious of lesbian adoptive couples, because of this specific case? Would that be fair?

I too have noticed that all the children except for Markis and Hannah appear to have had braces. It could be that neither tolerated having their teeth worked on, or it could be something more sinister (like they only worried about teeth for children they expected to be in videos, perhaps). I also just noticed that Hannah's hair style in the "Sarah's 37th birthday" video is quite juvenile for her age. However, she is 14 in that picture and has no outward signs of puberty. Very unusual. I really wish we knew more about the intellectual and physical abilities/disabilities of the children. Finally, I think that Devonte seems angry almost to the point of explosion in many of the family pictures. I get the impression he is literally grinding his teeth behind his smiles in a lot of them.

I don't think they misjudged directions (maybe if they were tired and it was dark?). I also think it's possible she had the car in drive instead of reverse (I've done this a few times - one time my car jumped right over a curb!), or hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal (I think I've heard this happens sometimes? Or it's what people say happened when a car malfunctions?).

However, I always go back to this was intentional. :(

Only scenario I can see is if it was dark with no headlights? Plus, the overlook was dirt... And, 70 feet is like a long driveway.

I am thinking though that the car has a clock, and so does the black box.

I don't comprehend why as adults who were alarmed before about the abuse why tbe neighbors didn't bring Devonte inside and contact cps on the spot. All they needed for proof of what he was saying is to look at the child how frail snd skinnxy he was. They could've put an end to it right there if they just contacted cps and didn't wait a full week. It just didn't make sense to me. Also I wonder when Devonte stopped asking then for food if it was before or after cps was contacted.

I'm looking for a better article. (Found it http://www.pressdemocrat.com/news/8166695-181/volunteers-continue-search-for-three) I read that after this incident (quoted below), they were comfortable with the notion that Hannah's cat had just died and Hannah may have lingering deficits due to her early life. In that article, which I'm looking for, it is reported the neighbors' daughter is some sort of early childhood type of specialist, who didn't dispute what the Hart's alleged. However, the father of the neighbors got wind of it a month later and did call LE, and received reassurance that it didn't sound like a crime had been committed. Then, Devonte starts coming over. There was some speculation online that the neighbors gave him junk food or something, and they clarified the situation. He came over the course of a week, until he was there 3x a day...maybe one time one day, then again maybe the next, but 2ce the following day until he came 3x in one day and has asked for a box of provisions. At some point during this week he seems to inquire about CPS, but doesn't want them to call, just help. They were concerned and I really think the wife wanted to help earlier and had to convince her husband. Jmo.

I will find as much MSM to back up my above beliefs & edit to add ASAP. There is one video interview I hope I can find in particular. And, of course the article with the mention of daughter & father of neighbors. I believe the neighbors had good intentions and I believe they are just trying to clarify and add as much detail as possible when their story is questioned. Moo.

Those allegations stem from interactions neighbors in Woodland, Bruce and Dana DeKalb, say they had with the Hart siblings three months after the family moved in next door. The couple, who for 22 years have lived two miles from Interstate 5 on a winding, wooded road in remote Clark County, said they awoke at 1:30 a.m. one night to find Hannah Hart on their doorstep.

The girl had apparently tried to crawl through the blackberry bushes on the DeKalbs' property to get to another house, the couple told reporters Wednesday. She gave up when she came across a fence and ended up pounding on their front door. Bruce DeKalb answered.

The Woodland resident thought the girl was 7 or 8 because she was missing her two front teeth, he told reporters. Bruce DeKalb was stunned to find out she was nearly a teenager.

The DeKalbs told The Washington Post that Hannah Hart dashed inside the house and made her way upstairs after Bruce opened the door. She woke up Dana DeKalb, and the Hart family soon came to look for the girl.

Hannah Hart was crouching between the DeKalbs' bed and a dresser, the Post reports. The next day, the Harts introduced the children to their neighbors and offered the couple a letter of apology.

His wife wanted to call 911 that day. Bruce DeKalb went next door and visited briefly but did not see anything concrete.

The DeKalbs’ daughter is an educator with expertise in special-needs children and infants born addicted to drugs, her father said, and they thought that might explain the family’s reclusiveness and Hannah Hart’s conduct.

They kept a watchful eye, he said, though the children rarely came outside. Sarah Hart worked at Kohl’s in Vancouver, but Jennifer Hart stayed home, almost always, and the family made it clear they wanted privacy, he said.

“It’s surreal,” said DeKalb, describing months of wondering and worrying about what was going on in the family that shared his driveway.

He said they were deterred from taking action immediately by the family’s explanation their daughter had acted out after having a few bad days. The DeKalbs’ own understanding that the children’s origins — their birth families struggled with poverty, drug abuse, food insecurity and other issues — could have caused ongoing behavioral issues. Hannah’s parents said she had lost her teeth in an accident and didn’t want them fixed.

Dana DeKalb’s father, informed of the matter months after Hannah Hart’s aborted effort to flee home — did call the local Clark County Sheriff’s Office and described her nighttime visit. But a sheriff’s official who later called the DeKalbs said it did not appear any laws had been broken that would warrant the department’s intervention, DeKalb said Thursday.

Why is there no way she could be confused about where the cliff is? How could you say that? We don't know what time of day, weather, state of mind, etc.

Because I have driven that highway many times. No one is ever 'uncertain' where the ocean is. Have you seen it on google drive?

The huge vast ocean is almost swallowing you up, ominously, at all times. No way you would not be aware that it is to your right as you drive South.

If you pull off the highway , to a LOOKOUT, you are highly aware that you turned towards the ocean view. How could you then accelerate full speed ahead, away from the highway? I do not believe it is possible, unless you are on pain killers, and alcohol, or something like that.

No, I don't believe that would be possible. The report said they initially stopped 5 feet from the highway. Came to a full stop. Then drove straight ahead for 70 feet, and over the ocean cliff.

As disturbing as it would be, I'd like to see some kind of animation or a diagram or something... It came to a full stop but do we know yet for how long it was stopped before going again?

I just have a big fear of accidentally driving off a boat ramp or something like that, and of course I keep hoping we'll find out this was a complete accident... Hoping against hope, I know.

ETA I also have no sense of direction and get lost easily while driving...

I'll probably get slammed for saying this, but in the majority of those photos, to me, those kids look happy? To me, it seems like genuine happiness. I see them with decent clothes, their teeth look healthy, eyes are bright and shining, decent glasses. They're out and about a lot, not hidden in a house all of the time playing video games, but experiencing life outdoors and trying new things like playing musical instruments.

I am totally suspicious of THEIR motives and methods. Absolutely.

White savior complex is a real thing that happens. I don't know if it applies in the case of these parents, but based on their actions and photographs and everything they've said I think it's what was going on.

So incredibly sad. RIP, kiddos. 💔

Yeah I maybe drove over a cement parking barrier once and my mom mistakenly took the blame for it (sorry mommy!)

Sometimes when there's weird lighting or my windshield is dirty my depth perception seems off. Idk I realize I'm grasping at straws here.

I've had some.... interesting insights into families who adopt a bunch of kids because of my work and while I can't ethically share much, I will say these experiences have opened my eyes to some not awesome aspects of some of these family's adoptions.

Ugghhh this is where racism comes in subtle ways and probably part of what these women faced often. The spokesperson calls Devote's mom "guardian" even though he was adopted by her four years prior and is his mom...not guardian. The story the cop tells sounds very organic and not scripted. The supplemental pictures taken don't really prove that the photo was staged other than exposing the natural curiosity of the crowd and Devonte's mom was probably discussing his tears with him, most likely reassuring him. It sounds like from this interview the cop initiated the conversation not Devonte or his mom.

Maybe these women were control freak family annihilators or possibly hyper sensitive to the constant criticism they faced which caused them to isolate. Moving once because someone has put a burning cross on your lawn, may make you paranoid in general. When the family issues (their own and possibly their children's) became too great, the isolation escalated their poor parenting choices leading to a fight or flight decision that most likely ended all of their lives.

MOO

You can use "guardian" if you are unsure that it's the mom. A grandma and aunt can be a legal guardian... so that can go both ways.

And like I said before they seem like at least one of them had a narcissistic personality disorder and people like that LIE and play the victim all the time!

It is obvious the children have grown quite a lot over the past two-three years, per the latest pictures (though Hannah is still quite small for her age). They also look fairly healthy to me. I am wondering if something catastrophic didn't happen with the kids in the last months that left the women at their wits end. Little to no support, paranoia, unable to even rest and recoup while the kids are at school because they are home all the time. Just some thoughts.
