DNA experts show blood in Standard house belonged to Deborah Dewey but so far only carpet cleaner could have possible DNA link between Dewey and Andersen. Testimony seems to point out where DNA didn't match more than where it did.

Bank records show Dewey took nearly $100,000 out of an IRA in about a 1 year period- but no definitive record of where it went.

Prosecution loses motion to allow social worker's testimony in Andersen trial

July 17, 2018

"HENNEPIN – A judge told the state’s attorney Monday that he was putting a murder trial at risk by trying to get barred testimony entered into the case against a Standard man accused of murdering his sister-in-law and burying her body.

Judge Stephen Kouri told Assistant Illinois Attorney General Bill Elward's that his repeated attempts to include a conversation between a Veterans Administration social worker and Clifford A. Andersen Jr.was "flirting with mistrial.”...

The social worker, Leslie Duntemann, met with Andersen in the Bureau County Jail to discuss his medical care, and the prosecution sought to introduce her testimony regarding Andersen's statements during their conversation about purchasing a large amount of manure.

A bag of the same brand of manure was found where Dewey's body was found...."

DNA from carpet cleaner links Dewey, Andersen
Defendant had history of 15 loans at more than 78 percent interest

"HENNEPIN — DNA samples taken from a blood stain on the left wheel of a carpet cleaner seized from the home of Clifford A. Andersen Jr. have linked him with the crime scene and the murder of Deborah Dewey.

Forensic scientist Jennifer MacRitchie testified Wednesday in Putnam County Circuit Court that the blood splatters on the wall and door within the vacant house at 104 Fifth St. in Standard matched Dewey's DNA.

The DNA degradation in the majority of the areas tested on the cleaner was attributed to the action of the machine's cleaning fluid, but one sample did provide investigators with a breakthrough.

A sample taken from the inside of the left wheel contained a mix of three different people's DNA, with Andersen's being the dominant profile. The second most significant profile belonged to Dewey, and the third was ruled to exclude the DNA profiles of Diane Andersen, Christopher Dewey and Nathan Andersen....

"We're about to the end," Kouri told the jury Wednesday afternoon before complimenting their dedication and dismissing them for the day. Kouri and the legal teams then began work on the rules for deliberation in anticipation of the jury taking the case on Friday."

Wait.... was he stealing her money?

always reading I don't know about what the financial stuff they are bringing in has to do with the anything???

In the last article I posted it stated:

"Financial testimony

Misty Prueter, a former representative of Sun Loan Company, testified that Andersen's account history comprised of a series of 15 loans at 78.25 percent interest.

On Aug. 22, 2016, the day of Dewey's disappearance, Andersen was delinquent on a payment of approximately $151. Prueter said phone calls are made daily to delinquent account holders beginning at 8:30 a.m. and done alphabetically.

She said Andersen was "usually carefree" during previous interactions, but said he seemed rushed that morning.

"This time he wasn't carefree," she said, adding that Andersen told her he'd pay by Aug. 24.

Brenda Jensen, of Eureka Savings, testified regarding Dewey's distribution of her individual retirement account's certificate of deposit.

Opened with a balance of roughly $175,000, Dewey withdrew $107,000 over the course of 2015 and 2016. Jensen also testified that in "general conversation" during one of Dewey's many withdrawals, she had casually asked whether Dewey was remodeling.

"Just helping someone out," is what Jensen said Dewey told her."

There's got to be more to this than what the article stated, IMO, but what?

Prosecutors in the Clifford Andersen Jr. murder trial are expected to wrap up on Thursday with autopsy evidence after jurors on Wednesday heard their theory that Deborah Dewey had become Anderson’s “traveling bank” to help cover his gambling losses and keep up with multiple high interest “payday loans.”

Prosecutors: Victim was Anderson's 'traveling bank'

Witness: Blood spatter at crime scene was victim’s

Jul 19, 2018

"...What about motive?

Prosecutors have laid the groundwork for money as a motive for Dewey’s murder. They say Andersen, an avid gambler, was getting money from Dewey, his sister-in-law, and arrangement that may have come to an abrupt end as her means dwindled.

Eureka Savings Bank employee Brenda Jensen told the jury she questioned Dewey when the woman began withdrawing large amounts of money from an IRA pension account from her late husband.

Jensen said between January 2015 and the end of 2016 Dewey took more than $100,000 out of the account-something prosecutors say is extremely noteworthy for a woman described by her son as “mostly getting her T-shirts from the ‘rag bin’ at work” and who made a special trip to return a can of hairspray to the Dollar General the last day she was seen.

Jensen admitted she didn’t outright ask about the money, but near the beginning inquired whether Dewey was doing some remodeling.

“She told me she was just helping someone out,” Jensen testified.

Jensen said the money was taken out by check, but sometimes Dewey would cash the check right away, so no paper trail for the funds exists. She testified about a conversation she had with Dewey in spring of 2016 which Dewey called her, upset, about the tax implications from the withdrawals. Because the money was in an IRA each time it was taken out of the account it was considered income, Jensen explained. The bank would hold back 10 percent for federal taxes, but the withholdings weren’t enough.

“She said she had to pay in because not enough was paid (in taxes),” Jensen said.

“Did she appear upset other times after that?” defense attorney Rob Parker asked.

“No,” Jensen said."

Andersen admits to affair with victim
Taped phone conversations provide more links to murdered sister-in-law

"HENNEPIN – Clifford A. Andersen Jr. and the sister-in-law he’s accused of killing were having an affair, according to phone conversations he had with his wife, Diane, after his arrest.

“There’s two or three things they got on me,” Andersen told her.

Thursday was the final day of testimony in Andersen’s first-degree murder trial in Putnam County Court. ...

Diane Andersen was the last person to testify.

She said although she knew about multiple high-interest loans he had taken out, she was unaware that her husband gambled.

“I wanted to ignore it. I didn’t want to know,” she said.

The prosecution has presented testimony that Andersen had financial problems, and that Dewey may have given him a large amount of money over the past several years.

She said Andersen regularly withdrew about $5,000 a month, and added that although she knew he liked to pay for things in cash, she didn’t know what he did with the money...."

Jailhouse phone call reveals affair

"The prosecution entered an explosive piece of evidence against Clifford A. Andersen Jr. on the final morning of testimony Thursday in the case of Deborah Dewey's murder....

Assistant Illinois Attorney General Bill Elward played two phone calls for the jury Thursday. Recorded on June 14, 2017, and July 21, 2017, while Andersen was in custody, the conversations between Andersen and his wife, Diane, revealed shocking new details regarding the relationship between Andersen and Dewey, as well as his involvement in Dewey's death....

Final statements will be made on Friday, and Kouri said he hoped to be able to hand the jury the case before the end of Friday morning."
