GUILTY GA - Kentae Williams, 10, murdered, Decatur, 28 April 2017 *Arrest*

Nah. There is a joking comment like 'omg I'm gonna murder him when he gets home' that is clearly uttered in jest, and there is a threat. His was the latter.

Thankfully no one took me serious.

Sadly this man did intend harm and did not need to be responsible for a child.

I agree with the poster that said his smile looked force in tbe picture.

Adoptive dad to face trial in DeKalb drowning death of 10-year-old son
A little over a year after 10-year-old Kentae Williams’ death, his adoptive father is set to stand trial for allegedly drowning him in a bathtub in DeKalb County.

The trial for Leon Williams, a worker at the Georgia Department of Administrative Services, is scheduled to begin July 9, according to court records, at the downtown Decatur courthouse.

What did this poor child do on that particular day that brought this to a head? Poor baby, poor baby.

Attorney: DeKalb man had ‘void,’ adopted 10-year-old – then killed him

Defense attorney Daryl Queen clasped his hands and spoke to the DeKalb County jury tenderly, like a pastor to a grieving family. He told them about Leon Williams, 44, a former longtime state worker who had a void in his life, who wanted a son and decided he had enough love and patience to handle a 10-year-old with autism, communication issues and myriad mental challenges.

Williams, Queen said, also believed in corporal punishment and on April 28, 2017 – after Kentae Williams allegedly cursed at a teacher and then refused to take a bath – it went too far.

The father, charged with murder, held the boy under the tub water to get him in line, and he drowned.

Father of Kentae Williams gives police two different stories following child's drowning

A short time later during the second interview, Williams gave a different story about his son's bath.

Williams: “Think I might have pushed him down in the water for like 30 to 45 seconds.”

Detective: “Think that was too long?”

Williams: “Yes, sir.”

Detective: “Think that is what caused his death?”

Williams: “Yes, sir.”

Detective: “How many times you do that?”

Williams: “Twice.”

Detective: “Twice.”

Relief after DeKalb dad gets maximum time for drowning autistic son

Jaire Granderson used to think she could pick out the liar.

This was important for a worker at the Division of Family and Children Services, where she helped decide who got to adopt a kid and who didn’t. She looked for dangers in the home, signs of some hidden darkness within the applicants’ hearts, and she thought she could always find such things in another person.

On Friday morning, she sat in a DeKalb County courtroom to learn the fate of a man she believes proved her wrong.

“He tortured, hurt that kid. He was supposed to give him the most beautiful life,” Granderson said in the hall after the hearing, her eyes glistening. “And he did the complete opposite.”
