While investigating the killing, police examined Bryant's phone and "stumbled onto images suspected to be child *advertiser censored*," Sgt. Robert Eberling, police spokesman, said at the time.

Bryant is in the Tarrant County jail, with bail set at $1,075,000. He is scheduled for trial Dec. 4, according to court records.

First time reading about this case. It's beyond horrific and difficult to even fathom. This dude is bat **** crazy, but I sure hope he's not declared mentally ill to the point he can't be held fully accountable. He needs to seriously go away.

I hope he doesn't get off on an insanity defense. He was discharged from the military due to mental issues. He only served a year or maybe a little over. He had/has his issues for sure 😢

Looks like there is finally some activity here. For some reason the docket site is down so I can't access the trial date but it looks as though it's going to be April 9, 2018. State filed its witness and exhibit list, Allridge motion, and motion in limine last week. I'll do my best to keep y'all posted.

Finally got on the docket. Trial is specially set for April 6, 2018 (which means its definitely going and there are no continuances). Murder and the child *advertiser censored* charges. I'm going to try and go to the trial but unfortunately I have a job.

I'd like to try to get there as well, maybe for a couple of days. So glad we finally have some movement on this one.

Any updates on what is happening this Friday? I’m surprised the case hasn’t been in the news at all since last year.
 
Jury was selected Friday and trial begins today. I will certainly update this thread when and if I learn anything new, but there may be someone else on here that is better informed..

UPDATE: so far 3 witnesses testified - 1) Vandagriff's father, 2) Grapevine city worker who noticed fire in woods, doused it & made discovery.

4th witness) Grapevine PD detective - who handled most of cell phone tracking for Vandagriff and Bryant's phone. Vandagriff's phone last pinged a tower at 1:32 am on Sept 14 in Haslet - where Bryant lived. @wfaa

Grapevine PD also collected surveillance video of Vandagriff and Bryant at a 7-eleven on W. Oak Street in Denton at 10:40pm. Detective tells jury you could see her in his car, alive. The car then drives off. @wfaa

Grapevine PD also obtained surveillance from a Wal-Mart in Haslet showing Bryant going inside the store at 4:27 a.m. He purchased cough medicine and a shovel and walked out at 4:44 a.m. @wfaa

UPDATE: trial has resumed - with manager of Public House, a bar in Denton, on the stand. This is where Vandagriff & Bryant met. Prosecution likely to play surveillance video from bar reflecting as much. @wfaa

RIGHT NOW: witnesses on stand from various businesses that have surveillance video of Vandagriff & Bryant together - so far, 4 businesses in Denton.

This is a local story for some of my closest friends. It was announced yesterday they had identified the body that was found partially dismembered and on fire near Grapevine Lake.

The suspect had been arrested a few weeks prior for stalking, a charge he received twice because he wouldn't leave his ex-girlfriend alone. Not sure how Jacqueline knows this guy, if at all, but his social media postings have thrown me for a large loop.
