They met him.
They are familiar with his voice.
They probably taped his interrogation.
They can make their own comparison.

If you believe the NYPD had the technology to record Unsubs voice on the calls to Amanda Barthelemy, and did in fact provide those recordings to SCPD, then SCPD should have been able to match John Bittrolffs voice to Unsubs voice. If they were able to match the voice, that would immediately link John Bittrolff to Melissa Barthelemy, and thereby to the other 3 Gilgo Beach 4 victims. Since John Bittrolff has not been charged with the murder of Melissa Barthelemy at the very least, we would then have to conclude that they did not find a match and the killer of the Gilgo Beach 4 has not been caught.

It would be logical for them to try to do that if they have a recording or if they can play John Bittrolffs voice to Amanda Barthelemy.

After the interaction with Gus Colletti Michael Pak follows Shannan Gilbert down Anchor way. Shannan Gilbert knocks on Barbara Brennan’s door and when there was no answer she runs across the street to the house of Peter Hackett. Perhaps Michael Pak catches up to Shannan Gilbert here. Peter Hackett advises that he is a doctor and invites them into his house. He then administers some type of medical treatment (perhaps an injection of some type of barbiturate) to Shannan Gilbert with Michael Pak present. The treatment calms Shannan Gilbert enough that she is able to leave with Michael Pak. She has a subsequent reaction to the treatment administered by Peter Hackett, on top of the other substances in her system, in Michael Paks SUV shortly after leaving Peter Hacketts house. Michael Pak panics at an unreponsive Shannan Gilbert. Michael Pak remains in Oak Beach until he feels the coast is clear and Law Enforcement has left. He subsequently dumps Shannan Gilbert’s body into the marsh (she may still be alive and unresponsive or may have already succumb to a lethal mix of drugs in her body). He takes her belongings and places them within the vicinity of Peter Hacketts house. He then leaves Oak Beach.

During the interview on 48 Hours Moriarty states to Peter Hackett, “You called Mari on your wife's cell phone on the third on that Monday when Mari said you called."

Peter Hackett is then quoted as saying, “Yeah, I'm sure I did. When you give ... look let me not get into it.”

Could he have been about to say, “medical assistance” or “medical treatment”?

*Note* It is standard practice for an escort to receive contracted payment upon arrival. Joseph Brewer contracted with Shannan Gilbert for $450. If standard practice was used in this case Shannan Gilbert should have had at least $450 in her purse. When her purse was discovered there was no cash inside with her other personal belongings. Michael Pak complained that he was wary about receiving his cut. Could not the scenario described above explain Shannan Gilbert’s missing money? Maybe Michael Pak got his cut after all.

Thank you LR1. That was an excellent video. It definitely substantiated many of my thoughts regarding Shannan Gilbert’s case. The one thing that I found strange though is the lack of mention of Peter Hackett.

I’ve just finished watching the series: Blue Chip Marketing: Gilgo Beach Parts 1 through 6, except for part 4 which I could not find. The series basically reaffirms a lot of the ideas that I have, but it is making me re-think the idea of two separate killers.

1) I still believe, as does Commissioner Richard Dormer, that case of Shannan Gilbert is a separate set of circumstances, and Unsub is not responsible for her death.

2) Being that this series was produced before the arrest and conviction of John Bittrolf I can understand the theory of one killer at the time. However, due to some facts about John Bittrolffs psychological profile, and the fact that Jessica Taylor and Peaches were linked to his hometown of Manorville, it is reasonable to believe that he may be responsible for the victims other than Asian Male and the Gilgo Beach 4.

3) I still believe that Asian Male and the Gilgo Beach 4 we’re killed by Unsub, John Bittrolf and Unsub are two different people and that Unsub is still on the loose.

I’m not part of Law Enforcement, and only have access to information and evidence provided to the public. I’m not a professional investigator and have not conducted interviews with any relevant witnesses or gathered evidence on my own. My conclusions are all based on deductive reasoning with the information and evidence available to the public, and by examining the ideas, opinions and conclusions of other members of Websleuths.

Why has bitlroff made no statement or comments to press at all. Most serial killers want to live out their days in glory and talk about the countless bodies they left behind. Hes an odd part of the oak beach equation because hes been in custody for years yet we know so little about this guy and his other possible victims. These forums keep crashing on anyone else and moving like a slow death.
