cry me a river, Thorburn. ..

His story has holes you could drive a truck through. . the bit about Julene , who talked through 'the problem' .. but conveniently went missing at the crucial time.. I suppose the public has to cop that, in return for the guilty plea.

My only prayer is that the idea that at some stage he can apply for parole is deemed unwise is all I expect, now..
I can see a time when he carries out his earlier suicide attempt, sometime soon.

well... 20 years,, he can, theoretically, apply for parole when he 's around 77 years of age, .. men like Thorburn do not wither on the vine, they are as dangerous at 77 as there were at 57, age doesn't weary them, it tends to invigorate them.

20 years is not enough. Not now, not ever. It's a token sentence, and god alone knows how Cindy Palmer endures it all.

I am not surprised, but I am wearily disappointed, even though QLD prisons are horrific.. it still feels wrong.

this is why I am disappointed.. Thorburn was in a particular position of Government granted trust, he was paid a stipend by the QLD government , out of taxpayers money to take the position of 'foster father' with all that entails (in a sane world. )

There are agreed norms of behavior expected and accepted in that position, that Thorburn voluntarily entered into. Tia didn't volunteer to be a ward of the state. There are certain expectations commonly agreed to by the general public in the absolute majority, that being a foster father does not include sexually interfering with children attending your own childcare service, for which , again, the Thorburns received Government funded wages.

I honestly think that because his position was one of voluntary trust and accountability, and responsibility, his sentence should have been larger that the average bloke's would have been. For example if it was a copper , or a doctor or a teacher, similar postions of extra trust, a larger sentence would have been laid down.

This family makes me feel ill. Wonder what Trent is up to these days. Probably changed his name by now, I'm guessing? Seems to be the going trend for many a Gold Coast scum. Tell you what, if I ever see him around town I don't think I would be able to suppress my vomit. Might voluntarily point it in his direction though.

BBM. And there is always Viagra. I do not believe that he did not have a sexual interest in her. Found only in a pair of torn underpants?

OMG I gotta have front row seats for that!
How many points for a bullseye.
Grapey you’re my kind of girl.

Been trying to work out why the rest of the family have skipped any real punishment for this murder. Because, to me, it seems that the mum must have known the murder was going to happen.

Sounds like a really incestuous and confusing situation. Apparently, Tiah had developed a crush on Trent and said she did not want to leave that house.
Yet, she had run away 10 times in 10 months with that family. The eldest son was afraid of the father. That could have had something to do with Tiah's running away problem. And the rest of them getting off lightly. imo

New article with a good overview:
As a student, Tiahleigh occasionally played truant, but as her former carer Julie Pemburton discovered, the trouble was at home not at school.

Ms Pemburton, who gave up Tiahleigh when she withdrew altogether from foster caring, later told Nine News that Tiahleigh had run away 10 times in her 10 months at the Thorburns.
Ms Pemburton said Tiahleigh “hated” her new home, although the exact nature of her misery wasn’t clear.

Tiahleigh told her biological family she wouldn’t move out because she had “a crush” on Trent and she loved the family’s horses.

.... their elder son Josh .... The slightly built young man, who had been bullied at school for being a dancer, was apparently afraid of his father.

The blond selfie-obsessed Trent had started taking “advantage of (Tiahleigh) as her big brother”.

Tiahleigh Palmer’s fate was sealed once she met the Thorburns

I’m off on a nudie run for Tiahleigh’s Justice.
Rest In Peace sweet darling girl.

Crikey it’s cold outside but knowing that mongrel will be locked up for the 20+ years will be worth every braless jolt.

Rick is hiding more. My bet is he has been abusing Tia and that is the REAL reason he killed her. He did not do it to protect his son. When he was arrested he tried to top himself and left the family to clear up the mess. SCUM

Trent is not a Gold Coast resident. They live (lived) in Logan . Chambers Flat. I am told they are in hiding. Family were well known around the area. Boys attended local schools in Jimboomba and Park Ridge

Troop I think he will die in prison . He is not looking too well these days. Give him five years he will be dead. Prison is not a place he can handle very well.

The funny thing is, I wasn't joking ;)

Close enough. Close enough to dump her on the GC even.

from your lips to god's ears , Champ.

I am reminded of Bilal Skaf, doing hard , hard time in NSW Supermax. Every meal he gets is delivered late, every mail, every thing, he is on the bottom of the list, and as the warden says, him and his crew are the very lowest totem on the totem pole in prison. Some say he wont last the distance, either..

And that won't change, it's a permanent thing in light of the crimes they were sentenced for, and this goes right to the core of Thorburn's problem. He will be , and will remain at the very bottom, like Cowan.

In another sense, Thorburn may, at last, find his level of human participation. It is my contention that Baden-Clay is thriving in prison, he, like Thorburn will find his exact level that eluded them outside prison. That it will be the kind of life , deep down, they always knew they'd end up in. For whatever reason . That outside was just too hard, too finicky, too many standards to uphold, ..

Creep drove 35 minutes to dump her body hours after reporting her missing. He has more front than Myers. Shed tears that he was caught. There is a good four part article at Courier Mail but its sadly behind a paywall. I read the first part but now cannot get in

When elder brother Joshua arrived home on October 29 he was called into a family meeting where Rick ominously said he had “taken care of it” and warned his wife Julene not to go into Tiahleigh’s bedroom.

Ughhh did I miss this before or? Did he leave her in her bedroom over night, or he just hadn't cleaned up yet? I trust they all slept well that night. Absolutely lovely family.
