Missing elderly couple last seen at gas station on Bluff Road

Deputies say 80-year-old Geraldine Tucker and her husband 84-year-old Charles Tucker both live in Chester County and drove to Richland County Monday for an appointment but never returned home.

The two were last seen at the Shell gas station on Bluff Road around 10:15 p.m. Monday in their silver/champagne colored 2010 Lincoln MKZ.

Missing elderly couple called family and said they may be in Spartanburg

Their last known location was a Shell gas station on Bluff Road in Columbia.

However, the couple's granddaughter, Heather Means, said they called family on Monday night and said they may be in Spartanburg.

Means said the family can't confirm if they were actually in Spartanburg or an unfamiliar area of Columbia but believed it was Spartanburg. However, she said the couple seemed confident they were in Spartanburg at the time.

Spartanburg is at least 90 miles north of Columbia. If they were going back to Chester County, they should have gone north on 77, but it sounds like they went south and merged onto I26 north instead, probably thinking they were on 77 north. And what are two 80 year olds doing getting gas on Bluff Road at 10 PM? They really should not have been driving after dark, I think. Thank goodness it sounds like they're okay though.

If they used their cellphone, that could be tracked through pings.

Happy update -
Update: The family has reported that Charles and Geraldine Tucker were located driving near Morehead City, N.C. They were stopped by law enforcement and were reported to be okay. They were taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out. The family is on their way to bring the couple home.
