[h=3]Murder victim's friend now missing since her disappearance[/h]

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - It's been more than a week since a mother started looking for her son, Austin Gamez.

Now, the Louisville Metro Police Department is looking for him too.

Gamez was friends with Teressa McCoy, 27, who police said was found shot to death on Dec. 27.

Her body was found inside an SUV parked at the Bessler Auto Parts salvage yard on Strawberry Lane. She'd been shot, but still had on her seat belt.
LMPD hasn't made any arrests in McCoy's homicide, and said they are trying to find Gamez to learn anything they can about her case. Police say they do not have enough information to classify Gamez as a witness, victim or a suspect.

At this point, they just want to find him. Officers are investigating his disappearance as a missing person's case.

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – An Operation Return Home has been issued for an endangered missing Louisville man.

Austin Gamez, 27, was last seen in the 400 block of Cambridge Station Way on December 27, LMPD said.

Gamez is described as being 6’00’’ tall and weighing 180 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information on his location is asked to call the Louisville Metro Police Department at (502) 574-LMPD (5673.)

Gamez has not answered his phone or reached out to family.
He also missed his son's birthday, something the family says is completely out of character. They have launched a campaign for his safe return by posting information on social media. The post has been shared through numerous pages.

Gamez's family said he was last seen in the south end of Louisville.
Anyone with information on where Gamez might be located is asked to call the anonymous police tip line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673).

While Austin has not been found, there has been an arrest in the murders of him and his friend, Teressa McCoy. This has been a pet case of mine for a while now. I'm hoping he is found to give the family some closure.

Louisville police arrest man in connection with 2017 double murder case

According to an arrest slip, Sauer took Gamez’s body to an unknown location. McCoy’s body was discovered the next morning in the parking lot of Bessler Auto Parts, located at 4700 Strawberry Lane.

When officers searched his home in the 100 block of Ottawa Avenue on Dec. 12, they found approximately a half-a-pound of methamphetamine, digital scales and cash.

In court Saturday, Sauer was charged with two counts of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and trafficking in a controlled substance. A not guilty plea was entered, and the judge ordered Sauer sign a no-contact order with the victim’s families.

Sauer is booked in Metro Corrections on a $250,000 cash bond. He is due back in court December 23.

Suspect charged in 2017 double murder released, cleared by DNA evidence

Thomas Lanham, 35, was taken into custody on Jan. 6 and charged with two counts of complicity to murder and complicity to tampering with physical evidence in connection with the Dec. 26, 2017, killings of Teressa McCoy and Austin Gamez. However, prosecutors dismissed the case after determining that DNA taken from blood found in Lanham's car did not tie him to the crimes.


New charges filed against man accused in 2017 double murder

Prosecutors had charged Sauer with murder and tampering with evidence, but dropped those charges on Feb. 21 because of a misread DNA analysis report on Gamez. Sauer is now charged with complicity to murder and tampering with physical evidence in that case.
