SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A former director of the North Idaho Housing Coalition has been charged with embezzling from the nonprofit group.

The Spokesman-Review reports that 64-year-old Lori Isenberg was charged on Tuesday. She is accused of embezzling about $500,000.
Isenberg is the wife of missing Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, resident Larry Isenberg. She told police two weeks ago that her 68-year-old husband had fallen off their boat and into Lake Coeur d'Alene.

She said he fell into the water while trying to fix the boat's motor.

Lori Isenberg said she looked for her husband for two hours near Powderhorn Bay before she could call for help.

The Spokesman-Review reports Kootenai County Sheriff's Office personnel discovered what they believe to be Larry Isenberg's body in the lake near Worley, Idaho, on Thursday afternoon.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Officials say the identification and autopsy of a human body found in Lake Coeur d'Alene could take up to two months.

The Coeur d'Alene Press reports Kootenai County marine deputies located the body a short time after 1 p.m. Thursday near Sun-Up Bay.

Kootenai County Coroner's Office Deputy Coroner Jo-Ann Porter says an autopsy conducted by the Spokane County Examiner's Office likely will take between six to eight weeks.

Examiners must use DNA testing to determine if the body is Larry Isenberg, who was reported missing more than two weeks ago by his wife, Laurcene "Lori" Barnes Isenberg.
Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says the investigation into the death is ongoing.

CORONER IDENTIFIES BODY FOUND IN LAKE CDA AS MISSING BOATER LARRY ISENBERG
COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The Kootenai County Coroner confirmed the body found floating in Lake Coeur d’Alene earlier this month was that of missing boater Larry Isenberg.

Isenberg, 68, had been boating when he fell into the water and out of view, his wife Lori told police on Feb. 13.

Officials said they got a 911 call at 1:00 p.m. on March 1 from a resident in the Sun-up Bay area near Worley, Idaho. The caller said they could see what they believed to be a body floating face down in the water. Deputies, detectives and the dive team showed up a short time later and recovered the body.

$500K Bench Warrant Issued For Lori Isenberg After Missing 2nd Arraignment

A hearing that lasted less than five minutes, Lori Isenberg again was a no-show for her arraignment in Kootenai County district court. When asked by District Court Judge Scott Wayman where Lori Isenberg was, her attorney said he did not know.

The state asked that Isenberg's passports be suspended but the judge ultimately ruled that a $500,000 bench warrant be issued for Isenberg's arrest.

A North Idaho woman's husband is dead, and she is on the lam, wanted for alleged embezzlement

Larry is now dead after he ended up in the frigid waters of Lake Coeur d'Alene during an early-morning boat ride with Lori on Feb. 13. Police found the 68-year-old's body in the Sun Up Bay near Worley, Idaho, 16 days after Lori reported the incident to police.

Meanwhile, Lori, who is the last known person to see her husband alive, is charged with embezzling half a million dollars from a North Idaho housing nonprofit, according to a Coeur d'Alene Police report. Detective Steve Harris lays out the case against Lori: "ghost companies," forged checks, personal items bought with the nonprofit's credit cards and tens of thousands of dollars transferred to an account in Larry's name.

Now, with two missed court dates, and a $500,000 warrant for her arrest, Lori has disappeared. And bounty hunters are pursuing her.

Woman wanted for grand theft goes missing after her husband dies with lethal levels of Benadryl in his system
After Lori Isenberg got to the shore and spoke to deputies after her husband fell into the lake, they noted she had a bloody nose. She told deputies her husband was not feeling well at the time, which may have caused him to fall into the water. She said he looked “awful” and “grey” before the incident.
However, friends and doctors told investigators that Larry appeared to be in good health. Investigators found text messages from Larry’s phone to his daughters that said he was not feeling well and may have had a stroke. However, his friends told investigators that Larry did not use emojis, which were present in the texts.
Family and friends told investigators that the couple’s marriage appeared “perfect” but they did fight over Lori’s “constant enabling and giving of money to help out her daughter,” Michael Holmes, a friend, told investigators, FOX 28 Spokane reported. The two wed in 2004. Larry had two children from a previous marriage while Lori had six.

But the autopsy found he had an astonishing 7,100 nanograms of diphenhydramine in his system, while 100 nanograms to 1,000 nanograms is considered normal.
Now Lori’s two adult daughters from a previous marriage – Jessica Barnes and Amber Hosking – are under investigation along with their mother for conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree as well as theft in the first degree in Spokane County, Washington, where they both reside.

So.... Lori is still on the run?

out?

Yes. And apparently she used to date the sheriff.

COEUR d’ALENE — Kootenai County Sheriff Ben Wolfinger says his department’s investigation of Lori Isenberg is not clouded by his past relationship with the former housing coalition director who is being investigated for murder.

Wolfinger confirmed Monday that he and Isenberg dated in the late 1990s, she worked on his campaign for a City Council seat in 2001 and he maintained a friendship with Isenberg after she married her now-deceased husband, Larry.

“We went out a few times in the late 1990s,” Wolfinger said. “She may have helped some with my campaign when I ran for City Council in 2001. She did not help with any of my sheriff’s campaigns.”

Wolfinger said he and Isenberg worked together while he was on the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce, and news stories show he consulted with her during his 1998 run for the Idaho Legislature.

“We did a lot of work in the chamber together in the late ’90s and early 2000s,” Wolfinger said. “I guess that’s what happens in a small town. Everybody knows everybody.”
Since her last appearance in court in March, Isenberg’s court hearings were continued or vacated until May 25, when a First District Court judge in Coeur d’Alene ordered a $500,000 bench warrant after she failed to appear for her arraignment. Isenberg had posted a $75,000 bond and was released from jail in February after being charged with felony grand theft.

Her whereabouts are not known.

O/T.....I just realized as I was reading Gardener’s link - Ben Wolfinger was captain & PIO during the horrific investigation into the Joseph Duncan kidnapping of Shasta & Dylan Groene, Dylan’s subsequent murder, along with the murders of their mom, her boyfriend and their brother. Awful, awful case that took place 40 miles east of my home. I had to stop following it as it was absolutely too sickening and gave me nightmares.
