Prosecution enters evidence taken from defendant's home
Witness describes Andersen as panhandling ‘nuisance’

July 13, 2018

"The third day of testimony Friday in the Putnam County trial regarding Deborah Dewey's murder included the introduction of dozens of pieces of evidence seized from the home of Clifford A. Andersen Jr., her brother-in-law....

Items taken and entered as evidence by Assistant Illinois Attorney General Bill Elward include gloves; soiled towels; six bottles of carpet-cleaning solution; cleaning brushes; multiple lengths of rope, which Wasylyszn said matched the rope found in the grave; a cellphone; a journal with press clippings about Dewey's disappearance; a checkered shirt that matched a description mentioned earlier in the trial by a different witness; missing person fliers; a washing machine hose; a blue tarp; a bag of straw hay; a carpet cleaner; and carpet fibers....

The prosecution expects to be done with presenting its evidence and witnesses by next Wednesday, and Judge Stephen Kouri said he was hopeful to have the jury deliberating before the end of the week."

Cellular confusion also arises during the 4th day of testimony

7/16/2018

"According to Judge Stephen Kouri, Assistant Illinois Attorney General Bill Elward's repeated attempts to include barred testimony during the trial of Clifford A. Andersen Jr. on Monday was "flirting with mistrial."...

Before the day's proceedings were underway, Kouri announced a juror had been relieved for reasons unrelated to the case, and one of the alternates filled his seat."

Judge won’t let disputed witness testify

DNA experts show blood in Standard house belonged to Deborah Dewey but so far only carpet cleaner could have possible DNA link between Dewey and Andersen. Testimony seems to point out where DNA didn't match more than where it did.

But a carpet cleaner showed Dewey’s blood on wheels

"HENNEPIN — Crime-scene technicians didn’t find much DNA from Deborah Dewey or her alleged killer — but where they did find it could be bad news for murder suspect Clifford Andersen.

Kevin Zeeb, a forensic biology expert, took the stand Tuesday and spelled out a long list of items tested for DNA, including Andersen’s shoes and watch. Nothing showed a trace of Dewey’s blood — with one exception..."
