Canada - Richard Henry JONES, 1975

Has Ricky been submitted for comparison to LE? I hope so! This is the best match I've seen on John! Agree with above - first time the chin dimple, deep ridge just below the nose + the upper teeth angle + jawline were clear as day to me. Wow! 2nd photo blue shirt, red under chin, compared to the crime scene & morgue photos.

Height, weight, general build, eyes, timing, and I see the hair as a match also. It is bushy in a couple shots yes, but 3rd photo down, lt blue/gray shirt. JMO his hair in that pic is identical to what we see of JD's at the crime scene. His curls are tamed as often as they are bushy. If this doesn't fit the criteria to compare DNA, I'm not sure what would?

Could also add he's from Canada + walked away from his intended schooling. He had some dental fillings already. Something might've happened just after they last saw him as in an accident that required the oral surgery. Smashed his teeth on a steering wheel or handlebar for example. Or it could have been before + led to a falling out with his father that his sister was not aware of. I find it odd they're not sure when they last saw him in the fall of '75. Holidays? I've set aside the Batson story only because he calls in a tip, a yr later, LE takes down notes + then nothing. It was not corroborated so I didn't want to use it to rule anyone/anything in or out. But it would only add to what is quite a lot of similarities here. IMO

JMO after looking at I swear every photo on the internet side by side with each of the Doe photos + sketches this week. I started on thread 1 + have just been slogging through & putting them up side by side whenever I could see any resemblance, then see what I could rule out. I have been searching for that deeper crease under the nose along with a cleft chin as they were the first things I noted on JD. Short of a new jawbone or beard I thought it would not change. I see nothing that rules him out so far?

There's something about the angle as the bridge of his nose meets the inner corner of his eye + start of his eyebrow, that triangle area looks identical to my eye. I don't know how to overlay photos or put pointers on them so I apologize for my choppy descriptions. I'm quite sure there is a name for that triangle or point but I sure as shooting don't know what it is.
All JMO I really really really hope this has been sent along + if so, what'd they say?!!!

The articles explained the "nobody was looking for him" mystery. Family thought they filed a report + LE was looking + there is no report on file 40 yrs later. So, his face was not being circulated when they were hunting for anyone that could be their Does around the globe. Or so it seems. :(

Bump. This needs to be solved!
Has Ricky been officially submitted as a possible? It looked that way on the previous page, but I wasn't sure if it actually happened. And, I didn't see anything to rule him out so I was wondering.

I don’t think he has. I have never submitted anyone. I’d be more than happy to, if someone wants to give me some guidance on how to do it! I still strongly believe it’s him.

Hi- I emailed his sister back in October and I could have swore I posted her response. I have been caring for my dad who just passed away from cancer so a lot of thingsfrom last year are a blur to me. Anyway the email is below. And FWIW, I still think it’s very good chance it’s him.

Hello Diane,

I came across your missing brothers info on a website that I use to read and research missing people/ cold cases.

There’s strong similarities to your brother and the Sumter County Jock Doe that was found murdered in 1976 along with a young female.

Have you looked at this possibility?

Here’s a link to their page.

Thank you for your concern. We have seen it and the different pics are confusing, however, no one in the family has olive skin and he did not have thick eyebrows. He was a college student when he went missing so would not have afforded that kind of dental work. Also he was under 6 ft tall. Again thank you though, sincerely Diane

Could this missing man be Jock Doe?

Richard Henry Jones has been missing from Ontario since sometime around November of 1975. It took the family a while to realize that he was missing, and the exact date of his disappearance is not known. The family filed a missing persons report in 1975, but the report was somehow lost and a formal investigation was not opened until last year, 2016. He was only added to Canada's missing person databases a few months ago, so he would not have come up in any past searches for missing Canadian men, which I think makes him a promising possibility. His sister says that it was common for people they knew to take off suddenly from their small town and go hitchhiking around the country, and thinks he might have done the same. Police believe he is deceased and/or that he left the country.

His hair texture doesn't match the Doe, but his other physical characteristics do. It's possible that he had it chemically straightened at some point?
His DNA was not a match. Our family appreciates everyone's help.
