Australia AUSTRALIA - Perth missing/murdered SK victims

Hi,

My partner and I are interested in writing a book about cold cases in Western Australia. We are particularly interesting in the case of Deborah Michelle Anderson who died mysteriously in January of 2000. There is minimal information about this case on the internet so we would be grateful to speak to anyone with any information.

Where Deborah was left, I believe there was a bottleshop.

You have to wonder if someone had their car parked at the carpark, set Deborah's car on fire, took her money and drove away.

Very simply poor grammar @petedavo.au . I often don't proof read, even then if I dont have glasses typing on device grammar is horrible.
Don't expect great grammar. It soon vanishes into the ether. Im not that enthused and it all takes time.

It was just Cutler police received a call about asking to be left alone.
I do wonder if this is an m.o. of a perpetrator?
A perp abducting and disappearing girls and making it look like the girls disappeared themself.
I was just wondering if you were thinking there was some similarities in other cases, like Morey alleging that he got a phone call from Sarah McMahon saying she was overseas?

From the inquest, it would appear Morey was in the business of drug dealing.
From the inquest it would appear McMahon was buying drugs in rather large quantities.
It would be interesting to see who Mr Moreys broader associates were.
If he was drug dealing in the upper end, he was getting large quatities off someone to be selling $10000 worth at the time in the 1990s.
You did also make mention the other SAS casino extortion.
Did these men know of each other?

I think the call could have been Cutler talking under duress.
It will be interesting to see what comes later.

Seperately Lance had a yellow Toyota Corona around the time Cutler was run off the road?
He also lived in Eric st, Cottesloe?
Not implying, just contemplating why Caporn had his foot on LW neck?

The Dorothy witness stated a yellow Toyota or similar drove her to or near Centennary park, Wilson?

LW went to WAIT I believe. He ticked some boxes but Caporn got lock-jaw?

Wow some interesting new information and new photo. The report from 6 weeks ago had a photo with the Fiat rear lights on.
What happened to Julie Cutler? 30 years on, the question still remains

One of todays reports say It was found with the lights switched on and the keys in the ignition.

Police at the time believed the car had been in the water since the night of her disappearance.

So how long does a car battery last before the battery drains and the lights go out in water?? At the time police believed 3 days. Wonder if they still do?

After 30 years, police hope $250,000 will flush out Julie Cutler's killer

The Community News has a new photo taken from above the car showing the roof supports flattened symmetrically inwards towards the middle of the car! How could that happen?

State Govt offers $250,000 reward as police reopen Julie Cutler disappearance investigation | Community News Group

A mobile incident unit will be at Cottesloe Beach carpark today and tomorrow for anyone who may have information.

There have been long-held concerns the disappearance could have been connect to the alleged triple-murder Claremont serial case, for which Bradley Edwards will reappear in court for a hearing on July 25.

Note that in the first picture of the Fiat, that the tail lights appear to be illuminated. So the battery wasn't flat when the car was brought out of the water

Where was Julie for two days before car was found? What information have the police been given lately? Do they still think there is a connection to Julie’s disappearance and the Claremont Killings? Why can’t the public be kept in the loop with regards information on Julie’s disappearance. It’s not as if there is a court case to convict someone and there’s risk of subjustice. Obviously WAPOL have a lot more information about Julie’s disappearance - so how can the public help if we are not given relevant information. JMO
I'm reticent to suggest that new lines of inquiry could of come up in this very thread, but you never really know, until the case is resolved, or the police say so in the media.
I won't respond about this case in the CSK thread as that might imply that I think Cutler's case is related to the accused that's going through Court in allegations related the the Claremont Serial Killings, and that would be Subjudicial IMO to the proceedings in Court. And I haven't seen anything yet of any evidence to suggest it is.
I'm still looking at a couple of theories, being stalked by a rogue road raging cop, or a mistaken identity / kidnap for ransom plan by rogue former SAS commando and an amateur criminal.

Thanks Pete. The first time I have ever heard that Julie had a house mate who reported her missing to her father. The specific interest in the rear seat is interesting too.
Also the part about the damage to the car makes it clear that it wasn't believed by police to be caused by the retrieval nor normal ocean processes. Nor simple bumps and scrapes.

This could be correct. With all the talk of new DNA techniques and reviewing the case the cigarette butts could have been retested and provide the "fresh information" Dawson is not expanding on.
Would be illuminating if correct. I would assume that the absence of someone being asked to assist with enquiries might indicate, if DNA was recovered, it probably doesn't match anyone who is on the DNA database via a recent arrest for a series of alleged major crimes?

Cold Cases
MISSING PERSON (SUSPICIOUS) – JULIE LEANNE CUTLER – PERTH WA – 20/JUN/1988
CASE DATE: MONDAY 20 JUNE 1988LOCATION: MILL STREET PERTH

DESCRIPTION:

QUICK KEY FACTS:

BACKGROUND:

Julie Leanne Cutler was 22 years of age at the time of her disappearance. She enjoyed reading, writing and socialising with friends. She was working casually at the Parmelia Hilton Hotel in Perth as a room attendant and lived in Fremantle with a female flat mate.

CASE DETAILS:

On the evening of Sunday 19 June 1988, Miss Cutler was working at the Parmelia Hilton Hotel, 14 Mill Street, Perth. After finishing her shift, she attended a staff awards night at Julianna’s night club, which was part of the Parmelia Hilton. It is believed that around 180 people attended this function until around 12.30am on Monday 20 June 1988.

Miss Cutler and a female co-worker left the work function, walking together to the staff parking area of the hotel. Miss Cutler was seen by her co-worker bending into the open front passenger side door of her car. Miss Cutler’s car was a two-tone grey and black Fiat sedan registered number 6CW749. It is believed that Miss Cutler then re-entered the hotel and function until it finished, before returning to her vehicle and driving away. The Fiat sedan was last seen turning left from Mill Street onto Mounts Bay Road.

Miss Cutler did not arrive home in Fremantle that night. She did not attend work at the hotel for her rostered shift later that day.

In the morning of Tuesday 21 June 1988 Miss Cutler’s flat mate reported her missing.

VEHICLE LOCATED:

About 11.45am on Wednesday 22 June 1988, Miss Cutler’s car was located several metres off the shore-line at Cottesloe Beach by a swimmer. The car was about half way between the Surf Life Saving Club and the groyne. At this time the car was upside down, half buried in the sand. The rear seat of the vehicle was located separate to the vehicle.

The person or persons responsible for Miss Cutler’s disappearance have not yet been identified.

If you have any information about the disappearance of Julie Leanne Cutler, please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 00 or make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au Please remember that you can remain anonymous if you wish and rewards are offered.

“The Fiat sedan was last seen turning left from Mill Street onto Mounts Bay Road.”

“In the morning of Tuesday 21 June 1988 Miss Cutler’s flat mate reported her missing.”

These two pieces of information could have helped with the investigation. Knowing she had a flat mate who may have had information about a boyfriend or about the break in and road rage issue.

She turned left from Mill St onto Mounts Bay Road - is that how you would drive to the Casino or was she heading for Stirling Highway to go home. She may have encountered her road rage guy! JMO

Mounts Bay Rd is a right turn from Mill St. Turning left at the same intersection puts her on the Esplanade instead. However, either way can take to to Fremantle back then. Also parts of these roads were one way back then, so I don't know if a right turn was possible. And if it was, Julie might've chose to turn left onto the Esplanade and then right at Barrack St to avoid the booze bus that was always set up just after Spring St under the Fwy overpass on Mounts Bay Rd to catch people leaving the City.
So the real decider is did she continue along the esplanade to Riverside Drive and then go east or turn west to Fremantle?

Interestingly, she parked across from Mill St in the old PCC carpark. Reports however state that Julie parked in the Parmelia instead. So which was it?
